Outer Turret Shields
So recently RiotScruffy posted a preseason development that mentioned adding a shield to the outer turrets to make laning phase a bit longer. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/8iZVJvTA-preseason-development-update-1 It would be made of up five pieces, and each piece can be destroyed individually and give a small amount of gold locally. On top of this, the towers would also do a bit more damage to champions to make tower diving more risky in the early game. I really like the idea, but there are some critiques I wanted to make.
First off, the current design of the shield is just plain ugly. https://imgur.com/XNDAwLh Those little doll looking things make it feel like League took a small trip back to the original look of the map.
I like the prior idea for the shields that was brought up rather than this one. https://imgur.com/D9SFGUw It looks a lot nicer, and fits better with the turret's theme.
Now something I think they did get right with the current design is having the shield being lower to the ground so it doesn't take up too much visual attention. So I was thinking about making the shield look like the early concept, but have it rise out of the ground up to half the height of the turret like the current prototype.
Here is a crude sketch of the idea I had for the shield: https://imgur.com/a/hMCvhVh Note; the colors and shapes of the shield pieces in my little mock up are not at all final. I feel that this design would work much better than either of the two in the development post.
Another thing I wanted to bring up was the extra tower damage. I think some of the extra tower damage should be tied into the shield pieces, so that another benefit to taking them out is that it becomes easier to tower dive. You could also add glowing crystals to the shield pieces to visually show that the tower is more powerful with the pieces up.
This was all just my two cents on the matter, but I hope you guys would agree that it's nicer than the prototypes.
