Besides Pulse Fire he has no skins which change his particles drastically, and even Pulse Fires particles are pretty underwhelming

Hey King Odarth!

I wanted to pop in and explain a little bit about the though process behind selecting Ezreal as the Ace of Spades.

When discussing a new set of 750 RP skins, we came up with the idea of playing card skins. It seemed like a pretty cool idea since we already had Jack of Hearts Twisted Fate!

We were looking to round out the roles of champions in this skin line, and we were looking to add an ADC to the mix. We needed someone to fit the Ace of Spades (we considered Mordekaiser for this, but ultimately decided 'clubs' shape language was much stronger for his weapon.) There's an idiom - cocky as the king of spades - which implies someone is cocky or boastful, and we felt that fit Ezreal's personality pretty well.

Why not other ADCs? We felt that other ADCs were better suited (no pun intended here) for other thematics.

I feel like this skin is too similar to his Debonair skin. Regardless of my feelings towards Debonair (don't like the skins on anyone except Jayce and Galio), it feels too similar. Plus i agree with everyone, he needs some cool particle effects, and Pulsefire, while different, isn't up to snuff. And if you needed an ADC to fit the whole "cocky as the king of spades" moniker, why was Draven not considered? Seriously, Draven is fabulous, and you should be ashamed for not considering Draven the greatest there is.

"1700's Debonair Ezreal" is a more fitting title for this skin than "Ace of Spades". Spades are such an underwhelming part of the skin that it's not even really noticeable :/

So why did you feel it appropriate to settle on yet another 'low-grade scope' for Ezreal when he has only ONE skin which has updated particles?

You guys really must reverse this process... price first, then specs.

E.g. "this concept should have updated particles since Ezreal has none anywhere other than PFE & because it's a great decision, thematically."

"This skin should be 975-1350 because Ezreal has a vast array of low-tier skins & only one super-grade skin."

You guys are doing most everything all wrong lately.

Quinn 's Phoenix Skin already looks more like a Hearts Skin than a Phoenix one too.

Funnily enough, hat was one of her biggest critiques in PBE & it went ignored. As usual.

I think this is a bit more subjective than anything else. Sure, would other champions fit this personality type? Sure! Are there better thematics for the champions you listed? Entirely possible! There may or may not be skins in development for champions you've listed. (I know, I know, you don't like hearing this, but it's the truth! D:)

Can I ask why Riot doesn't reserve the 750 tier for "one-off" skins?

nobody seems to be happy about Riot skimping on the particles for this skin line, particularly when it's such "low-hanging fruit" to have Card-themed particles.

It just seems like a major waste.

Make 750 skins things that are novel, but not terribly strong thematically. Make the 750 skins concepts that players have a "heh, that's pretty cool" response to. Don't waste skin "lines" on the 750 tier, reserve the 750 tier for stuff that doesn't have a powerful, interesting concept behind them that can expand to more than one champion.

Don't force skins that make the whole community say "whoah that's awesome!!" like the Marauder/Warden/Card skin lines into being 750 "just cuz". People want particles and express an interest in paying for particles. Please listen.

I completely agree with you. I feel like riot misses out on huge opportunities to make high quality skins by using 750 pricing for such cool themes. The 750 tier really needs to be reserved for skins that don't have to the possibility to span out into an entire skin line. They need to be reserved for the one hit wonder skins. This entire line of playing card skins has the potential to be one of the cooler skin themes riot could release but instead they are skimping out on the chance to make they skins something great.

Yet this still does not answer why he can't have any new particle effects. You all refused to give the new Syndra new effects because she "needs" a lower tier skin. Yet Ez has an army of lower tier skins and one top tier, why not give him a mid tier with new particles? How hard could it possibly be to change the color on his spells?

I understand that and thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, but what I was truly asking is why is it that Ezreal has no different effects apart from his basic particles? Explorer, Nottingham, Striker, Frosted, TPA, Debonair all have his basic partiticles. You shouldn't need to dish out 30$ for his Ultimate skin just to get changed particles.

I know all skins mentioned are 520/750 RP which brings about another point, why is it that Ezreal has never gotten a higher quality skin with changed particles that isn't his Legendary Skin? His particles are rather basic so even just recolouring would add a whole new dimension to Ezreal.

I'm really curious - what made Ezreal the choice for this thematic? Heck, honestly, what even is this thematic? I'm just ultimately really not sold at all on what this is supposed to be, but I look at the model and certainly don't think "that's Ezreal" when I see it.

Or, you can give the skin to someone with a spade/ someone who could use another skin/ someone who doesn't already have 7 skins/someone who only has 2 skins; their release skin and a 5 champ theme skin.

As soon as I saw Ace of Spades I thought it was going to Yorick. And then I saw Ezreal. And then I saw 750. Yet another chance to give Ezreal amazing effects passed up.

So I guess my question, besides the obviously stated, "we wanted an adc" is why was Yorick passed up?

So...Whose the support of this mix? Don't get me wrong i love Syndra, and i love Queen of Diamonds Syndra, but could we have gotten a "proper" support in the mix? Its been said before but a Queen of Diamonds Taric, or a Diamonds Taric in general would have been really cool.

My only beef with the ez skin is that at a passing glance you can't even tell it is ezreal. If you want a fancy dressed ez, just get debonair anyway.

I really feel like the playing card theme has a ton of potential. I think using it for 750 skins is really missing an opportunity to make top quality skins that summoners want. There is so much opportunity to play with they particles and abilities to make them card or suite themed. I think a 750 recolor just seems a little lackluster.

Of all the champions, he is one of the easiest to make particle recolors for too... I feel pretty disappointed in this skin :/ At least make the particles black or something.

I actually like this Ez skin (maybe because I'm almost done watching all four seasons of Tudors). I just really don't buy skins without particle changes anymore. I'd have bought Debonair Ez with white particles,or pink/blue. I'd definitely buy Spades Ez with black/dark blue particles.

I also call bull on the 'rounding out the roles' for this skinline. TF is a midlaner, so why give another midlaner this skin thematic? I don't really care who you gave the skins to, but that reasoning makes little sense.

I definitely feel like riot is more concerned with quantity over quality. I'd rather have, say 4 skins with new particles etc in a time frame rather than 7 recolors that don't change the feel of a character and leave me wanting more. Le sigh :(

It stinks since Ezreal is now going to have 7 "720 tier" style skins that all only change his costume and do nothing with his particles and the only other option is the thirty dollar Ultimate skin that doesn't seem worth the price anymore when compared to the other two Ultimates that've been released since.

This especially stinks since he's gotten two skins practically back to back so we wont be seeing any more for the Explorer for some time.

Nah, they just need to give Ezreal a full VU and that would help clean up a lot of basic skin problems. I say that because no matter what skin he's got on his Model is just ugly. This newest one is somewhat better but still not the best they could do with him.

i agree with King Odarth about the Ezrael skins. i have seven of them now, i think, from my mystery box addiction, and they are mostly pretty lame. pulsefire is the only one i really use, because it's the only one that's interesting. new particles for some of them would go a long way to fixing the persistent bleh that is Ez's wardrobe.

Ez has a lot of skins in general, all of which are pretty decent however I believe he now has the highest skin count. Riot skin designers should probably put Ez on the back burner for a while in the skin department. Other champs could use some of that skin love right ...

However his new skin is nice an well designed.
