I'm confused, they all seem to include new particles, new voice overs, new sounds and of course a new model.
Is there like new taunts or something or new icons for the abilities or what makes the YI skin rise over and above the other project skins.

TL;DR the main difference is PROJECT: Yi has entirely new VO lines, as well as two types of voice processing (he has different processing when in Highlander). He also has several new animations.

Courier Eight1 votesUnique voiceover! It's typically the difference between 1350 and 1820 tiers- see Battlecast Kog'Maw vs. Battlecast Alpha Skarner. Both have unique models, animations, sound effects, and textures, but Skarner has a unique VO and is thus 1820 tier.

The rest have voice processing, where they took the old lines that the base skin says and applied a filter to them. For Yi they actually recorded new lines, unique to his Project skin.
Masked Lunatic1 votesThe voice over makes me feel sad for yi... it seems like he was forced into becoming part of PROJECT (signs of manipulation) and lost his memories too. Not to mention he seems to remember a light called hope (no hope for you, yi sad moment).
sparkzbarca1 votesAhh this explains it, I mean I was confused becasue people were saying unique voice over but they all had voice over reworks so that didn't make sense until your explanation that Yi's was calling in an actor and having him re-record the lines as opposed to the cheaper way of others.
