Components/Cost: item 3101 + item 2015 +750g (total 2650)

  • 50% Attack Speed

UNIQUE Passive: +20%CDR UNIQUE Passive: Dusk Slash - Basic attacks and movement energize this item. At 100 energy, your next basic attack consumes all energy, ignores shields and does (20%AD)(20%AP) bonus damage. UNIQUE Passive: Blackout - (see item 3147 )

I will first say that this item is intended to replace the Duskblade, not coexist with it. Should Riot want to keep blackout, but remove Duskblade from the game, this is my idea for keeping the blackout passive, while getting rid of the nuke potential of Duskblade and giving it more sustained fight potential with that quick initial "shieldbreaker" (or shield-avoider) mechanic to provide just enough damage that can't be mitigated by a blockade.

Its also important to know that even though this is a pure AS item, this does work with empowered attacks...so for example, a Diana who ran this and hit with her 3rd autoattack would cause her passive proc (since it's technically on an autoattack) to ignore the shields of the initial target for some surprising damage. However, this item on its own is just that: a simple attack speed steroid that otherwise gives no other stats. It brings some pleasant utility to the table in blackout and shield-avoidance, but is still an "all eggs in one basket" item. By comparison: Nashor's gives this same 50% AS boost, but also gives AP and a smaller damage boost on every hit instead of one hit every 30s.

What made you want to replace Duskblade?

Even with its passives, 50% is not that much considering its price (AS jungle items are 2645, and grant arguably more offensive stats). If the item is around 2700, it would be worth it to get it for early game.

About replacing an item: Despite how much I love and hate duskblade, it is one of the most important items in the game. Virtually __all __AD assassins use this as their core item, and it has interesting synergy with a lot of existing kits.

The other problem is its users. Who will use this(or more accurately, in what match up would someone buy this)? For ap on-hit users (like you mentioned, diana) will benefit far more from nashors. For ad on-hit users that are melee, it is quite unlikely for them to buy an item that only gives AS (they usually save a slot or two for hp/ar/mr items). For ad/ap/or hybrid marksmen/women, they don't want extra damage every 30 seconds, but rather consistant damage, which AS doesn't provide directly. Apc will go for nashors just like you mentioned, but even if they want to pierce through shields item 3036 is just so much stronger.

Can you please explain how you came up with this item? Because its build path alone is interesting (btw most items don't have the combination cost of 1k)
