We have a Chemist champion, how 'bout an eco-friendly, tree-loving, lighthearted Botanist champion

He/she could be a support who's skillset revolves around planting and growing herbs and mushrooms. Herbs would be grown in open, spacious areas such as the lanes and in your base, while mushrooms would be grown in more enclosed places, such as all throughout the jungle. Herbs would give you defensive stats, such as extra health and mana, or extra armor or magic resistance. Mushrooms would give you offensive stats, such as attack and ability, or spell vamp and lifesteal. Her ultimate could see her concocting different tonics from all the different ingredients that would all have varying effects, one of the effects could make you really tiny and more squishy, but give you a ton of more movement speed.

Well first, we already have a plant growing champion; her name is Zyra.

Second, in what world is an environmentalist (coughcoughcrazycoughcough) going to go into a freaking death battle?

'First', we also already have a Dragon champion; her name is Shyvana, and we're still getting another dragon; his name is Ao Shin. What's your point? Riot has made it obvious they don't mind revisiting champion identities if it's unique enough. I mean, if they weren't we would only have one of everything. One lightning-based character, one fire-based character, one wind-based character. But that is obviously not the case at all now is it.

'Second', they would go to war for the sake of the conservation of nature and all its encompassing habitat. Try being open-minded before immediately shooting down an opinion next time.

first of all, i'm so sick of people judging other people's ideas for champions because they remind another champion while riot has done it a million times, second it never reminded me of Zyra and third, why would a peacemaker Bard go into a freaking death battle? Finally i really like this concept and i would definately try it out.

Thanks man :) the guys at the top came up with an interesting idea with the farmer skin, I mean especially when you consider we already have a scarecrow champion with Fiddlesticks, they could easily give Fiddlesticks a farmer-like skin

peter19913 votes

Wow, this sounds really interesting, not to mention wholly unique in that its putting the usage of plants and mushrooms in a whole new form. Good job man! don't sweat the hate these people are unnecessarily giving ya :)

magic owns3 votes

Yeah, no kidding, it really makes you feel like if you were a farmer champion, speaking of which that could make an awesome skin! A farmer skin with the herbs & mushrooms replaced with fruits & vegetables :)

peter19911 votes

Wow! A farmer skin, I didn't even think of that, that would be so awesome, the ultimate could have the champion make a variety of different shakes from all the fruits and vegetables

Are you sure you want more mushrooms? I don't think you do. Teemo

salvaro4 votes

There not going to work the same way, the same way that all summons don't work the same way. They will be consumable items that wouldn't have anything at all to do with Teemo's mushrooms. That's like saying they shouldn't had came out with Jinx because she has one spell (just like Teemo, his only mushroom-based spell is hit ult) in which she uses electricity, and we already have a ton of electricity-based champions. C'mon bro, at least try being open-minded.

Don't get snippy at him. You need to flesh out this idea more. Right now you're giving a vague idea of what the champion does, and then getting upset at him for not getting it. You say that you grow mushrooms in the jungle, but when he saw this as similar to Teemo, you said they're consumables. How were they to know that? In fact, how DOES the ability function because you haven't explained it. Right now I see it as basically a Teemo Shroom, except instead of blowing up when an enemy walks over them an damaging them, it goes off when an ally walks over them and heals them (which is also essentially what Bard has without looking like a Shroom).

So please, when people give you feed bad, how about you be open minded? If people are saying that mushrooms are bad, maybe change it from being mushrooms. Are they that important to the characters overall design that they HAVE to be mushrooms?

salvaro1 votes

I got snippy? You seem to be reading too much between the lines. Also, did you read my post? I specifically stated both would provide different effects, making it clear before this that the champion is a support. So obviously the champion would provide these stat BOOSTS to their allies, cause you wouldn't wanna provide boosts to the enemy, thus common sense would dictate it isn't at all like Teemo's mushrooms.

You're right, I didn't explain it, because it was just a rough concept. The purpose of the post was to describe what the champions skillset would 'revolve' around, thus nothing is set in stone, just that it would INVOLVE that. Yeah, they have to be mushrooms.

Lonely Flame2 votes

Yeh you did. Saying "C'mon bro, at least try being open-minded." is you having a go at him. That's not reading between the lines, that's you flat out saying that you didn't care for his comment.

And yes I've read your posts, did you read mine? I never said that the buff is given to enemies, I said it was given to allies "except instead of blowing up when an enemy walks over them an damaging them, it goes off when an ally walks over them and heals them" So I will give you this I got confused and said heals them instead of buffs them, but let me see If I've got this straight.

{quoted}

while mushrooms would be grown in more enclosed places, such as all throughout the jungle.

So they 'planted' in the jungle? How would this function be different than a Teemo Mushroom or a Bard Heal? They're a ability that the champion is placing at a set location that triggers when a player walks over it.

{quoted}

Mushrooms would give you offensive stats, such as attack and ability, or spell vamp and lifesteal.

Right so you have a mushroom that triggers when an ally walks over it, and gives them a buff. So it's the reverse of a Teemo Shroom where an enemy walks over it an damages them.

{quoted}

They will be consumable items that wouldn't have anything at all to do with Teemo's mushrooms.

How are they not though? What is the gameplay difference between these 2 abilities?? They're both stationary mushrooms that trigger when someone walks over them.

And finally, if nothing is 'set in stone' then why do they HAVE to be mushrooms? You haven't given me a reason.

salvaro1 votes

No, I didn't. You misinterpreted what I meant. If I wanted to show that I 'flat out' didn't care for his comment, I would have made it apparent and direct as I did with the other commentator about Zyra. It would be different because for one they're planted, so they won't have any effects right away, they will take some time to be ripe for picking in order to be consumed for all of it's benefits. What I mean by 'nothing set in stone' is that many things are still probable for change, but not the 'mushrooms' part as that would be part of the identity of this botanist (since botanist also study fungi) For example, if much time has passed, instead of just disappearing, they will actually go bad, having then negative effects. Maybe they could even be picked up by the enemy champions. Maybe they're not stationary at all, but instead consumables that stay (for a limited time) in a free slot as the potions consumables are. Maybe her ultimate isn't at all like what I said, which was to mix different herbs and mushrooms to create different tonics with different effects. As I stated nothing is set in stone, aside from having her identity as a botantist, using plants & mushrooms in some form. I just thought the idea of having a champion who literally plants and grows organic consumables to be eventually be ripe for eating would be a cool mechanic to implement for a champion

Lonely Flame2 votes

...Just nevermind. If you haven't understood it by now you won't get it. I'm done.

magic owns1 votes

Aw yay he's done! xD

peter19911 votes

understood what? Your responses seem to all universally be about changing the character to how you want it, trying to state it should have more flowers instead of mushrooms even though that'd be a ripoff to Zyra, instead of just trying to comprehend the theme that he's trying to go for with this champion concept.

FloRaider422 votes

He never said there should be flowers... sigh He merely pointed out that instead of using already existing plants (Teemo's mushrooms, Zyras Vine Slashers and Spitters) you could use different plants (berries, fruit trees etc.) to make it more visually diverse.

Lonely Flame1 votes

Thank gods someone gets it. Literally the only thing I was trying to get across. Have an upvote.

Caraméla3 votes

Saying: this is teemo's mushrooms, this is bard's w, this is whatever is totally not a feedback. Do u really want me to get started with the champions and skills that already exist and are pretty much the same? Rengar & Khazix , RekSai 's ulti & TahmKench 's ulti, Nidalee traps & Caitlyn traps and the list never ends. So please dont cut creators' wings before they are even opened just because u saw a tiny similarity with a champion that already exist plus as i pre mentioned this is not feed back its "i am desperately looking for sth to counter his idea as already used"

Lonely Flame2 votes

It is a feedback because all were literally saying is DON'T MAKE IT A MUSHROOM and his response is 'nah it has to be a mushroom'.

We're telling him an aspect of the champion that could/should be changed and he's refusing it. Why? What about mushrooms is so important and needed about the champions overall design that it absolutely has to be a mushroom as opposed to, oh I don't know, a flower? A small palm tree? Any other form of plant life?

We're trying to make the character more unique but instead he's telling us 'no I want them to look more like something that already exists.'

All you're literally saying. You're alone on that opinion, nobody else is backing you up. Also, if you're gonna be this salty, why don't you just leave this forum post? You're the only one who has been continuously negative in this forum post. I already told you, the mushrooms are part of this champion's identity as a botanist. Everyone else has been digging the idea so maybe the problem lies with you

You previously tried stating I'm not open-minded, yet you're here trying to put words into my mouth that I didn't type, talking about I stated the mushrooms should be left simply cause 'it has to be a mushroom'? No jackass, I specifically said that it's part of the champions identity, because she's a botanist, and botanist study plant life as well as fungi. No, it can't be any form of plant life, because it wouldn't capture the theme of having many different adverse effects from eating mushrooms or medicinal herbs.

We're trying to make the character more unique but instead he's telling us 'no I want them to look more like something that already exists.'

How would that make the champion more unique? Yeah Teemo makes use of mushrooms, but their theme has been consistently the same, in that they're poisonous and only poisonous mushrooms. There is NO OTHER FORM of mushrooms in the game. In contrast, we already have a champion who's ALL about summoning a VARIETY of plant life. She doesn't just have one type of plant like in Teemo's case with his mushroom, she has SEVERAL plant-related spells. Also, it would simply be boring if it was only flowers, because it would look too visually generic to play as.

you should just quietly head back to your salt water ocean lol :p

I'm not salty dude. I'm trying to give advice to the guy and he's not getting it. I'm not insulting him, I'm not saying his idea is bad. Literally the first comment that started all this was someone else said was not to use mushrooms and I agree that this idea would be better if the ability didn't use mushrooms. He could literally use any other form of plant like says berries, or even some magical plant that's completely made up an only exists in the League of Legends universe. Instead, he's choosing to use mushrooms again, a things that is already distinctly iconic to basically one of the mascots of League of Legends.

Maokai not enough for you?

salvaro1 votes

Does Maokai plant and grow herbs and mushrooms that gives their allies special extra effects? The way I'm thinking this champion, it's more like as if playing as a farmer-themed champion, which the above commentators suggested could be a really cool skin, in that it would replace the champions herbs with vegetables, and the mushrooms would be replaced by fruits.

BastionKross1 votes

Maokai I'm all about saving the trees. Maokai Mostly because I am one.

salvaro1 votes

Wow, this number of downvotes is ridiculous, I guarantee you people aren't even reading the description and just downvoting based off the assumption that its a Zyra ripoff or something.

FloRaider421 votes

I can't speak for others, but I personally downvoted you because, so far the kit isn't presented properly and lacks gameplay plant seed-> wait for Herb/Mushroom -> Ally walks over -> rinse and repeat (Nasus farming simulator is more engaging) And you reply to negative, but constructive critisim by being salty

salvaro1 votes

Fair criticism, okay I will come back tomorrow (maybe) and do a more holistic spellkit, though not to the point of crunching all the numbers of all the spells' damage/cd/etc. it would take and whatnot. But you will know what her spells do, and if it is a damage spell, whether it's high, mid, or low-ranged damage. Sorry, it's just it's almost 5am over here

Caraméla1 votes

I agree to that but my comment about not giving real feedback was for the people that say he is like teemo/bard/brand/ahri whatever and not say anything else just to cut his creation down
