A Champion with a "locked orbit" movement ability

The champion would cast the ability on a target, suspending the the user a set distance from the target. Either the user revolves around the target at a set speed, or moves freely in orbit. In effect, the target wouldn't be able to close the distance to the user for the duration while allowing the user to "hitch a ride" while still being able to cast abilites.

Caviats: would be kind of toxic if cast on melee characters **if **the rest of the kit allowed the champion to, say, kill the melee character. Therefore Ranged attacks would be too strong along with this ability. Skillshots might be fine. The ability would fit well, however, on an enabling support character, whom could use it to stay out of harms way while supporting.

What do you think, forumers?

Why would you do that? It would be like giving up control on the movement of your champion for a free ride along an enemy who can decide to go back to his team mates. Plus your pathway would be totally predictable.

Is there some kind of upside that I haven't identified?

it would look cool

As I mentioned, you'd be untouchable by attacks and abilities with shorter range than your orbit radius, and the target wouldn't be able to close the gap for the duration.

They'd also be unable to escape you for a while.

What happens if they decide to stick to the wall? Can you orbit around an enemy if they are surrounded by walls? Can you move through walls? If you orbit a champion, you will obligatorily be orbiting behind him at some point. AKA straight into enemy position where you will be sandwiched between 5 enemy champions.

  • your ability is only useful if your adc has a very long range like Caitlyn. It would completely useless if your adc has a shorter AA/ spell range.

EXCEPT if you want to orbit an enemy MELEE Champion but you said it yourself that it would be toxic.

All in all, it would look cool but I can't see it work.

I imagine the ability would work best by letting the user pass through terrain. Canceling the ability early would then let you drop off safely on the other side of a wall. The ability as a whole would be well suited as a disengage-tool; maybe a melee ADC could make use of it.

I also imagine the user should have SOME way of manipulating how he moves through the orbit radius. Maybe movement commans would move you a set distance trough the orbit, like 45 degree increments back- and forth.

I don't quite understand the point about adc. If I understand correctly, I imagine giving this ability to a ranged ADC would be too strong. 1v1 scenarios against short-ranged characters would be a bad experience for the victim.

Like with any other ability, the rest of the kit would have to allow for gameplay that makes the ability useful and interesting. I imagine it could fit nicely on a melee ADC, support, tank or fighter. It could act as a disengage-tool, tactical movement ability or simply as peel/initiation.
