Influences behind the newest new base skin for GP?

All I could think after seeing the new base skin of GP was how much he reminded me to John Silver from The treasure plante (the Disney film). Has he been kind of an inspiration for this new GP or is it just a coincidence? Also I'd be pretty happy to know if there is any other character who have inspired you guys during this rework!
