WHY NO SKINS?

I was curious to know is there any other characters out there with the lack of alternative skins? I adore Sivir however she only has 2 alternative skins while at the same time I play Morgana who has close to 5. Is there a reason for this? Or is there any other characters with hardly any alternative skins at all?

I've only recently starting in May so I'm curious to know do they ever release skins randomly? I love the PAX Sivir skin but it looks like it ran it's course and it's retired.

Sivir has 6 skins (counting PAX, for which even the codes have been disabled): Warrior Princess, Spectacular Sivir (Just wait for the Disney vault to open again! You'll get a chance.), Huntress (Admittedly this is the champions bundle. A little on the expensive side, but better now that flex bundles is a thing.), Bandit, PAX, and Snowstorm.

If you wait until Christmas, they will probably put Snowstorm back in the store if its not already. They usually bring back the previous year's skins each holiday. I think I didn't get her while it was available, they remade it available for a Snow Bundle. I got it that way.

And to further answer your question. Not randomly. It has to do with what concepts they come up with (the stronger, the better), they have limited resources to publish new skins (can only do so many at once!). But also they have to make money, so unfortunately, popularity can be an influencing factor. But they seem to try to create skins for champs that haven't had one in a while or just don't have many ways for you to celebrate that champion!

As it stands now though, there are like over 350 skins in the game. Maybe 400+. Hard to count.

There are a few skin categories:

Permanently Available - These you can straight up go buy.
Legacy - These have been pulled from rotation and may come back at Riot's discretion for brief sale periods. I referred to this tier as the "Disney Vault" earlier.
Retired - Subcategory of Legacy where they were removed, I think for quality reasons. Spectacular Sivir is one of these, where Snowstorm Sivir is a Legacy skin but not retired.
Limited Edition - Sold for one window of time and permanently removed. Will not return to the store. These can include some event skins like Pax or GamesCon skins that you have to obtain via code given out by hand by Rioters at the event.
Holiday - These come from Snowdown Showdown (the Christmas Season), Harrowing (Halloween), Lunar Revel (Chinese New Year's), and maybe Valentine's Day (?). These come out right around/following the holiday in question, and then become Permanently Available, Legacy, or Limited Edition after a certain time window. Typically 1-2 weeks.

There's a couple exceptions here and there but you get the idea. There is no telling when some skins will come back. But Mostly Permanently Available and Owned skins are visible in the client's store. http://www.lolking.net/models Has a model viewer where you can view the model of a skin. Keep in mind that it is not a Riot sponsered website, someone did it in their freetime. It is not perfect, and it does not do particles and sounds. Some champs, like Xerath, won't appear properly. But you can get an idea for what skins are out there.

The main issue here is how long the champ has been out and available. Some champions, Jinx have their one that was sold with the champ at release, whereas ones like Ashe, who has been in league from the beginning have numerous (7 or 8 I believe IIRC). Time will give them more to use but your patience will be rewarded in the end, I mean look at the upcoming MF skin...I'm dying from the wait.
