Can We Be Honest About Adding a Custom Mode?

In an age where we have Mario Maker 2, Dota 2 Custom games, Halo modding on steam, etc., would it really be that challenging for the Riot servers to have a custom games mode? The whole point of TFT was, as stated by Riot, to utilize preexisting models in a new game mode. With mixed reviews and play rates of each random game mode Riot has released, and with Riot working on a multitude of other projects, why not leave it to the creatives of the community to make fun and different game modes.

Without custom games in World of Warcraft, we wouldn't have Dota. Without Dota, we may not have League. And without Dota custom game modes, there wouldn't have been an Auto Chess, which means there wouldn't have been a Team Fight Tactics.

If you make a simple Forge mode that allows players to make their own maps and rules, more resources could go to other projects AND it would generate more interest in the game.

Isn't that worth working past a server issue?

One correction: DotA (Defense of the Ancients) was a custom map for WC3 (inspired by StarCraft's AoS). The people who made it then formed Riot Games and released LoL in 2009. Dota 2 (not an acronym) was released in 2013.
