Cinder - The Knight of Flames

http://i.imgur.com/3ESqqog.jpg

Cinder is a Demacian knight that wears armour, weapon, and shield imbued with flame. The flames that reside in his garbs fuel him to battle, for they grow restless when idle... battle is the only thing that is sating.

Summary

Cinder is a front line tank who excels in teamfights due to his disruptive nature and ability to soak damage. In a split push situation, he lacks the abilities to really shine due to his sporadic damage; however, in teamfights he can get on the back line, lock them down, and soak up damage to give his allies the time to get there to finish the job.

Abilities

https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/diablo.gamepedia.com/b/b4/Strong_Constitution.png Passive - Flame of Revenge

Whenever Cinder takes damage from basic attacks, he gains a stack of Flame of Revenge.

When Cinder reaches 4 stacks of Flame of Revenge, flames erupt from under his armor, dealing damage to all enemies around him and granting bonus attack speed.

https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/diablo.gamepedia.com/d/db/Charge.png / https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/diablo.gamepedia.com/7/7d/Impale.png Q - Flameguard / Bladeburn

Toggles between Shield and sword to just holding sword

Flameguard - Grants increased armor and magic resist for attacks coming from his front

__ Bladeburn__ - Grants increased attack range, and causes autoattacks to apply minor burn damage over time to the target.

https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/diablo.gamepedia.com/8/80/Deliberate_Defense.png W - Blazing Bash

Thrusts his shield forwards with massive force, slightly knocking back enemies struck and damaging them.

If Cinder uses Blazing Bash on an enemy during the Re-activation of Bond of Flame, that enemy will be stunned instead of knocked back.

https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/diablo.gamepedia.com/a/af/Leap.png E - Magma Lash

Leaps forward with his sword in hand, slamming the ground as he lands. This causes the earth to split open and create a small pool of lava that lasts for awhile.

Enemies inside Magma Pools will take damage.

https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/diablo.gamepedia.com/f/f3/Ancient_Spear.png R - Bond of Flame

Cinder launches a flaming chain forward, connecting it with any champion hit. Champions hit by the chain cannot walk out of range of Cinder. If Cinder moves away, the chains break. The chain lasts for a brief time.

Re-activating Bond of Flame will cause Cinder to pull the chain strongly towards himself, sending the bound champion towards Cinder.

Details

Cinder's Flameguard / Bladeburn gives him the ability to trade effectively if the user is skilled at knowing when to use what stance. The key to a good Cinder player is the ability to mitigate autoattacks with Flameguard, then return with a __ Bladeburn__ auto. In teamfights, Flameguard is recommended to mitigate damage.

Cinder's Blazing Bash is a useful disengage tool, and can also be used effectively when flanking enemies to push a carry into your team. Also, it combines with Bond of Flame well, as you can use it to stun an enemy that is being pulled towards you.

Magma Lash is a great zoning tool to keep your enemies at bay. The magma pools don't do a ton of damage, but no enemy will want to stand in it for long. Use this tool to force your opponent to position to your advantage, and use it for pushing waves quickly. In teamfights, optimizing your magma pool placement is a great way to land extra damage on enemies that might not notice the flaming pool under them.

Bond of Flame can be used to lock down a single enemy, or to get an ally into the fight faster. Lashing Bond of Flame on your teammate lets you pull them towards you - just like an enemy. Be careful when aiming this in teamfights, as mistiming your ult could cause you to pull the wrong target.

Bond of Flame is also an excellent tool if you just use it to lock down a target. If you choose to not re-activate it, your enemy cannot get very far from you until they are bound by the chain. If a jungler is coming to assist you, lock down your enemy so they have to fight you.

Sounds like you really liked Dark Souls 3...

YES RITO PLS THIS IS AMAZING

I like it, but personally, I think you could make the Q a bit more interactive than basically just some stats. Take Jinx's Switcheroo, Pow-Pow and Fishbones both feel very visceral right from the switch. Bladeburn might get that feeling with the burn effect, but I really doubt the Flameguard would be noticeable.

Maybe something like, with Flameguard up every burst of Flame of Revenge provides a shield? Or something.

Other than that, this is pretty neat.

Honestly, can't really see why it got so much upvotes. It is average concept at best, maximum 30 min of work. I have seen much better concept shot down. And i mean so much better, with hours and hours of work put into them.

Weiner the Pooh5/30/2016, 7:57:57 AM3 votes

Nah this would never work. He needs more passives, a three hit proc, some percent health and some true damage.

Wyrmblade5/31/2016, 3:49:50 AM3 votes

I honestly think LoL's missing a realistic, no bullshit knight and this would be a really nice kit for it.

Darahgo5/30/2016, 3:59:08 PM3 votes

This champion concept is fantastic, I would be very excited to try and interested in maining something like this - not just for the kit, but for the background and flavor too.

I saw a couple comments about making his Q more interactive and had a potentially fun idea for it that would possibly make his trading and potential jungling more viable too - add an autoattack reset to it with bonus effects - like flameguard has a 1s slow or bladeburn gets splash damage like Kayle's E. I'm not too familiar with balancing and power budget and he seems like he already has really good CC and zoning - so maybe I'm being a little overambitious.

Tossing my hat into the RITO PLS ring here - I'd love to see you guys take this champion and further develop it!

Awesome post, Bluerex!

when I saw the ult I immediately thought "get over here". btw how do his W and E interact with his Q if at all?

Arakadia5/30/2016, 7:10:40 AM2 votes

I think that the Q could be more interesting, more then just stat buffs. Also he has 2 dashes which seem pretty good in range and strength. I suggest you make one of them an explosion of fire, something with his armor, or just change it overall. Overall this is a pretty friggen awsome idea and I'd play it in league 100%!

charcharmunro5/30/2016, 4:00:11 PM2 votes

Very similar in style and theme to how Ares is in Smite. I assume he was a big influence? The ult in particular is quite close to Ares' chain.

Mr J5/30/2016, 4:30:12 PM2 votes

Every time when I would play against him the second I die to him I'll get Dark Souls flashbacks and curl into a ball of sorrow and regret for a few minutes.

looks like the model of leona, but if she had some kind of skin for brand

jacobrobar5/30/2016, 6:00:25 PM1 votes

Yes I like cinder

Rozair5/30/2016, 6:27:59 PM1 votes

sounds really cool but he has so much cc. what would the cooldown on his ult be

Nikushimi Zero5/30/2016, 6:30:34 PM1 votes

Pretty interesting, however I would like to point out a few things I learned from my own past creations and from my time on the boards.

The first thing is the passive. I've had similar passives before, and I've been told that having such an inconsistent passive and an easy counter o "Don't attack them" is not exactly a good thing to have, but I digress on that. It all depends on the rest of it. How much the damage is, is there a cooldown to it, or does it go off every 4 attacks no matter what, etc. Still, like the idea.

The second concern I have is that ultimate. I love it, but I just can't help but think it is extremely broken and even worse than Illaoi's E since it has little to no counter except "Dodge it" or "get behind someone". It locks them into an area, and most likely that area would be the range of it which I can't believe it is more than 600-800 units. So once they are hooked there is little chance of any counterplay.

Though, I suppose another counter is force him to walk away IF that works. You say it breaks if he walks away, but does that include: Fears, Charms, Knock Backs, Knock ups, etc? However, since I imagine he would be built quite tanky, I don't see him walking away willingly so once you're hooked as I said, especially if he has to walk away willingly, there is very little you can do once hooked. Kinda reminds me of Scorpion a bit except the chain stays a bit longer.

Another thing with the ultimate is the ability to hit an ally with it. I just imagine a Cinder player getting salty, dives too early and an ally squishy has low health so doesn't help, and he ults them, pulls them to "help" but it only gets them killed instead, and Cinder's just being extremely trolly to their team when they get salty. Not a good thing to have. I like that you can hook allies, but I just imagine it being a really trolly thing for Cinder players to do against a team or ally they're annoyed with.

Another question on the ult is this. What determines "Walking away" for the ultimate? Turning your back on the target, moving so many units away, or moving out of range of the chain? Clarification would be nice.

I see a lot of people upvoted this so they definitely like the concept and idea, and albeit it is very interesting and I like it myself. I just wonder on many of the mechanics that he would be doing. Whenever I create a concept I think of them in play and how they would work. I see him being one of those front line fighters like Illaoi, Garen, Voli, Darius, or Singed that you don't want to get near at all if they are ahead or even if they aren't which makes him a very slippery slope of a champion. I see Cinder being one of those "You can't attack them, can't be in range of them, or you're probably fucked" kinda champions. The passive makes it ill-advised to attack them, the E makes it hard to escape (albeit not impossible) the Ult-W combo makes it incredibly hard to escape (almost impossible if hooked), and the Q is pretty standard so it all depends on its scaling and whether or not it resets auto's or not and the cooldown for the switch.

Overall though, good concept. Keep up the good work! I'd love to see how he fits into league with his lore and why he uses flames and how it is inherent with him. Keep it up! ^_^

EDIT: Also reminds me so much of Dark Souls 3 since Cinder is a keyword in that game and this has to do with flames. XD

looks like a champion i woulda enjoy playing, great concept!

Kayle and Leona lost sister :P

SykeEleven5/30/2016, 7:00:14 PM1 votes

You should make it that when he reactivates R - bond of flame he yells "GET OVER HERE".

Special interaction with yellow jacket shen, if he ulties Cinder while he is using bond of flame shen yells "FINISH HIM" If Cinder uses R - bond of flame on yellow jacket shen, shen replies "You copycat" If Cinder uses R - bond of flame on frozen shen, shen replies "I'm having deja vu"

ModAcademy Kayn5/30/2016, 8:44:17 PM1 votes

Read it and I think it's pretty simple and neat. Really nice. Only thing I could comment on is his Passive. "Flame of Revenge" is a tad of a mouthful when "Vengeful Flame" could also fit the same idea.

invisiblecat15/30/2016, 11:34:26 PM1 votes

He seems a little too brutal to be demacian

His W should have something that goes with when he's only using his sword. But overall, awesome

item 3070

Choirmaestro5/31/2016, 6:33:03 AM1 votes

I think it would be a good idea for his ultimate to be a "channel," so that you can have an opportunity to have an ally stun him... For example, (item 3751 = Cinder FYI) item 3751 uses R to "hook" Lucian , then re-activates to slowly draw him in, but Leona QQ and the chain explodes, dealing minor damage to Lucian , and slowing him for a short time, and item 3751 R's cooldown is reduced by 25% (or some number) (minor damage/slow so that it's not a completely bogus waste of an ult)

Capt Milkshakes5/31/2016, 1:59:32 PM1 votes

Cough cough

All jokes aside, this seems like a really cool champion concept. I'd main the hell out of it. You have my up-vote sir.

Edgelord90005/31/2016, 4:56:02 PM1 votes

I personally love this concept. It's simple and not too over powered. Much better than what I've come up with. I would like if you were to expand on his lore though. I see some great potential there :).

Not trying to bash the originality here, but this is like if you took Ares from Smite, and threw him in Dark Souls
