Hello Creative Minds!
Oh hi, I almost didn't recognize you! You've grown up so much since my "departure" from the Boards! Well, golly, all this talk about SoloQ and DynamicQ... it's too much for the soul to handle! Why not give lil' ol' me a chance and keep reading?
OK, well after that awkward little intro, hello creative minds! I may have quit playing League of Legends awhile ago, but I still keep myself updated on all the juicy gossip. This game still does and always will hold a special place in my heart for igniting a long-lasting interest in the MOBA genre. But there are those who gather to a place called "Concepts & Creations," those who are just so creative and artistic, it makes me envy the talent of a good many individuals. But League of Legends is a slate that's been carved on time and time again, some carvings were beautiful, some recent ones are questionable... It's time to start on a clean slate, no? :)
Maybe not, but wouldn't it be nice? You see, I just so happened to want the same exact thing (ya think?) and I drifted away from League of Legends with that MOBA feeling in mind, and I decided to create a new "theoretical" MOBA. It started about three years ago, god time sure does fly, and it's grown into something with a strong base, but it can keep going further and further. This MOBA is called "Aria" (dramatic noises) and... I hope you're still with me.
So what makes Aria so special, so worth caring about? It may very well not be worth caring about by itself. But what is worth caring about is that it is a clean slate, a fresh beginning for your creative freedom, free from the restraints of a changing lore and the complications of gameplay niches. OK, sure, it's a slate with a few carvings so far, but it's much cleaner than League of Legends'! Only with the combined creativity of a few of you geniuses can it be made into something worth caring about!
So, basically, I'm asking for help! The central focus of any MOBA are its characters, and Aria is no different! Most of us in this section of the forums post our champion designs, so perhaps one of your champion designs can be part of something instead of sitting in the boards collecting upvotes/downvotes. But what I would love even more is if you could join to help create new characters! If you're an artist or a writer, it would also be amazing if you could join the party and provide concept art and write lores for the characters! All help is appreciated.
This is completely volunteer work, and I know that word "work" may strike a dissonant chord in your mind. All creative work is "work" either way you put it, but despite the fact that it's "work", we still create these concepts and do all this for fun, so let's also have fun in the process and create something we can truly be proud of. Though the slate has been carved on, things can be changed! The crappy website linked to this thread shows some things we have so far, though it isn't up to date whatsoever, simply because I've been too lazy and I've wanted to improve its crappiness, but haven't gotten around to it. Though it's still worth a look if you're interested!
I've been talking about you helping me here for a while, maybe I should talk about Aria itself! Aria takes place in yet another fantasy world ruled by the benevolent goddess Aria, whom the game is named after. But oh no! A portal into the Netherworld, the world of the dead, has accidentally been opened by a scientist doing experiments, and now the army of the dead are flooding into Aria's precious world, wanting to conquer it! But no worries, Aria has a plan: to gather those she chooses to fight in her army to fend off these vengeful fiends. These brave warriors are known as the "Destined", chosen by her grace and destined to fight in her army and save the world!
If for some odd reason you're still here and somehow interested, all you have to do is e-mail me at [email protected]. Or, if you prefer to chat on Skype, just add me: IcyJK913, but please rewrite the message "Hi! I would like to add you on Skype..." to say something like "Hey I saw your post I wanna help..." so that I know you're not a catphisher (I get those a lot for some reason). ;) If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this thread with said question. And above all else, be nice to people. :)
Thank You!
