Yumi - The Soul of Midnight

Lore: It was known throughout Ionia that the Old Ninja Order had been destroyed; ravaged by the ninjas who now serve and train under the Order of the Shadows. Their intent was known: Master your technique, strengthen yourself, and kill any ninja who does not embrace the teachings of the Order. It was this that brought Yumi to the Order of the Shadows. After losing her parents to the slaughter between the two orders, she was taken in by the Order of the Shadows and trained in the ancient art of Kyujutsu. Her skill with both the hankyu and daikyu was renowned throughout the order, and even by those throughout Ionia who had seen her prowess at work. She put her heart and soul into her training, and this hard work earned her a place within the Order of the Shadows.

Yumi had been tasked with finding the ninjas of the Old Ninja Order and putting an end to them. It was their mission: to end the lives of all ninjas who did not embrace the way of the shadows. She spent many hours searching for their place of hiding, and in the end went out alone to search whenever she was free to do so. It was on one of these nights that she found them all hiding away in the base of a waterfall. Moving in to take a closer look, she believed she could catch them unawares and bring their heads back to Master Zed. It was she who was caught unawares though, as she found herself surrounded by the same enemies she had been searching for. She readied her bow, ready to fight to her last, and was about to raise it when the leader of the Old Ninja Order, Shen, appeared. He told her that it was not the way to murder one who did not know better. He gave her the offer: never reveal the location of the old order, and he would let her go free. Yumi did not believe he would keep his word, but she began to walk away without saying a word. She kept walking, finding non-one to stand in her way and no sword in her back.

When Yumi recovered from the ordeal, she returned to the Order of the Shadows in search of Zed to report her findings. Master Zed listened to her story in silence. Yumi did not see Zed move at all, nor see the shuriken that sliced her face. Kneeling on the floor trying to cover her face, Yumi saw the shadow of Zed appear above her. He said then something that stuck with her forever; "We do not surrender to the old ways, nor the ones who follow it. Learn and learn well, as death is nothing compared to dishonor." Yumi never forgot that day, the scar that marred her face serving as a reminder as to the lesson she learnt. Seeking to right the mistake she made the first time, she returned to the waterfall to murder the order that let her live, only to find it empty and abandoned.

Yumi brought on her discipline to still her rage into an icy calm, one that she used in her lethal intent. She requested permission from the Order of the Shadows to track down the enemies of her order and kill them. Sensing the return of her calm killing soul, the one that had served the order so well over the years, Zed granted permission for Yumi to do so. She left right away, spending many nights hunting for the trail of her enemies. The whispers amongst the villagers of Ionia and beyond told her different versions of the same story: that the ninjas of the Old Ninja Order had gone to the League of Legends. She sent her findings back to the Order of the Shadows before setting off to the League of Legends; seeking to bring peace to her soul by finishing the task she had been given.

Abilities: Passive - Lethal Intent Passive Yumi's resource runs off energy. Yumi gains 2 movement speed per level, up to a maximum 36 movement speed at level 18. Yumi's attacks gains bonus damage the further away the target is. This bonus increases up to 10% of Yumi's attack damage at maximum range while using her hankyu, increasing up to 15% while using her daikyu.

Active 1 - Shadow Strafe Active/Skillshot Yumi fires a stream of 5 arrows in a direction, each arrow dealing 10/20/30/40/50 (+0.25 Attack Damage) physical damage upon colliding with the first enemy it hits. These arrows are fired over a 1 second period, and apply all on-hit effects. Yumi moves 20% slower while strafing, and can cancel Shadow Strafe at any time by manually activating the ability again. Energy Cost: 75/70/65/60/55 energy. Cooldown: 9.0/8.5/8.0/7.5/7.0 seconds

Active 2 - Dusk Subjection Toggle/On-Hit Yumi fires armour-piercing arrows with shadow chains that latch on to the enemy. These attacks convert 10/15/20/25/30 of your on-hit damage into true damage. Once the toggle is turned off, manually or through a lack of energy to sustain it, the chained arrows are pulled out of the enemy, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+0.4 Attack Damage) physical damage and slows the target by 20%. This is increased by 4/8/12/16/20 (+0.10 Attack Damage) physical damage and slows by an extra 2.5% for every shadow chain pulled from the enemy. You can only attach a maximum of 6 chains to a single enemy. If the enemy moves beyond 700 range of Yumi, the chains snap to no effect. Energy Cost: 10/10/10/10/10 energy per arrow. Cooldown: 7.2/6.6/6.0/5.4/4.8 seconds after deactivated toggle.

Active 3 - Vorpal Evasion Active/Skillshot Yumi turns into a shadow as she flips up to 400 distance to the target cursor, gaining a burst of adrenaline for 2.5 seconds upon landing. While under the effects of adrenaline, she gains 20/30/40/50/60% attack speed for the duration. Yumi can use Strafe while/before flipping to fire at a certain point as she flips. Energy Cost: 60/60/60/60/60 energy. Cooldown: 12/11/10/9.0/8.0 seconds

Ultimate - Kyujutsu Passive/Toggle Yumi upgrades herself and her skills for every level of Kyujutsu she has: - Shadow Strafe -1st: Fires 7 arrows over 1.4 seconds -2nd: Moves at normal pace while strafing. -3rd: Fires 9 arrows over 1.8 seconds. - Dusk Subjection -1st: Energy cost reduced to 8 per arrow. -2nd: Maximum chains to a single enemy increased to 8. -3rd: Energy cost reduced to 6 per arrow. - Vorpal Evasion -1st: Gain 20 movement speed on-hit for 1.5 seconds while affected by adrenaline. -2nd: Flip range increased to 550. -3rd: The duration increases by 0.5 per hit against an enemy champion, up to a bonus 2.5 seconds. Yumi can toggle between using her hankyu, her short bow, or her daikyu, her long bow. While using her hankyu, Yumi has a bonus 0.200/0.250/0.300 attack speed. While using her daikyu, Yumi loses the attack speed bonus of her hankyu but gains 75/100/125 attack range. Switching back to her hankyu loses the attack range bonus.

Creator's Notes: Yumi was my first attempt at an energy-based champion. I decided this was a challenge to myself when I realised we have energy-based Mages, Tanks, a couple of Assassins, Fighters - but not energy-based Marksmen. It seemed right to follow the culture that most of these champions have in common: they're all Ionian to some degree and all are, or close to, ninjas. Her looks and style represent a Japanese-cultured style and her weapon is the bow the samurai used - the Yumi; also known as the Hankyu and Daikyu. All of her abilities chain together one way or another (such as W, Q, E, W - plus R for extra range) to maximise her skillset.

If you like/dislike anything, or just think something is really missing from this, don't be afraid to comment. Cheers!
