@Riot: An explanation on skin costs

Title says it all! I would like to understand how skin prices are assigned. Why? Because I'm trying to understand how the following can be reconciled.

Pop Star Ahri (975 RP)

Features:

  • A special recall animation that even has music.
  • It makes the blue buff monsters dance.
  • Custom sound on Q
  • Color effect changes on Q
  • Unique dance
  • Overall re-skin of the champion

Summary: This skin brings a lot to the table for 975 RP. I picked this up when it was 1/2 off just to have an Ahri skin while I wait for Dynasty to go on sale and after using it, I conclude this is worth getting even at full price; it is an amazing skin.

Blood Moon/Silverfang/Nurse Akali (975 RP)

Features:

  • Overall re-skin of champion including weapons

Summary: I feel like I may have been ripped off... especially since all my Akali skins (I have all except All-Star) were picked up at full price. Perhaps these should have been 780 RP? Let's compare to one in that tier!

Arctic Warfare Caitlyn (780 RP)

Features:

  • Overall re-skin of champion including weapon.

Summary: This is in line with the Akali 975 RP skins... yet is not as expensive.

Conclusion:

While I would be upset if the 975 RP Akali skins were price reduced (as I paid full price) to 780 RP, this would fix the discrepancy. Ideally, I would love for the Akali 975 RP (and all 975 RP skins for all champs that don't have this) to get recall animations. Akali has zero recall animations on any skin* and it would be awesome if she at least had them on her top tier skins.

I am sure there are other champions/skins that can be used to illustrate this wide disparity in apparent value per RP tier across skins.

* I can't confirm this for All-Star as I do not have the skin.

Riot has already talked about this. There are some exceptions where some champs have had more work done on their skin and they sell it for lower.

Meanwhile Arcade Sona fits into the 975 Category, not 1350. While i agree this skin was Absolutely worth 1350 on release ( being the First arcade skin and all), with the arrival of new arcade skins of the same price, Hecarim and MF, Sona falls short of the bar set by those skins. She has no awesome recall animation, and to be honest, she falls in a weird crack between 975 and 1350 based on the description of each tier, but matched next to other 1350's (especially the arcade line) and Sona falls flat :( The Newer arcade skins have this awesome 8-bit arcade feel to them, while Sona is just... really glittery. Now match Arcade Sona V.S. Battle Cast Vel'koz, Project Yasuo, Mech Kha'zix, Eternum Rek'sai, etc, It become clear Sona falls short of this price range's Skins. I'd Really rather see her get some love towards this skin, then to see her reduced to 975, I love Arcade Sona, I've owned it for nearly 2 years now :D, but once Arcade MF came out and I supported her in lane, I suddenly got really disappointed with my own skin.

975 RP skins feature a new model, textures and splash image; some skins in this tier will feature new animations, visual effects and sounds where appropriate for the theme of the skin.

Skins in the 1350 RP tier will feature a new model, textures, splash image, animations, visual effects and sounds. In some cases, these skins will also have processed voice overs.

It has a completely new vo... although the particles are meh. Compare that to someone like brolaf, who has an awesome vo but that's it.

Lower Charred Maokai's cost. that VU has made it quite clear that it's not a 975rp skin.

All-star Akali is just like her other skins. No animations, audio, spell effects, or other candy, just a reskin of the champ and a splash art.

Agreed. Some kind of differences other than a re-skin would be nice for 975 RP skins. I got Kitty Katarina, and I'm assuming now it's 975 because it's a legacy skin. But when I bought it, I thought there would be some kind of new particles or something, but nope, just a re-skin. Granted it is a special re-skin, but still....it needs something besides that! You can barely see it at game height!

I got all my skins for 490 RP with mystery gift trading so I can't complain =3

I always assumed that Ahri skin must have been the most expensive. Interesting though because even with all those special effects I still prefer Foxfire.

My personal favorite is Dynasty, which I'm going to pick up soon. I'll probably also snag the Dauntless/Champion Ahri when it comes out. Foxfire is pretty awesome though and may be a purchase in the distant future.

this honestly reminds me of my problem with nutcracko, its a 975 skin but unlike his other 975 its only a re-skin no recall(no nutcracker jack in the boxes D: ) its still my favorite shaco skin i just wish it had a bit more
