They even made the first step to implement that: the skin tab.
They just have to add a button "pin this skin as profile background". It's so easy to do, please, Riot. [sg-soraka]
This would make us appreciate splash art even more ... imagine, having Snow Fawn Poppy on my background.

Alot of people have suggested this idea in the past. Myself included.
So far, only the Skins tab exists. But i imagine that if we keep re-suggesting this, Riot will take it into consideration. Just like the Skins tab, which was also player-suggested.

I just want to be able to leave Tristana there permanently, not depending on if I haven't played her recently. Happens mostly when I play Featured Modes and it's annoying.
I think they won't do it. If you buy a ultimate skins, Riot provide summoner icons. And, your profile change based on those icons. For this reason, I think Riot will not provide same benefit as ultimate skin.

I remember a ton of threads about this idea when the new client's beta was out. I 100% support more customization when it comes to profiles and I think that would even be a good reward for leveling up instead of champ shards. Can't we get tokens to unlock backgrounds for our profile? That would be something I'd work hard towards.

Please riot add this! I love how the lux has its own if you have the ICON enabled but we should have a little more customization when it comes to our profiles and this would be a good idea to implement!
the only problem with it is that rn it's an ultimate exclusive feature. This would make ultimate skins less worth their price, they already gave every skin the ingame portrait so that already took away from the ultimates bonus features.
I was thinking this since the new client got released, but then I remembered that Riot wants needs $$$ and will probably only keep it for 3250rp skins.

Please add this feature ASAP.
It would be great if we could have some of the lore art from the Universe page available as background art, too. Maybe it could be something you unlock or buy.
As cool and awesome as that is Riot will NEVER put that much effort into their game.
I doubt they will. Right now, the only skins that do this are the ultimate skins. In other words, the profile background is an additional bonus in buying the ultimate skin, so it is something additional that separates ultimate skins from other skins.
Of course, for 200RP :^)
