Skill capes in league?

I think it would be cool if there was skill capes in league similar to the capes in Runescape but you would get one if you had a large amount of xp with your champion for eg 100k,500k or 1m i know what your thinking isn't that going to take allot of work but you would just need one standard cape to give all champions "how about skin?" i think the capes would be cool if they were put in a chroma tab like all the other chromas so you have the choice of using the cape or not "what if a champ already has a cape" if the champ already has a cape the new cape would replace it and also i would like to talk about the design of the cape i think it would be cool if the cape was red with a riot symbol on it or the amount of xp that you have on the champ would be displayed please give me feedback on this idea.

NEW IDEA: special boarders for champ mastery eg project skins and the vintage boarder for old Halloween skins

why give champs a cape? doesnt sound very interesting to me. Getting a skin for high mastery on the other hand would be great. Just a simple chroma skin would already be enough. Edit: Capes just dont seem like a worthwhile achievement at all. Why ruin my champ with him suddenly having a cape. Just think how ridiculous some champs would be with capes.

i thought of capes because they are easier to create rather then a whole skin for a champ

...how does Vel'Koz wear a cape?

In seriousness though, I think a Mastery Skin would be a better approach to the problem, as animating a seperate cape for every champion seems...overly difficult. I'd prefer a more subtle cosmetic though, as then players don't have to choose between showcasing their mastery and having a skin they like -- a much more dramatic animation for higher mastery levels would be my preferred method of doing something like this, provided it could be done in a way that it's not confusing in combat.

i had this other idea where it would just be a gold version of each classic skin but then it would mess with the zhonyas stasis effect and bards ult but capes on another hand would be easy and painless to make rather than a whole skin and i dont think riot would like to make over 100 skins for free

You still have to animate and place the cape for over 100 different champions (some of whom have awful anatomy or models for this -- Cho'Gath, Vel'Koz, form-shifting champions), as well as deal with the loss of clarity as capes obscure identifying geometry of champions.

It's actually a TON of effort for the animation and bug-testing team. Remember how glitched the Draven heads were for April Fools due to placement and facing issues? This would be that level of complexity again, plus animations, plus actually worrying about placing it properly on every champion.

very true but lets just face the fact that anything on that big of scale is going to be hard for riot to make but i think riot has a big enough staff to at least take a stab on doing something related to master related cosmetics

BTW: item 3078 of damage

Which is why I don't think it's likely: Riot's Art & Design staff isn't as big as people tend to think, actually.
