Hraeslyn - The Scaled Steel (Champion Concept)

So far we have kled, sejuani, and quinn (somewhat) as mount champions, in other words, champions that ride things. So how about we make a champion that rides a dragon or wyvern of some sort. The design would be a human female with short hair, wearing some sort of horned accessory, clad in dark armor and a burnt cloak/cape, also wielding an obsidian sword. The dragon mount would be a black dragon wearing onyx armor with eyes that are literally on fire. Time for the moveset... or Flyset... or Firese- however the frick dragons work.

Role: Fighter/Tank Damage: AD Lane: Jungle

Passive: Searing Steel - Hraeslyn's auto attacks make a cone range and have a fixed attack speed (like jhin) Hraeslyn can leap forward a short distance while auto attacking. Every enemy hit by Hraeslyn's auto attacks will be set aflame by her sword, taking damage over time based off champion's level. Each auto landed inflicts a stack of Searing Steel on the opponent, at 5 stacks, the damage over time deals true damage.

Q: Wyvernian Charge / Dragoon Saw - Passive - This ability is always the starting ability you have to choose, similar to Azir. Hraeslyn has an ancient onyx wyvern alongside her, mounting the dragon grants extra movement speed, higher than her current movement speed. Dismounted doesn't grant any extra movement speed, but grants more attack speed to the champion passive.

Active -

Initial cast: Hraeslyn backflips off her dragon while the dragon launches itself forward into battle, knocking back opponents a fixed short distance that it flies into. This cast dismounts Hraeslyn. Until recasted, Hraeslyn's dragon fights in her stead, attacking enemies with melee abilities and fire aoe's, it's health scaling with Hraeslyn's max health. It also has lifesteal against monsters. If Hraeslyn's dragon dies, it will retreat, however, it will return in 60 seconds, unless if Hraeslyn recalls.

Recast: Hraeslyn dashes towards her dragon, while doing so she will do something similar to a "spin-dash" with her blade, damaging opponents on her way to her dragon. Once she reaches her dragon, she is mounted yet again.

W: Calamitous Counter - Hraeslyn negates the ability to move while casting this ability for 2 seconds. If a target ability hits Hraeslyn while using this, she takes 10% of the damage from the attack, and deals 90% of the attack directly to the attacker. If a skillshot ability hits Hraeslyn while using this, she deflects the attack back at the directly where it came from.

E: Bladed Bonfire - Mounted: Hraeslyn's dragon sends a blast of flames at a target location, exploding on all enemies in the area, or it can explode on the fire enemy hit, setting the ground ablaze, dealing damage over time to opponents within the area by a small amount. Enemies hit by the explosion are knocked back if they are minions or small monsters, but stunned if they are champions or epic monsters. Enemies knocked back cannot be knocked back through walls.

Dismounted: Hraeslyn has up to two casts each cooldown, each cast makes her step forward making her swing her sword in the target direction, leaving a crescent shaped burned area. Enemies hit by any of the two slashes are silenced briefly and slowed.

Ultimate: Ragnarok -

Mounted: (Outer Hitbox) Hraeslyn's dragon channels for one second and flies forward, with Hraeslyn swinging her blade at all enemies in the range, dealing massive physical damage. (Inner hitbox) While Hraeslyn's dragon is flying forward, it breathes flames across the area it flies over, dealing ap damage to opponents scaling with ad and sets the ground ablaze, also knocking up opponents in the area.

Dismounted: Hraeslyn spins with her sword, gaining massive movement speed while damaging all opponents she hits with her blade while rapidly spinning, creating a fire tornado. Any area she passes over while doing so will set the ground ablaze.

Interactions: Aatrox : I don't care what you are, I can still strike you down... Annie : Only I can't prevent wildfires. AurelionSol : Your not a dragon, your just an embodiment that looks like one. Brand : My flames burn brighter than yours. Cassiopeia : A liar, a murderer, just how I like my targets. Corki : Hey! I'M the one who rides into battle here. Darius : Your so dull and blunt, a clear cut is better than a crushing blow. Ezreal : Don't notice your flare kid, hate to break it to ya. Fiora : Let the duel Commence! Gangplank : You conquer the seas, I conquer the skies, don't step on my turf. Garen : Carrying the pride of your kingdom is a good honor, keep it up. Jhin : No wonder you failed math... Kassadin : How much can that blade sear through? Katarina : Katarina, our father will be avenged, I assure it. Kayn : I regret a lot thinking that your holding really a demon's body everywhere you go. Kled : I'm not even on your turf! I'm above it! Leblanc : You are just asking for a burning scar. Ornn : I knew I would find my sword's maker somewhere... Shyvana : May the flaming war of dragons begin! Sion : You can't be war if you cheat... like seriously HOW do you even die? Swain : Your the reason my family has died, don't fool me. Swain : Because of you, the only friend I have is Katarina. Urgot : You were the old executioner? My, are you an eyesore.

i really like this concept because of dragon but i just despise the passive. the stacking passives get so repetitive and boring.

I take it this is a noxian champ based on interactions, it's just the name doesn't feel Noxian. It feels more freljordian than Noxian, although that's just my opinion. Otherwise, it's cool! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I love everything except the passive. It just seems like a combination of a bunch of other passives: Kalista's, Brand's, Kaisa's. I would prefer something more unique, and I think we have enough stacking passives anyway, although I like the built-in tiamat. Maybe this might work? It might make her a more recognizable jungle:

Passive: Searing Steel

Attacking champions, non-epic monsters, and large minions deals a percentage of maximum health in a cone behind the target. For every enemy the cone hits, Hraeslyn heals a percentage of her max health. This passive stacks with item 3077, item 3074 and item 3748.

Might want to reconsider a name change on the ult because that name already belongs to Olaf's ult

So, in general I do like the idea of "mid-combat unlocks" like this, but I dislike the fact that this implementation breaks two rules. Not only does it make every attack a dash (which is very powerful), but it also has a limited attack speed for no real reason that I can see. My suspicion is that you put this in to control when the true damage breakpoint occurs, but you could easily account for higher attack speed by simply raising the number of stacks required or -- and this is my preference -- by making each hit reset the duration and having the true damage effect occur when the target has been on fire for X seconds, rather than having a stacking mechanic on-hit. I think that gets you the same output without needing the arbitrary attack-speed limiter.

I would recommend taking away the dash though, or putting a cooldown on it and making it the champion's engage mechanic (every 5 seconds when out of combat makes your next attack into a dash, or something). I think that's much more balance-able.

There's a super important things to consider here -- what happens to her when she's not the active character? Does she just sit there? Also, how far is her maximum dash to the dragon?

I would really expand this, as it seems like the dragon is actually a separate character, and this ability makes it seem like a minor side feature. If the dragon replaces the champion for any amount of time it needs abilities, because it effectively is the champion until you choose to recast your W. Otherwise you're basically turning into a glorified minion for a short duration, and that isn't super fun.

I'm always super wary of abilities like this. Damage reflection, in general, is a super frustrating mechanic, and there's a reason that all counters in League currently have their own damage -- it's already super penalizing to lose an ultimate or a crit to an effect, and getting 90% of that damage spike thrown back at you is rage inducing.

I'd adjust this to do a set damage value right off the bat. You should also specify if, like other counter effects, this lasts the full two seconds or if it hits one ability and then stops. Given the power of skillshot deflection and a 90% damage reduction, it probably shouldn't last the full two seconds.

It's also a weird effect for a dragon-rider who seems to be all about dashing around and applying stacks. I'd consider if it's a good fit for your thematic, as I suspect you can come up with a more interesting ability here.

The dismounted E is pretty cool, although the silence seems like overkill (and nonsensical, since a burning sword shouldn't be silencing things thematically). The mounted E seems fine as a small AoE stun that creates a burning zone.

I'm really not a fan of the dual passives. While I understand what you're going for, it creates frustrating situations where you want to use one ability but can't, because you are in the wrong mode, so you have to use your Q first and thus lose the opportunity or -- worse -- panic cast the wrong ability.

The two-part ultimate hitbox on the mounted form is interesting though, as is the super fast AoE burning effect. Of the two I like the second one better, and think it would work better as an ultimate in either form (either her burning swords or dragon flame), so I'd suggest removing the former effect in favor of the latter effect in both forms.
