Possible Aatrox Kit Changes

Aatrox/Trivia

Aatrox 's name comes from the Latin word 'atrox', meaning 'fierce, savage and cruel'. The English word 'atrocity' comes from this word. The word 'atrox' is also derived from 'ater' meaning dark, which may be an influencing factor in naming his species, the 'Darkin'. On top of this, it is likely that the name of his species is a play on 'Dark Kin' to allude to their demonic nature.

I feel as though he does Not live up to his name. My goal, is to change his kit into one that honors his name, and strikes fear into the hearts of all enemies.

New Kit Ideas: ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passive: **Pay Tribute: ** (Enemy Champions, Minions, and Neutral monsters) slain by Aatrox or his allies near (300 range) of him, have a chance (equal to his Life steal) to leave behind a pool of blood. While within 25 range of the pools, Aatrox absorbs them, increasing his Attack Speed by 1% and empowering his basic attacks to deal an additional 1% of his Max Hp as physical damage. The buff lasts for 7 seconds and the Attack Speed stacks up to 30% maximum/ 5% Max Hp damage maximum. Critical Strikes extend the duration of the buff by 0.5 seconds. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Q: Dark Flight: 700 Range/ Cost: 10% of current Hp/ Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Aatrox takes flight and slams down at a targeted location, dealing physical damage and knocking up enemies at the center of impact. Deals 60/100/140/170/200 (+60% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to all nearby enemies and knocking up targets at the center of impact for 1 second. Additionally, enemies hit deal 20% less damage to Aatrox for 2 seconds after the knock up. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ W: Blood Thirst/ Blood Price 1 Range/ Cost: No Cost/ 1 second global Cooldown While toggled on Aatrox deals bonus damage every third subsequent attack at the expense of his own Health. While toggled off Aatrox restores Health every third subsequent attack. While toggled off Aatrox benefits from Blood Thirst, while toggled on Blood Price is activated and removes Blood Thirst. Blood Thirst: Every third attack, Aatrox restores 20/25/30/35/40 (+25% bonus Attack Damage) Health, increased by 200% when below half Health. Blood Price: Every third attack, Aatrox deals 60/95/130/165/200 (+100% bonus Attack Damage) bonus physical damage and loses Health. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _E: Quills of Torment _ Range 300/ Cost: 5% of current Hp/ Cooldown 10/9/8/7/6 seconds Aatrox briefly charges his demonic energy for 1.5 seconds, then unleashes a volley of quills in all directions. While charging, all enemies within 250 range of Aatrox are slowed by 20%. Enemies that take damage from the quill explosion are slowed by 40% for 2 seconds. Quills deal 55/70/85/105/140 (+40% bonus attack damage) (Quill damage receives 50% of Aatrox's Life Steal and acts as Spell Vamp.) Aatrox can still do all normal functions while charging "Quills of Torment" and activating this ability resets his auto attack. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _R: Massacre _ Range 550/ Cost: Must be Blood Pools within 500 Range to Activate/ Cooldown 100/85/75 Aatrox draws in the blood of his foes, damaging all nearby enemies around him, gaining increased Attack Speed, and bonus Attack Range for 12 seconds. Massacre deals 150/250/325 (+70% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to all enemies around him. Massacre then grants him 40/50/60% attack speed and 175 attack range. Additionally, while Massacre is active, Aatrox receives the full stacked buff of "Pay Tribute", & kills and assists on enemy champions reduce the Cooldown on "Dark Flight" by 6 seconds.

Key Changes: What I really felt I was able to accomplish with this build was not only a more dynamic play style with versatility; but a real power spike in his damage and survivability. His entire kit now deals physical damage, making armor pen a much more desired stat for him. His passive focuses on life steal, crit, attack speed, and max hp; allowing more build paths and benefits from tanky or damage based builds.

The passive involves randomness, which is generally bad for competitive games (though Hearthstone seems to do fine with it). I would recommend it being non-random. It sounds like you get a blood pool which boosts stats 1% for 7 seconds, but I think this is underwhelming. In laning phase (or as a jungler) you effectively have no passive because even if you get a kill it is gone quickly (you probably won't use the buff after getting that kill), and 1% is small. I think benefits should be long lasting (stacks like Rengar, or maintained while dealing/taking damage), or should be very dramatic so in team fights with champions falling he can become a serious powerhouse.

The range on the Q is the same as Caitlyn's second rank ultimate, I think that is too much.

Along with his passive the ultimate also lends away from laning, as you may be unable to cast it against your opponent(s). Many champions will have a significant power advantage at level 6. Instead of requiring blood pools to activate the ability maybe the number of blood pools collected/near could amplify the power of the ability, or maybe you can activate it within x seconds or dealing/taking damage, or x% of HP, etc..

Now, the E spell. The AOE E spell is an interesting idea, scaling damage on life-steal for this bloody champion. I think one of Aatrox's main issues is his lack of stickiness. His Q is a very long CD, and without a slow/stun/move-speed amplifier he has a hard time actually doing what he needs to do - smack people. Maybe the E could be a second movement spell, allowing him to dash a short distance in a direction (Falcon Punch?). I noticed the Dark Flight cd reduction from kills also helps with his mobility, and I think it is pretty reasonable.

One last suggestion: Consider including the existing abilities details but strike them out. Unless people go look up existing numbers it may be difficult to recognize the changes. May not be beneficial, just a thought.

I like the pool of blood idea and the quills replacing his E. Maybe 1.5% instead of 1% on his passive.. But then again until in game you never know what effects of balance I truly has. (Changed passive from Q from what I said earlier. My mistake)
