Pantheon Rework Idea

So I was thinking about how Riot would very likely turn pantheon's Q into some sort of skill shot because that is something simple and obvious that could be done, such as him chucking the spear or jabbing it similar to how Xin does. Then it reminded me of stick wars, a little flash game that involved Spartans and they'd chuck their spears, but upon chucking them they'd be left without a weapon and as such defaulted to a small dagger. So then, I thought... what if the new pantheon worked that way too?

Passive: Three Hundred _Pantheon gains the ability to critically strike his enemies with a basic attack below a certain threshold of health. When pantheon is outnumbered his will to fight becomes more fervent, increasing the threshold based on the number of enemy champions nearby. _ Q: Spear Strike / Cutthroat Spear: Aim your spear into a targeted direction and jab your opponent, dealing more damage at the tip of the jab. Dagger: _Pantheon swipes his dagger in a cone, dealing more damage at the base of the cone. _ W: Unbreakable Will / Aegis of Zeonia Spear: Pantheon gains 4 shields that surround his body that serve to protect him and are good for blocking 1 spell or auto attack. Taking a turret shot breaks all the shields. Upon recasting pantheon calls forth the nearest shield to his front to protect him. Dagger: Pantheon leaps at an enemy and bashes them with his shield, stunning them.

E: The Tools of War A toggle ability, allows you to switch between the use of a dagger or your spear. When toggling between the spear to a dagger, pantheon's next Q will toss the spear instead of using it to jab. Spear: Gain a longer auto attack range but less base damage. Dagger:Gain a shorter auto attack range but more base damage.

R: Grand Skyfall Unchanged

Just to explain the fantasy a bit more, I imagine this kit would belong to that of a bruiser/fighter, an assassin (how pantheon is currently played) does not really fit the role of a gladiator in my eyes when they are all about beating their chests and screaming at the top of their lungs when assassins prefer to kill you without saying a word.

With that out of the way, please let me know what you guys think of my idea!

Personally, I'd switch that dagger for a short sword, as it's what Hoplites usually wore.

Also, I'd change the passive name to Last Stand to avoid a real world reference (also, it was a total of 1400 greek soldiers the ones who fought at that certain battle, 300 of them being from Sparta).

His W is real cool, as it really reflects how one would fight with a shield. You'd use it to block when on formation, together with the spear. You'd use the sword when out of formation, and use the shield more aggressively.

I'd change the fact that his Sword (or dagger) gains bonus damage to bonus critical damage increasing with skill level, as well as granting bonus movement speed when changing to spear.

Much like Necrit I feel like Pantheon is honestly going to be the first champion to die in the lore since the next Pantheon ascendant can be his rework replacement! This isn't a bad idea though, I like what you've got here.

Id love to see pantheon as a non skill cap MANLY champion. with no Target skills in first place And Id love to see a mechanic on him that kinda forces him to MANLY play.

example:

Passive (P) Pride of the hoplite (area of detecting enemies: 1500)

Pantheon gains Pride stacks for every second of being in combat with enemy champions or epic monsters.

Pride increased tenacity, cooldown reduction , movement speed towards enemy champions,

Pantheon receieves increased damage from enemy champions when attacked by them from behind.

If pantheon doesnt go towards enemy champions or triggerred epic monsters, he also gains Shame debuff for every second of being in combat. Stacking is tripled against melee champions for up to 7 stacks of shame. Shame Pantheon receives 6/12/18/24/30/36/42 flat movement speed debuff depanding of shame stacks. In addition, on max stacks of shame, he cannot receive shielding, healing, gold or expirience from any sources for next 10 seconds.

For the rest of the kit it would be nice to see some riven yasuos aatrox or braums kit

Q a low cooldown skillshot spear thrust that slows and cripples and has reduced cooldown if hits champion

Q + W = stronger form for more risk damage slow and cripple Q+ W + E a spear throw that has a knockback and can pierce to walls for Q( with gladius has a shorter range and lower damage but can crit and its animation time reduction scales with AS)

W a low cooldown dash (only ahead to the directon pantheon is facing like riven Q) (after the dash pantheon raises the shield, dash cd resets after hitting enemy with any other other spells) Blocking Reduces oncoming damage of next spell or attack by pantheon AD supportive to rest of the kit

E drops spear on the ground and enables gladius thrust (Q) and on 2nd cast is a gladius slash which s is an aoe attack similar to yasuos q .

R unchanged

scaling AD CDR HEALTH ARMOUR/MR CRIT AS animation time -AS Q (safe source of dmg) ad lethality ( becouse high base dmg) burst and poke W range scales with MS time with AS E - AD AS CRIT dps skill

Spear form - high base dmg good for poking and farming. Gladius form- gigh dps low base dmg

Lanes : Top jungle support adc mid

good at :Penalizing casting and last hitting

weakness: Backstab mechanic can makea single mistake lead to a bad extended trade

Love the idea of weapon swapping. Actually used it in my own rework with other member Ralanr (check my discussions if interested).

I actually really like the W.

I'd point out that Spartans aren't Gladiators, and the Spartans were actually famous for not talking much. To the point we get the word Laconic from them. But that's got just about nothing to do with your rework.

I also support the idea of giving Pantheon a dagger for his rework perhaps similar to Evelynn's Q however, where if he lands his (skillshot) spear it transforms into the dagger allowing him to follow up. I'd like to see Panth gain more dueling and outplay potential opposed to his singular combo atm, a toggle ability is an interesting take as well I admit, especially your idea for the W in spear form.

If like to see you define how W - spear form works a bit better. Also is like to ask why u decided to give him that particular passive?

I do really like the kit tho it's simple and I think it delivers on his theme well while updating it and increasing the skill ceiling, though I think u can do more to increase the fluidity and cohesiveness of the kit, such as picking up the spear after E->Q will shorten E or Q's CD.
