A Chance For All the Concepts (Revised)

I think some of the champions on this forum are really cool and well designed, better even than some of Riot's recent releases (Xayah and Rakan were lackluster). They deserve a chance to someday be created in the game, but all of them really have no hope as of right now. These players put all this thought and work into creating a champion, and they are so proud of what they have created once their finished. Then, they send that thing that means so much to them here, to there forums, where it effectively dies. People see it for a week or two, but new posts push them down to be lost, ignored, and forgotten. Even if you were lucky and your idea was seen by a Riot designer, the best they can do is tear off a limb and use it in another champion, ruining the original and taking its uniqueness. I hate seeing all these great concepts die like this, so I came up an idea so they all at least have a chance. To note, I have been told multiple times that 'Riot cannot legally use any champion directly off this forum.' I find that odd, because people put concepts here because they want Riot to use it; but, so be it.

To avert said legality issues, I propose that Riot open a submission box, lasting maybe a month, where people can put their concepts. A dev team would sort through these concepts and choose the best 25 or so. The creators of the top 25 would be notified and have the chance to balance, complete and finalize their champion with the help of a dev team member. Once they have been finished, Riot would hold a vote for the playerbase to decide which champion is the best, and that one is implemented into the game. The winner's creator would be told, but nobody else would know who won until the a teaser video of the winning concept is released, just before their PBE debut. The winner's creator could get a special player icon of their champion to put on their account that nobody else would have and get the champion on release for free, and maybe also PBE access for their champion. Nothing would be taken off the forums, so that would cause no issues. Riot could use the small text to fill in the cracks and hold the right to be the final interpreters of the contest and its rules. They could, during the implementation period, make required balance repairs so long as they do not change the core idea of the champion. Perhaps they could work with the creator as needed.

Riot, if you see this, I hope you consider it. These champions fail not because of problems with their selves, but the position of their creator. They really do deserve a shot at being in the game, and this is an effective and fair way of doing it.

I think this could work, but remember that most of creators use art they find from the internet, and Riot wants to use original art in their games. So Riot can implement the character's kit and lore and stats etc, but probably not their art.

You should also work on dividing the text. Having a wall of text in one pile makes it boring to read.

Would love to have something like this, but sadly, I don't think it will ever be. That said...I do not agree with you on one point...concepts don't die out here on the forums...Us concept creators do indeed work hard on our concepts and in doing so, give them a special place in our hearts. I often look back over my concepts, reading lore, quotes, kits, etc. just for the sake of seeing them :) I'm sure there are people that scroll down the boards to read concepts, heck, I've had concepts of mine resurface 3 months later because someone found them from way back :) Plus, there is the CCOS, which brings concepts to the attention of the masses. All in all I truly think that you have a great idea, really, but many concept creators, like myself, have made peace with the fact that our concepts might never make actual game. We make them for ourselves, as a hobby, to vent our creative mind and to show riot that we love their game ^^

I agree in plentiful areas- a bit of balancing would be one submission per month, make it annually to biennial so it gives design time and it's more special. Probably won't happen, still, but if they ever get a good following on /all chat, or straight up do this weekly/monthly on facebook, they could give a creator spotlight. Another addition, for my own sanity to throw out, is biennial, with the betweens being the "skin concept year" (I think PAX Jax was initially player-created anyways- fact check me if I'm wrong) and it'd be better for those that don't do champs. But what do I know? Someone somehow get this noticed by Riot.

They already did this.

Back when the refer a friend system could give you rewards, the people with the highest referrals had a chance to enter in to win a champion of their design to be made into a champion. Totalbiscuit won and donated his chance at creating the concept for the champion to the Make A Wish foundation and a dying kid made a champion concept and gave it to Riot to make into a champion.... Riot hasn't done nothing with it yet, the kid is still dying, and all Totalbiscuit got out of it was them changing the name of the hybrid potion to the biscuit of rejuvenation.
