May - The Soul's Bond

Primary Role: Support Secondary Role: Mage

Lore: The spirit was always considered an unknown to most. Religions have been raised and fallen around the concept of a body being piloted by a spirit. The concept seemed so far out of reach and so hard to prove to be true, that many gave up and took the road of science instead. Only a few really knew the potential that spirits could hold, and how devastating that may be.

May grew up on a small, rural town outside Demacia. She was neither gifted in arcane arts nor possessed prowess with a blade. Most of her time was spent with her twin brother, Dozan, in the forest just outside their village. They had grown up playing in that forest for years, it was as familiar to them as their own home. Their parents tried to warn them off, saying the forests were too dangerous to be considered a playground. Dozan and May, confident in their familiarity of the forest, ignored them day after day. Neither of them saw it coming. Not the fight that night between their parents. Not the feeling of being scared in their own home for the first time. Not the dark trip through the forest . Not the landslide that pinned Dozan under mud and rocks.

May dug furiously in the light of the moon to free Dozan. She worked furiously for hours, until the tips of the sunrise began creeping over the treetops. May, mind numb and fingers bloody, stopped what she was doing and looked. Dozan stared back up at her; eyes reflecting with the dancing stars across the night sky, yet looking distantly past her. His eyes focussed on her for the last time, and he smiled. Then Dozan was gone. May felt the sharp prickling of tears behind her eyes, threatening to force themselves forward. Then she felt a wicked sharp pain in her chest, so sharp that she cried out in pain. Falling unconscious, the last thing she saw was her brother's face before passing into the world of unconsciousness.

In her dreams, May saw Dozan again. not as he was when he died, but as he was when they explored the forest together. Dozan smiled at May, before whispering something to her. As he toughed her chest right where her heart was, May woke up screaming back in her room. it had been two days since they had been discovered by the townfolk from the village. May's parents raced into the room to see May again, and although she was happy to see them, she felt a heavy weight on her heart. Her ears kept ringing with the message Dozan gave her; his last gift to his twin sister: "Although death may separate us, the bond that makes up shall never separate."

Innate Ability - Essence Spill Ability One (Q) - Static Link Ability Two (W) - Lifeline Ability Three (E) - Distortion Bond Ultimate Ability (R) - Spirit Totem

Innate Ability - Essence Spill While a bond is active, May gains a 5(+1 x level; +0.025 Ability Power)% increase in her base health and mana regeneration. This stacks up to 5 times depending on the amount of bonds activate at the time. May can have several bonds active at the same time. Additionally, if she is bonded to an ally with any spell, they gain half of the regeneration bonus for as long as the bond affects them.

Ability One (Q) - Static Link

May cannels a bond to a totem up to 550 units away. While bonded with a totem, all enemies who pass through the bond take 15/30/45/60/75 (+0.2 Ability Power) magic damage per second but do not break the bond. May can channel a burst of energy into a bonded totem by right clicking it, causing the totem to explode after a 0.5 second delay, dealing 60/110/160/210/260 (+0.65 Ability Power) magic damage. This destroys the link and the totem. If May moves beyond 650 range of the totem, the link breaks and the totem remains intact. This bond lasts up to 6.0/6.5/7.0/7.5/8.0 seconds, and can have multiple bonds going at the same time.

Cooldown: 4/3.75/3.5/3.25/3 seconds. Mana Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 mana.

Ability Two (W) - Lifeline

May channels a bond to an ally up to 600 units away. While bonded with an ally, both May and the ally gains an immediate shield that blocks up to 30/60/90/120/150 (+0.3 Ability Power). The shield then gains 5/10/15/20/25 (+0.05 Ability Power) strength every half second, up to a maximum of 50/100/150/200/250 (+0.4 Ability Power). If another ally walks between the bond, or the bond is struck by a totem, the bond will break and heal all those involved for 50/75/100/125/150 (+0.4 Ability Power) + 10% of missing health. If the bond breaks, the shield begins to dissipate over 1 second. If an enemy breaks the bond by passing through it, they have their armour and magic resist reduced by 12/16/20/24/28 that decays over 3 seconds. Moving beyond 700 range of May and her target ally breaks the bond. The bond can last up to 6.0/6.5/7.0/7.5/8.0 seconds.

Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds. Mana Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana.

Ability Three (E) - Distortion Bond

May channels a bond to an ally or an enemy up to 525 units away. While bonded with an ally, both May and her ally gains 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% (+0.15 Ability power) bonus movement speed. Every half second increases the movement speed bonus by 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5% (+0.05 Ability Power), up to a bonus 5/10/15/20/25% bonus movement speed. If another ally walks between the bond, they gain 75% of the movement speed bonus but do not break the chain. If an enemy breaks the bond, they take 40/75/110/145/180 (+0.4 Ability Power) magic damage and are slowed by 60% that decays over 1 second. While bonded with an enemy, May steals movement speed from the enemy causing her to gain 4/6/8/10/12% (+0.15 Ability Power) movement speed instantly while they lose movement speed. This ramps up by 1.0/1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0% (+0.05 Ability Power) per half second, up to a total of 10/15/20/25/30% (+0.5 Ability Power). If an ally walks between the bond, or if May moves beyond 600 distance from the bonded enemy, or if the bond strikes a totem, the bond snaps and causes May to double the current movement speed bonus from Distortion Bond that decays over 1.25 seconds, and the bonded enemy is stunned for 1.25 seconds and takes 50/110/170/230/290 (+0.5 Ability Power). Enemies can break the bond, causing them to be stunned and take the damage instead of the initially bonded partner. The bond can last up to 5 seconds.

Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds. Mana Cost: 50/50/50/50/50 mana.

Ultimate Ability (R) - Spirit Totem

May can hold up to two totems charges at a time, and can summon a totem at a location up to 600 units away on cast that lasts up to 8 seconds. Each totem has 3 health (Similar to Zyra plants), and reveals the area around them. This ability is available at level one without the use of a skill point. At level two, the totem gains 2 health to make a total of 5, and the totems lasts up to 12 seconds instead of 8. At level three, May can hold 3 totems at a time instead of 2. At level four, the totems become invisible.

Cooldown: 0.5/0.45/0.4/0.35/0.3 seconds (15/13/11/9/7 seconds per charge). Mana Cost: 10/10/10 mana.

Ah ok so you are going for a shaman like champion? That's really cool. Upvote unlike all the angry 10 and 40 year olds.

Yeah she was kind of a shaman, but only in the sense of her powers. She's still pretty much the rural kid from her lore, just with shamanic powers and perhaps a little bit of a split personality (With her twin brother).

EDIT: Oops changed the lore, so she really isn't the rural kid anymore and is more shamanic like her abilities.

Creative and original! Im guessing she would go mid or support. Maybe explain how she got her powers. Its a little similar to Kindred in the twin-dualities tho.

Yup she is primarily a support but her kit and scaling allows her to go mid effectively too. I can rework the lore a little, I really didn't spend as much time as I could there. Oh I didn't actually think of it like that, I suppose its similar in that regard yeah. Maybe ill change it around to something more... different, to the other champs.

EDIT: I went and changed the lore. Now she is pretty different in that aspect too haha. What do you think?

I like it. I say this to other champion concepts, but I mean it here: I could, and want to, see this in League. Seems like alot of champion are just skillshots, dashes, cc, and target abilities. Shes like Zyra, or Heimerdinger, or my Champion Concept, Katyani. They actually have different gameplay. But she also requires skill. Sure she doesnt have skill shots, but positioning, communication, and focus are key to being succesful with her. Now all we need is to get Riot to see this!

Thanks for the positive feedback! Its nice to see positive for a change haha.

Neat idea, the totems and Q kinda remind me of a champion concept I made awhile back where you always had a clone like Shaco or LeBlanc... people didn't like it q.q

Thanks! Hmm that would depend on the clone and how massively the clone interacted with your champions abilities. I could see it being a cool concept there, maybe it just needed a bit of work. Not every concept turns out perfect first time y'know! Keep trying.

Yeah, it was basically like... You and your clone couldn't leave X proximity, they had an energy line that went between them and dealt DoT and cost mana per second, then had like a Veigar-like slow line that stunned if they were in it for more than about 0.5 seconds or something like that, had an ult that made them reverse places so they could basically keep one to fight, get low, swap places and be back to full health but they each sacrificed a bit of health % for being 2 people.

Kinda neat but I gotta admit myself its a bit too dynamic and would probably be harder than Bard.

Perhaps if you made the clone untargettable, invincible, and more like a shadow that you can cast abilities from. Then your ultimate or another ability could be to make that clone a targettable clone for a short time. Try this:

Innate Ability: Shadow Champion has a shadow that can move around at 100% of Champions's movement speed. This shadow cannot attack or move beyond 550 range of Champion, but interacts with Champion's abilities.

Ultimate Ability: Shadow Clone Champion's shadow return to him, making both him and his shadow invisible for 0.5 seconds. Once leaving invisibility, the shadow becomes a perfect clone of Champions for 15 seconds, with 100% of his current health and dealing 20/50/80% of his attack damage with basic attacks. If Champion dies, his soul transfers to his clone and he can pilot that. In doing so, he loses his passive shadow for 60 seconds, and his clone he takes over has it's current health reduced by 50%. This does not mean the champion has died - He has fully taken over the shadow clone as himself. If Champion's clone dies, he loses his passive for 60 seconds (affected by CDR).

How does that sound?

That's really neat actually. I can imagine it being like, a Zed follower, or someone that learned the Ancient ways too but fit them to be different. Maybe the Q I mentioned could be a part of Kennen, the W be turned into a short taunt line(lol, sounds like construction) like Shen, E could be a mark that his shadow creates on the closest enemy and he can slap it for extra damage and maybe some other buffs like a heal for Akali. Would be really neat, someone that kind of stole all their arts and made them into their own.

Hmm that's kind of cool but really hard to do. The whole steal and ability thing. I mean you could give it a shot, but maybe Fiora's Riposte is the closest thing around. Here's my suggestions for the champ idea, you can steal with it and do whatever you want with it:

Ability One (Q) - Shadowstrike

Champion fires a missile in a line that deal X (AD scaling) damage and explodes upon contact, marking enemies with Hallowed Vision for Y seconds. Enemies afflicted with Hallowed Vision have their vision reduced by 25%. Within 2.5 seconds, Champion can order his shadow clone to fire a second missile in a line to deal X (AD/AP Scaling) damage and explode on contact. Enemies hit by two missiles take 60% damage from the second missile. If an enemy afflicted with Hallowed Vision is hit by the clone's missile, they have their vision reduced by 60% and are feared for 1.5 seconds. This consumed the Hallowed Vision debuff.

Ability Two (W) - Shadowdash

Champion's clone has it's movement speed increased from 100% to 105/110/115/120/125%. (Change his Innate accordingly). Champion dashes in a line and strikes enemies he passes through, dealing X (AD Scaling) damage and slowing them by 20% that decays over 2 seconds and can stack twice. If the dash strikes Champion's clone, he gains the ability to dash again at no extra cost. He can continue to do this, but Shadowdash goes on cooldown after 3 consecutive dashes.

Ability Three (E) - Shadowlock

Champion sends his shadowclone to an enemy up to 600 units away, dealing X (AD/AP scaling) magic damage and slowing them by 50% for Y seconds. If Champion activates Shadowlock again within 2 seconds, the target becomes taunted and will attack Champion for Z seconds. If Champion strikes the target with a basic attack while they are slowed form the initial cast, they are stunned for V seconds instead of slowed.

Make use of that if you like it.
