Seriously hope this gets somewhere, my friends all said they would buy this instantly.
I think having it as a toggle like DJ sona would be a good way to do this.
That said, it would have to be either legendary/Ultimate level skin.
And it changes every 3-5 minutes. That would be the best
There's a Christmas Maokai for winter, and a haunted Maokai for Halloween, which celebrate their own respective seasons. I don't think there's a point.

yeah they can up the visual effects for each season, always seeing leaves fall and change colour for fall, seeing snow fall and cold winds for winter, seeing occassional rain and things starting to grow for spring, and seeing a hot summer for summer lol
Although I don't play Maokai this would be a pretty good ultimate skin. The only question is how would you change seasons? The obvious answer is his abilities like Spirit Guard Udyr, but what are the connections that can be drawn between his abilities and each season?
Maybe depending on the season in real time you could start out that way in game?
So like if it's summertime in real life, he starts out summery and you can have the option to change him if you wish.
Just having it be on a timer would make the most sense
