Shade, Guardian of Souls [Champion Concept]

Lore
When a being dies, their spirit does not simply shrivel away. The souls of those who pass on are instead taken to the Shadow Isles by a great guardian. Shade’s father was once this guardian. He swore to guide and protect the souls of the dead from any dangers that may lie beyond the world of the living. As young boys, both Shade and his brother dreamed that one day they too would become as great as their father. However, only one of them would be granted this opportunity.
The relationship between Shade and his brother slowly decayed as they would relentlessly attempt to out-perform one another in front of their father. When the day came for their father to choose which son would replace him as the guardian of the dead, they were both exhilarated and fearful for who would be bestowed this great responsibility. To Shade’s delight, his father made him his successor. Shade’s brother, however, was both furious and insulted by the choice. Before Shade could even thank his father, his brother knocked him aside. He attacked his father, strangling him with a chain. Before his brother could finish choking their father, Shade pleaded to him to stop. Reluctantly, he did. In a heat of rage and regret, Shade’s brother yanked their father’s lantern from his hands and ran into the twisted woods of the Shadow Isles, never to be seen again. Shade simply stood, staring at the maze of branches and leaves before him and, despite his new given responsibility, never felt so empty.

Abilities
Note: Shade uses Souls as a unique resource. He starts each game with 30 souls and gains 2 souls whenever a minion or small monster dies in a 700-range of him. Champions or large monsters grant Shade 10 souls. Shade can hold up to 100 souls and loses all souls upon death.
http://i.imgur.com/4BymrUe.png Passive: Eternal Guardian Guardian's Might: Shade’s basic attacks deal bonus magic damage equal to 4 + (2 x Shade’s level) + (0.25 per Soul). Resurrection: When an ally dies within a 1900-range of Shade, he holds onto their soul for 80 seconds (timer starts when the ally respawns). If the ally dies again within those 80 seconds, he will revive them with 30%/35%/40%/45% of their maximum health and 50% of their maximum mana. Shade can hold the souls of up to 2 allies. Shade cannot revive the same ally more than once every 280 seconds nor can he revive allies while dead.
http://i.imgur.com/jMJszKK.png Q: Specter Pulse Cost: 10 Souls --- Cooldown: 6 Range: 635 Shade releases a pulse that travels in a line, dealing 60/102/144/186/228 + (65% of AP) damage and knocking all enemies hit into the air for 0.5 seconds.
http://i.imgur.com/YLDNV2L.png W: Spirit's Path Cost: 0 Souls --- Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 Mist Radius: 30 Shade gains 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% movement speed and generates 5 souls every 0.5 second for 2 seconds. Shade will also leave a trail of mist behind him during those 2 seconds that will last for 1.25 seconds, granting any ally that enters the mist stealth. Allies who cast abilities, attack, are damaged or leave the mist will lose stealth. Allies cannot regain stealth upon losing it.
Any allies whose soul is being held by *Resurrection* will gain equal movement speed for the duration.
http://i.imgur.com/UNC56JS.png E: Protector's Wrath Cost: 20 Souls --- Cooldown: 10/10/9/9/8 Range: 130 Damage/Slow Radius: 560 Shade slams his fist into the ground after a 0.5 second cast, cracking the earth in an area, dealing 60/100/140/180/220 (+60% of AP) damage and slowing all enemies hit by 30% for 1.75 seconds. After Protector's Wrath is cast, Shade gains a shield that will absorb 80/110/140/170/200 + (15% of Shade’s max HP) + (20/25/30/35/40 per enemy champion hit) for 2.75 seconds.
http://i.imgur.com/xk24Srb.png R: Deliverance Cost: 20 Souls + (10 x times cast after first cast) --- Cooldown: 140/110/80 Range: 900 Shade releases the souls he’s gathered and sends them after his enemies. Each soul will chase down a nearby enemy (up to 3), dealing 80/120/160 + (40% of AP) damage and rooting the first enemy they touch for 0.75 seconds. Shade can cast the ability repeatedly to release additional souls, costing 10 additional souls with each subsequent cast. Enemies take 20% reduced damage with each soul that touches them (down to 60% reduced damage).
Deliverance has a 1 second cooldown in between casts and will go on full cooldown if Shade does not cast it after 6 seconds.

Strategy
Shade is a tank at heart who is capable of going in the top lane, jungle or even support. He excels at giving his team another chance at fighting when all hope seems lost. His passive, http://i.imgur.com/8t2ddPq.png Eternal Guardian, allows Shade to revive his teammates if they fall behind. It also forces his enemies to reconsider fighting and instead focus on more objective control. However, Shade can also excel in team fights when they do happen. http://i.imgur.com/y7lMuWa.png Spirit's Path is his main engage ability. Casting it grants Shade movement speed as well as more souls, giving him more resources to cast abilities. However, the main part of the ability is the mist trail that Shade leaves behind. This mist trail grants any ally who enters it stealth. This can be great for giving the enemy team a false sense of security if they see you alone. When in a dangerous spot, Shade can also use his W as a disengage, concealing his allies, therefor making it harder for his enemies to follow up.
Shade's http://i.imgur.com/Jx8hmwV.png Specter Pulse and http://i.imgur.com/eQ4Feqg.png Protector's Wrath are great for laning tools. He can poke his adversary with his Q while using his E in trades. However, Shade must keep an aya on his soul count. He only gains souls when something, be it a minion, champion or jungle monster, dies near him. Poking the enemy while they are in between minions can give up a quick advantage by poking them with his Q and also hitting any minions in front or behind them, giving you a few souls back in return.
http://i.imgur.com/mF9uRSI.png Deliverance because increasingly dangerous the more souls Shade has collected. Each time it is cast Shade can send a mximum of 3 souls to chase his enemies, damaging and rooting them. The more souls he has, the more times he can cast it. This can be extremely effective when used after a successful W. The soul generation from Spirit's Path can top off Shade's soul count from 80 to 100, allowing him to cast Deliverance somewhere from 2-4 times. Be mindful though as Shade's ultimate will consume additional souls with each cast. Too many uses and Shade will not have any more souls to cast his other abilities.
Item Suggestions
Face of the Mountain is a good support choice as Shade is melee and it grants him and his lane partner some sustain which Shade lacks.
Mercury Treads work well on Shade as he can be kited fairly easily. The tenacity gained will allow Shade to follow his opponents more easily.
Talisman is also a good item. Although Shade does not benefit from the mana regeneration, the active movement speed boost can help Shade stick to his enemies while casting Deliverance.
Banshee's Veil is a great item similarly to Mercury Treads as it allows Shade to become more resistant to enemy crowd control.
Playing Against
If you are laning against an enemy Shade, separating yourself from your minions will force Shade to decide on whether to kill minions and gain souls or poke you. You can also harass Shade early on. Forcing him under turret while you freeze lane can negate him of almost half of his soul gain. Offensive champs like
Darius,
Renekton or
Riven can be effective counters to Shade's early game.
If the enemy Shade is jungling, be mindful of his ganks. Spirit's Path can take you by surprise thanks to his movement speed. Champions with easy to land stuns or blocks like
Ryze,
Veigar,
Morgana or
Anivia can keep an enemy Shade at bay. Champions who can counter jungle quickly such as
Lee Sin or
Shaco can also deny Shade of minions, decreasing his soul gain.
When in team fights, Shade will try to engage with Spirit's Path before casting Deliverance. Since Shade's only engage is through movement speed, engages from the from can be quite predictable. Be mindful if the enemy Shade is missing as he will most likely be behind you, ready to run in and engage. If you see Shade casting Spirit's Path but don't have vision of his allies, chances are he has them stealthed in his mist rail. Pass-through skill shots or AoE DoTs such as
Varus' Piercing Arrow or
Cassiopeia's Miasma can be effective to checking whether or not Shade has allies with him.
