Razzak - The Great Desert Dragon

Overview:

Razzak is an ancient Shuriman dragon who’s attachment to treasure is only topped by his ego. He was once the king of the desert, until the tribes of Shurima united and bound him with a spell. This spell, thanks to Razzak‘s mentor, only prevents him from stealing treasure and occasionally gives him visions. Very few have ever gone even with him let alone bested him. The few that have either earn his respect, or become a bitter rival to him.

In game, Razzak is a mage that focuses on harassing opponents from the safety of the sky. He is nearly impervious to ranged damage, thanks to his passive, but is vulnerable while in melee range and/or while out of flight. Although he has no burst, his combination of mixed damage and strong disengage allows him to soften entire teams over time.

Razzak can be played as a mid laner or jungler. In mid lane, the low cooldown of his Q lets him easily cs vs. ranged champions and poke down melee champions. As a jungler, the combination of his AoE, CC, and decent base AD and attack speed make his clears relatively easy, while Dragon’s Flight gives him a lot more roaming and ganking potential than most junglers.

Lore:

“Legend says that a dragon’s treasure is his most precious belonging. But for me, treasures are more than a belonging… they are the reason for my existence.”

Razzak’s flame began to grow, as he awoke from his century long sleep. He glanced at his pile of treasures. “Hm…” Everything was as he had left it. “Then why am I awake” he thought. The only other thing that could awake him was a new treasure. A treasure that had not been forbidden by the ancient Shuriman spell that binded him. “Cursed Shurimans!” The memory of the spell pricked him once more. “They dared to forbid me from plundering back my precious treasure!” However, the thought of treasure to seek immediately drove the memory out of his mind. Imbuned with Shuriman magic, it began to show him visions of a Wolf, challenging all who dare to attempt to find a treasure. ”Yes, this is what must have awakened me!” he thought. Next a riddle came to his mind:

I am always watched But never can be seen by you Hidden in plain sight But never in plain view I...heheh...am priceless

What am I?

Find me in your home Find me in your liquid Find me on your eyes Find me everywhere you go.

Where am I?

“Interesting…” thought the great dragon. “Clearly, the treasure must be hidden in the Wolf’s home! For it must be always watched by him and it must be in plain sight of him! Who cares about the rest of his riddle, I already know where it is!” And with a roar, Razzak stretched out his wings and raced towards the poor Wolf’s house.

As he flew, the visions continued, showing a cave deep in a mountain, filled with traps. “I see, so this wolf is crafty“ Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by a fiery spitball of lava slamming into the newly regenerated scales on his back. The impact sent Razzak hurtling into the sands below. Only one creature would dare attack him head on. “I see your aim has improved Saraphan” Razzak growled, “But I see that you have not learned from our last encounter.” “Ha! Do not mock me Razzak.” spoke the pyroserphant as he slithered into view “We both know it was a lucky shot. This time, my fangs will be your end… Raaa!” Saraphan suddenly lunged at Razzak, fangs extended. “Pitiful!” roared Razzak as he blocked Saraphan’s attack. Saraphan continued the onslaught by quickly slithering around Razzak and creating a ring of fire around him. “Prepare to burn lizard!” yelled Saraphan as he dodged a fireball, wrapped himself around Razzak, and began to release molten rock from in between his scales. “Looks like the great dragon has lost, ha ha.” taunted Saraphan. “You are a fool.” retorted Razzak. “What!” answered Saraphan. “You assume victory far too early” said Razzak. Before the pyroserphant could respond again, Razzak unleashed a massive roar, sending Saraphan flying off of him. “Now you will pay for your arrogance!” shouted Razzak. With perfect timing, Razzak unleashed a fireball, catching Saraphan in mid air. “Sthhhaaa!” cried Saraphan as the fireball exploded, sending him flying “Impossible! How did you survive?!” Razzak only answered him by covering the pyroserphant with molten sand. As the sand solidified, encasing Saraphan in glass, Razzak collapsed from his wounds. “Ha. I won...” whispered Razzak as he fell unconscious.

When Razzak awoke, he found what looked like a piece of a scroll, but shaped like a perfect square and almost perfectly white. The writing on it was written on a language foreign to Razzak, but it had a package attached to it of the same material. ”What is this?” wondered Razzak as he found a transparent, golden gem inside the package. The great dragon was further confused by the sight of a massive spirit inside, continuously ramming itself into the side of the crystal. “Hm, I must find out what this is.” Razzak focused his mind, attempting to summon a vision about it. But, instead of that, his mind went back to the underground base from before his fight with Saraphan. ”Interesting. There seems to have been more to this vision”. Closer inspection revealed that the base was a decoy. ”Ha! The wolf is even more clever than I thought.” he concluded. “Hm, I still need to find out what this is. And I know just where to look.” Razzak thought as he flew towards Demacia.

Two days later, Razzak found himself at the edge of Demacia, being pursued by Demacian border gaurds. “Fools, don't they know who I am!” One of the Demacian gaurds, a mage, fired a blast of magic at the dragon. The blast was completely absorbed by his scales. “Is that it! I'll show you power“, roared Razzak as he unleashed a massive fireball at the Demacians. The mage tried to deflect the blast, but was sent flying by the resulting explosion along with the rest of his pursuers. “Ha! That was too easy.” The chase, however, had put Razzak off course, and, when he turned back towards his destination, he saw a wolf standing upright in front of him. “Ah, Razzak“, the wolf said,”: it would be great if you joined us. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself, how rude of me. I am Kamiroo Wolf.”

The inside of the banquet hall was even more amazing than the outside. Covered in intricate designs and painted with gold leaf, the walls of the room shone like the sun disk itself. At the center of the room was a long lable covered in a white tablecloth and decorated with a line of 5 lit, golden candles. The people sitting at the table ranged from a “normal” human to a goblin and a monster disguised as gentleman and his cane. Razzak would have simply forced the wolf to tell him where the treasure was, but the wolf's calm demeanor and tone advised against it. “Perhaps I will play his game. It will be fun to see what a mortal can do.” “Now, if only people made dragon sized chairs” Razzak complained as he sat in a corner of the room. However, Razzak immediately took back his words when he saw the food that was being brought to him. “At least people know how to cook for a superior. This is the best food I’ve ever tasted since I borrowed from the emperor’s dinner, ha!”

As the meal came to an end, the small wolves that had brought out the food returned to take the empty plates. “I would like to have your attention contestants,” announced Kamiroo, “before you leave, take this clue. A bear hungers in the east and a wolf frolicks to the north. An abandoned order rests between the beasts. Do not, however, let the snake mislead you. Good luck.” And in an instant the wolf disappeared in a puff of smoke. “Intriguing.” though Razzak “I will have to be quick.” Razzak then smashed through the doors and soared off into the distance.

In only an hour, Razzak was standing before a large, crumbling tower. The sandstone tower was covered in mysterious runes, and stood on a foundation of magical sand. The Demacian archeologists that were examining the tower had all ran at the sight of the dragon. “A wise choice,” Razzak agreed. As Razzak touched the runes, the tower suddenly began to glow and a magical barrier surrounded him and the tower. “WHO HAS AWAKENED ME,” a voice echoed, “Razzak has awakened you,” Razzak answered. “RAZZAK?” the voice answered. “I need your help. A wolf gave me this gem, and I need to know what it is.” “Ahh, Razzak.” the voice began to die down, “So, you've been given a spirit gem.  And does it actually contain one?” Razzak held out the gem, “It does, yes,” the voice continued, “And I believe it's trying to break free! If we were to free it, it might help us. However, it will-"“ “Then let us release it!” Razzak growled, “there is no time for smalltalk!” “RAZZAK!” the voice once again boomed, “do you not remember what I taught you? You must have patience. To release the spirit, you must take it to its master crystal. Once it's near enough, I can use my power to free the spirit. To find the crystal, go in the direction that the spirit is ramming the gem. It can sense the crystal‘s location.” The barrier then disintegrated and the tower returned to its silent state.

“Now to figure out the Wolf’s riddle,” Razzak pondered, it says that a wolf frolicks to the north. Ha! The wolf is Kamiroo! And I have to avoid a snake. That must be the river! That means he will be somewhere to the north-west of Runeterra; the same way that the spirit is pointing. Haha, the wolf has given me his location! Soon the greatest riches of Runeterra will be mine!”

Kit:

  • Passive: Scales of Stone

  • Razzak’s scales protect him, making him immune to basic attacks from over 400 units away, but shatter when hit by basic attacks less than 400 units away, disabling Scales of Stone for 10 seconds. Additionally, while his passive is enabled, he takes 30% less magic damage from spells. However, his passive will also be disabled for 10 seconds, if a spell would have done more than 30% of his HP.

  • Q: Promethean Fire

  • Razzak launches a fireball at a target area after a 1 second delay the detonates on reaching the area, dealing 40/45/50/55/60 (+40% AP) physical damage and 40/45/50/55/60 (+40% AP) magic damage to all enemies hit. (the magic damage applies first)

  • Cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 seconds Range: 700 units AoE Diameter: 300 units

  • Dragon’s Flight: Promethean Fire’s delay increases by 1 second, and the targeted area will follow him as he moves. Additionally, enemies hit have their MR shredded by 10%.

  • W: Molten Stream

  • Razzak fires a continuous channeled stream of molten sand at an area for a maximum of 8 seconds, dealing 40/45/50/55/60 (40% AP) true damage each second to enemies in the area and slowing them by 20%-99% each second. (slow increases over 4 seconds). If an enemy is hit by Molten Stream for 4 seconds, they become snared and silenced and can only break free by attacking the snare. The channel can be interrupted by CC and moving.

  • Cooldown: 14/12/10/8/6 seconds Range: 550 units AoE Diameter 200 units Snare HP: 4 hits

  • Dragon’s Flight Razzak can move as he channels and the channel cannot be interrupted by CC. If Razzak moves away from the target area, he will fire at the closest area to the original area. Recasting Molten Stream cancels the channel.

  • E: Desert Breath

  • Razzak roars, dealing 50/60/70/80/90 (+60% AP) magic damage to all enemies in a cone, knocking them 500 units back, and slowing them by 30% for 2 seconds. Additionally, projectiles caught in the blast are destroyed.

  • Cooldown: 5 seconds Min. Cone Width: 100 units Max Cone Width: 800 units Cone Length: 300 units

  • Dragon’s Flight: Desert Breath affects all nearby enemies and projectiles. (300 unit radius)

  • R: Dragon’s Flight

  • After a 2 second delay, Razzak begins flying, gaining 30%/30%/40%/50% movement speed, 0%/0%/5%/10% AP, the ability to ignore terrain and unit collision, and bonuses for his abilities, but losing the ability to basic attack. Razzak will remain flying as long as he is moving and isn’t slowed. Razzak starts with Dragon's Flight at level 1 and the cooldown starts when he stops flying.

  • Static Cooldown: 50 seconds

I think the damage ratios are fine, it's the bases that need tweaking. Though True Damage generally is very strong. Also, friendly tip-

"When the raw movement speed is less than 220 another soft cap is used:

If the raw speed is below 220, it gets multiplied by 50% and added to 110. Example: if the calculated raw speed is 180 before soft caps kick in, it is increased to 180 × 0.5 + 110 = 200."

Your W will 'never' proc, because champion movespeed has a hard cap at 110 and 'cannot' go lower. You should probably reword it to 'if W hits a set amount of times in a set time period'.

Most of your damage numbers are extremely low. Bump those up and it'll look quite good.

Cocks shotgun

That there Dragon best stay off may lawn! Hehe, jokes aside, though, I like the ambitious and quick-to-act attitude Razzak gives off in his lore.

Oh and btw...I don't think even Razzak is prepared for what lies in Wolf's house...

Well, after you have almost killed Oh The JINX's champion, Cyrus, I will have to be careful. Fortunately, I've known who you're opponent was going to be for a long time. Remember, you don't have to win the fight to beat the challenge, but you do have to survive.

Please stand by. An agent will be dispatched to your location shortly.

“Hmph. I sense a presence...an arrogant one." Saraphan mutters as he finishes swallowing a Xer'Sai creature whole. Before long, an earth-shattering roar shakes his world, and the PyroSerphant finds himself gawking at what is before him. Not too high in the sky, a golden dragon flies over Saraphan gracefully as if in pursuit of something! In a flicker of recognition, Saraphan's eyes widen at the sight of the long forgotten Razzak! Once stricken with awe, the snake's eyes now flare with anger at the sight of his old rival!

“YOU OVERGROWN LIZARD! WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO FLY ONCE MORE IN MY DESERT!" Saraphan hisses loudly slithers up onto the nearest sand dune after the Dragon. With deadly percission, Saraphan coughs up and launches a massive spitball of molten lava into the air. Before long the massive golden Dragon is hit and comes hurdling towards the ground. A massive sandstorm whips up as a result of the great beast crashing into the dunes beneath it.

“Now...we settle this."

Your opponent for the April MCCC Secret Lore Challenge is Saraphan, The PyroSerphant

Wolf Just sits back and stares at the monitor. In his hand he twiddles what appears to be a scratched bone.

“Saraphan is most likely going to pay for doing so horribly...at least the Dragon was wounded so I'll go easy on one of my more original agents." Wolf sighs to himself as a steel automaton with a red number 6 on its otherwise blank slate of a face walks around behind him.

“Six...do send Razzak his reward but please, no fighting. We don't want this one dying just yet." Wolf's words are calm and collected, and he is clearly unaffected by Saraphan's defeat. The bone in his hand, however, snaps as Six exits the room.

Dear Razzak,

Although I'm not even positive you can read I have decided to send you this message anyway. Congratulations on defeating Saraphan but let me just tell you right now that you are going the wrong way if you are trying to reach me. It's quite odd but I actually cannot wait to see if you can actually discover my true location. Anyhow, here is your reward for a job well done

Enclosed within an attached envelope is a transparent golden gem. The gem appears to cracked, unfortunately, but upon further inspection your champion realizes that there is a rather big spirit trapped within the stone. It does nothing but ram it's body up against the edges of the stone and it seems it has no intention of stopping.

Good luck finding me my dear Dragon! Oh and one last thing: Cyrus has taken a bit of your treasure.

Sincerely Yours,

Your Host

Be careful, kind sir.

"I think its time to meet our other competitors, don't you agree?" The goblin whispered the the hulking creature beneath him. The beast was obviously confused, its simple mind unable to comprehend the larger game at play. "The pieces are falling into place, Loi. The game is afoot. It's about time we changed the rules."

A whisper echoed from every shadow across Valoran, Gershom's voice chiding into every ear, turning every head. "The Wolf has played us for fools for too long. It's about time we turn the tables. Those who have proven themselves thus far...meet me under The Mountain.

"That should make things interesting." Gershom said, obviously satisfied with his work. "Now come, Loi. We must make sure we have the advantage."

Glad to see Razzak enjoyed the banquet!

...and who said I was a mortal?

Scorpoison4/4/2015, 3:01:52 AM1 votes

I have 4 questions / comments

  1. doesn't molten sand cool into glass? I feel like that would be an interesting effect to add to Razzak's W
  2. for the enhanced E, does he lose the cone 500 unit roar as well?
  3. for the ult does this include flying over walls and such (I think so but I want to double check) and does the cooldown start when he starts flying, or when he finishes? Does it have a ramp up or do you just click and go?
  4. is he melee or ranged? It looks really interesting!
50000000000000004/28/2015, 2:36:36 AM1 votes

I see your E does projectile destruction like Wind Wall and Unbreakable. What do you think justifies having such a low cooldown on such a powerful ability? Also, your ultimate makes it sound like it's possible to stay flying and just not basic attack, because the spells become more powerful and without any cost (Razzak is manaless, right?) aside from the cooldown.

4 Hits for snare also seems like a pretty big number. Late game ADCs can sometimes get up to 2 attack speed, and if they attack the snare for the duration, it's still 2 seconds of snare. Not to mention AP champions generally have about 1 or less than 1 attack speed, so that would be more than 4 seconds of snare.

Can't wait to see more detail thrown into this concept! Be sure to have it all up before the 15th or it will be disqualified!
