[Champion Concept] Garrick The Swashbuckler Revenant
Garrick the Swashbuckler Revenant
Background/Lore: Garrick was born and raised in the Bilgewater, living up to the city's notorious reputation of thieves and lowlifes, Garrick chose to follow the pirate life to make his mark in the world even though his friendly personality said differently, in his prime he was recruited as Lieutenant under the command of Gangplank, aboard The Dead Pool for about a year after becoming fairly known for sacking trade routes, leading midnight raiding parties, and one of-if not the best fighter on the seas with his swords before his unfortunate end.
Garrick’s undoing was his loyalty to Gangplank wholeheartedly. Underneath Gangplanks seemingly brotherly bond with Garrick, was fear. Fear that Garrick would usurp him one day as the Scourge of Bilgewater, as Captain of_ The Dead Pool_, as leader of his crew, he could already see the need to be greater in Garrick’s eyes, and the crew were living up more and more to Garrick each and every week--no, Gangplank could not let this mutiny in the making go any further, he had to do something quick.
In an enormous journey to the other side of the world that took well over two weeks to reach, Gangplank and his crew reached the western coast of Demacia, Gangplank threw up an expedition to his crew that Demacian villages along the coast needed raidin’ to set things in motion, for Gangplank knew he could not just make Garrick walk the plank, he felt it might cause an uprising on the spot since Garrick has many friends aboard_The Dead Pool_- this would have to be made an “accidental” death. Off the western coast late in the night Gangplank spotted a rather fortified Demacian coastal village, it had a good strong garrison within’ its area that was surely there from previous raids and was sure to heat things up.
It all started with the bell tower signaling their cover had been blown. Gangplank split up the crew into raiding parties to loot more ground, he took Garrick, and four of his other crewmates into their raiding party to deal with the garrisons guards. At least a dozen if not more stoic, dreary Demacians came pouring out to meet the pirates head on. Garrick well known for his lethal sword skills made quick work of the first three warriors while Gangplank and his crew were locked in combat for the next few minutes. After what seemed to go by rather quick, the bell was rang by The Dead Pool signaling that they got what they came for and they can leave. Actually wounded from one of those pesky warriors, Gangplank was limping back to where the ship made its dock followed by only Garrick, who was also short of breath and worn from battle, Gangplank saw the opportunity and struck. Covered by the darkness, Gangplank drew his renowned pistol and shot Garrick straight through the chest as he fell over into the murky water, making his escape Gangplank drudged onto his ship and set sail back to Bilgewater, confidence once again high and sure that Garrick would not be a problem to him any longer.
The story of Garrick didn’t end there, still barely alive Garrick awoke drifting in the sea on a empty barrel. After a few days he did finally succumb to his fatal wound but not before he drifted along the current north west to the feared Shadow Isles shoreline where it is unknown how or why Garrick reanimated to the being that he is today, some speculate it has to do with the corrupted lands of the Shadow Isles while some think it is Garricks hatred for Gangplank egging him onwards, many think he is enslaved to finish his task, but this is all a mystery--what is known is Garrick has returned and seeks out his dispatcher on the fields of justice, along with a few new tricks to accompany his deadly skill with a blade.
**Appearance: **A somewhat spectral male that has a rather undeadly skin look to him. Wielding two cutlasses, and has shredded, torn, wet leather boots/apparel attached to him. Notably a hole through his back protruding out his chest. The classic blue flame look that most of the Shadow Isle characters have with them could even be incorporated here.
**Personality: **I’d like to see Garrick as a character that retains some of his human emotion and get’s torn mid sentence/thought by loathe/anger/revenge that hints he is either forced to think this way by a higher power or that he is still trying to remember who he once was.
