I made a comment that is nearly identical to the lore down below (on a post titled "[Creativity Challenge] Alternate Universe Champions") and after getting feedback from several people, I decided to alter it and post this here. So feel free to share your thoughts if you like. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Also I don't really have an in-game kit in mind. This is just the lore for them. Hope you enjoy. If you dislike it, feel free to explain why! I'm open to criticism.

The Whispering Depths are a series of caves occupied by magically inclined individuals who do not fit in the outside world. The innards of the cave are cold, but plentiful. The occupants have everything they need to sustain their society without worry. With the area being completely dark, as well as the inhabitants each having horrendous to nonexistent eyesight, they all rely on the art of echolocation to traverse the caves and gather food and supplies. All, but for one anomalous girl, Aura.

Aura was gifted with the ability of vision, even in the completely unilluminated caves that her people inhabited. She had the capability of moving around more freely than the others, being able to see even the smallest detail in the rocks. Alongside this, having grown up amongst a tribe of otherwise blinded people, she too learned how to utilize sound waves to detect entities that were normally out of her normal vision.

Throughout her life, she intended on making use of both of these typically mutually exclusive capabilities by combining them with the magics she would learn from her own mother and father. They would teach her how to harness her inner strength to use basic combat spells to defend herself from possible assailants. Having unusual talents, she combined these simple incantations into what she believed to be a new form of combat magic: Shock-wave spells.

Using a mixture of these abilities, she ventured deeper into the cavern where no one else had gone before. Moving past many obstacles and evading numerous narrow ledges, she fearlessly continued forward until she reached what appeared to be the end of the lengthy series of tunnels, to discover some type of nest made of stone. Before she was able to approach it, however, several giant badger-like mammals dug through the rock and rested at the spot which she was just moving toward. Soon after, a single young one curiously approached, as if attempting to befriend her. As she stepped away, it stepped forward to match her movement. With the parents making no aggressive movements to stop them, the young creature followed her out of the length of the tunnel, as if imprinted on her. She decided to keep it and name her "Mira."

As Aura grew into her teens, Mira also grew right alongside, and was eventually of comparable size to the creatures she first encountered several years ago. With her becoming too large to keep in the village, she decided it would be in everyone's interest for both of them to move out, and find other places to explore. When they attempted to leave the cave, however, there was a single major inhibitor: the Sun. It was far too bright for their delicate eyes, and so they had no choice but to stay. However, as Aura sat at the mouth of the cavern, wondering what to do, she noticed something. The Sun would eventually dither in its brightness. The bright white turned to yellow, then orange, then dark red, and eventually would turn to black. With the outside now being as dark as the cave she came from, the two ventured out in hopes of finding something to shield their eyes so they may travel out at daytime.

She soon was able to fashion a pair of goggles for herself, but was unable to do anything for Mira. It did not mean much, though, as she was fully capable of following her by digging underground. She would come up either at night or at very crucial parts of the day, but her daytime visits would always be brief, as it pained her greatly to be out in the Sun. Aura and Mira grew as the best of travel buddies, and of course, the best of friends.
