HI!! So I made a super old post way back about a champ, and it wasn’t really good. But I think I perfected THE KIT!!
Caroline the Psychic Warrior
Bio: Born in Zaun as a child in the slums. She survived by joining a local gang full of kids just like her. (Ekko, Vi, or Jinx connection maybe? Haha.) And things were working out well for her too, until she was captured by a Zaun scientist. The Scientist experimented on her and tried to imbue within her the spiritual energy and magic that is famous throughout Ionia. But with neither a connection nor a gift with magic. Both types of energies rejected her and caused her immense pain and damage. The Scientist did not stop. He continued the cruel experiments without rest, it lasted for years. Until another incident took place. The spiritual energy and magic that rejected her for so long, finally entered her. It was finally absorbed into her own body. The energy fused, twisted, and was given a new form. The resulting form caused a massive burst of what the scientist labels as “psychic” energy. An energy that comes from the body itself, and not from outside sources. The massive burst destroyed the laboratory she was trapped in. And seizing this chance, she escaped. But she could no longer stay within Zaun. The energy within her was unstable. It left traces of her wherever she went. And the scientist would find her. And she would be captured again. Knowing this, she ran from the city for as fast as she can. She ran through woods and through entire cities and villages. The psychic energy within her was still unstable, causing her to hurt and harm the people around her. She was chased and criticized wherever she went. Life for her was abysmal. And it was during this time, while she broke down in despair in tears within a lonely forest, that a passing man, heard her anguish. And offered her help. His name was Hiro, a master in a martial art that utilizes chi. The energy within ones own body. Though Caroline’s energy could not be considered “chi” they nevertheless had similarities. A latent strength that dwells and comes from within. And under his tutelage and guidance, Caroline was able to hone and perfect her abilities. She was able to live and feel happiness.
Resource: DARK BLUE, Different from Mana Bar. Caroline’s abilities have no cost except for her Q. Her Q will continue to drain Psychic Energy until it is either Toggled off or put on cooldown. This resource bar is visible to the enemy, and will notify them how much psychic energy she has. Psychic energy will refill quickly at a really fast pace when Q is toggled off. Her Resource will look like this at Levels 1/11/16 respectively, 100/500/900 Role: Fighter/Bruiser, Assassin(?)(like Irelia) Auto Attack: Melee Primary Damage Source: AD
ABILITIES!
PASSIVE: Foreseen
Caroline is able to predict her opponents movements by tapping into the psychic energy within them and dodges it. -Caroline starts the game with 3 dodges. If any skill shots or skills are activated or shot within a radius around Caroline, she dodges it in the direction the cursor is facing. Her next auto attack after this dodge is ranged, and pierces through every enemy, the enemy that is last hit is marked by the debuff Psychic Will. -Each dodge has its own separate cooldown timer, and the passive will reset if all dodges have not been used. Example: skill shot is thrown within Caroline’s dodge range, she dodges, but her passive is still active. And within a set time, she will regain her max amount of dodges back. -If all of Caroline’s dodges are used in succession, the passive will go into a 30 second cooldown at ALL ranks. When Caroline reaches level 16, Foreseen will have a 15 second cooldown. -After each Dodge, Caroline’s basic attacks will become range and pierce through all enemies. The enemy last hit will be marked with the debuff, Psychic Will. When 3 Psychic Wills are on a target, the stacks will be consumed, and the opponent will be stunned. -Caroline’s Dodges can be canceled by her abilities, and any active abilities will take precedence and will not allow her to dodge. (IMPORTANT!!!) -Some of Caroline’s abilities may leave the enemy with a debuff called Psychic Will, and May enhance her other abilities. Shielding or rapid healing will remove all stacks of Psychic Will on said target. As well as moments of invulnerability or stasis. -(How the skill works with lore explanation. Caroline taps into the psychic energy dwelling within her, and that energy allows her to glimpse into the enemy’s mind. The ability is hard to do on a consecutive basis, she needs time and energy to fully predict her opponent (hence the cooldown and why she can only do it only a set amount of time). And having predicted her opponents attack, she prepares for it, and launches a strike of pure psychic energy. Think, BOOM, dodge, and she punches the air with her palm, and the palm sends out a blast of energy. In this case, psychic energy. And she can’t do this regularly because she needs to condense and prepare the psychic energy, hence why she can only use the range attacks 3 times. So like there!!)
Q- 2 Palm Strike (Toggle, Will continue to drain Psychic Energy until toggled off, or put on cooldown. Once this skill is offcool down, Psychic Energy will automatically refill to 100%)
Caroline’s basic attack range is extended slightly and she strikes the opponent 2 times, each strike is imbued with condensed psychic energy. -This ability can be toggled on or off and has a visual indicator for both the model and resource bar. This is the only ability of hers that has a cost. -This ability will not enter cooldown until the first auto attack hits. -The first auto attack deals damage, slows, and debuffs the enemy with “Psychic Will.” -The second auto attack will deal more damage, and if the enemy has a stack of Psychic Will, the stack will be consumed and the opponent will be stunned.
W- One Palm Strike Caroline strikes the area in front of her with a strong blast of psychic energy. If the energy hits a Champion, the energy will stop, and push the Champion away from Caroline a small distance. The enemy struck will be debuffed with Psychic Will. -If the enemy has one stack of Psychic Will, the enemy will be pushed back, the stack consumed, and Caroline will heal based on the opponents maximum health. -This ability has a short cast duration, and during this short cast duration, Caroline will take 50% less damage. The cast duration is about 1.5 secs. So ITS NOT LIKE IRELIA. It’s really short. -If no champion is within the range of This ability, the skill shot will continue and bypass all minions before finally stopping. (It’s as long as the usual minion wave distance. From caster to melee) -This abilities knockback distance is really small, it is not like Vayne’s condemn, it just pushes you away from Caroline. -It is good for breaking enemy combos or for countering their combos by giving yourself a little room to breath.
E- Psychic Blast Caroline unleashes the Psychic energy within her outwards. All enemies hit by This ability will be knocked away from her. All enemies will be marked with the debuff Psychic Will. -Think Diana E, but smaller, and pushes enemy away instead of towards. -If the enemy has a stack of Psychic Will, all stacks will be consumed and the enemy will take additional damage based on the number of Psychic Wills, from Psychic Blast and slightly slowed. -This ability in Conjunction with R’s passive is a good to load up on massive amounts of damage.
R- Psychic Force Caroline strikes the ground in front of her. The strike massively condenses psychic energy, damages, and draws in all opponents towards her. All enemies will be marked with the debuff Psychic Will. If the enemy was previously Marked. Psychic Will, will be consumed and all enemies will be stunned. Passive: The number of psychic will’s on an opponent will increase your damage on the opponent proportionately depending on how much Psychic Will is stacked on them. -Now think actual Diana E, but stronger. -Will Apply Psychic Will. -If the enemy/enemies were already marked with Psychic Will, than they will all be stunned.
Difficulty 10/10
Pros: -Safe -Another Combo champion
- Flexible, made with flexibility in mind. -Caroline is an adaptable champion and can work in a lot of situations
Con: -Difficult -Micro Management. -If you cant micro than don’t play her. Must know when to use Q and abilities and at what time. When to dodge, where to dodge, how to use it effectively. -Mobility is dependent on the enemy. Caroline has no other movement.
Playing as Caroline:
Try to manage your dodge counters well, and use them strategically. They are her only movement abilities. And without them, she is quite weak. Smart opponents will try to waste all your Dodges at once, and set its cooldown timer earler so they will not have to worry about it. And since Foreseen has a cooldown of 30 seconds at all ranks till 16, a smart opponent can time for when you are at your weakest to engage. But, that’s not all. Caroline has the capabilities to turn a situation into her favor.
Early game as Caroline is quite easy actually. Caroline has 3 movement abilities level one, and each time she does dodge, her auto attacks become range, and pierce. Allowing her to have a safe and easy time at farming. But once Level 3 hits, is when it gets hard. Your opponent has 3 abilities, some of them short cooldown or long. But they still have 3 abilities. They can use them to waste your dodges early. But if such a situation arises. It is usually your time to strike. Opponents who cannot waste all 3 of your dodges during trades will soon find that they are in an annoying matchup. Since Caroline will eventually regain her dodges, at a faster pace than when her passive is in its cooldown. The usual engage combo for Caroline is, quite easy. She has counter play as well as active play. You either wait for your opponent, to strike first and maneuver around them. While striking them from a distance with her ranged autos. To begin stacking her Psychic Will To enhance her abilities. But you must know when to go in, and when not to. And how to effectively manage your dodge counters. And if you utilize them well, you might be able to annoy and harass for long and extended periods. But having said that, it is quite easy to waste Caroline’s passive too, without doing anything. Long ranged champions may be able to poke you down and waste your dodges like that. And other champions have abilities that allow for fast activation. Caroline’s dodges are quick and fast, as long as she has 3 dodges active. Caroline will automatically dodge any skill shot and skill activation in a radius around her. Caroline’s Q is a huge part of her kit as well! As stated above, Caroline’s abilities can overrule her Dodge mechanic and not allow her to move. Her Q is a big help to this. As it is a toggle, she can keep it active for as long as she has Psychic Energy. And since it is active and toggled on, it will not allow her to Dodge. So keeping it active is a good way to maintain your dodge counters. But that is until you run out of psychic energy, or attack something. Than This ability will automatically be put on cooldown. The cooldown is quite long early as well, so it is a bit difficult to handle. And quite easy to outplay. Caroline is a combo champion, and works with her Dodges as well as Psychic Will Stacks. Here are a couple of usual combos. Dodge 1, Auto Attack, Enemy Debuffed, Q, Slow, Second Q, Stun, W or E, to disengage or to continue engaging by consuming your Psychic Wills depending on the situation.
A straightforward combo would be, opponent throws 3 skill shots, you dodge all of them with Passive and auto attack in between each dodge to stack debuff, and when the 3rd ranged auto hits. They become stunned. You go in with Q, restun them, and consume the stacks of Psychic Will in the process with the second Stun, use either W or E, if you want a heal or more damage. Or Use, E, to push, than R to repush, and then W for damage and heal.
And also don’t forget, Enemies May remove your stacks of Psychic Will if they have a rapid heal or a shield, so try and use up the stacks before they are give such a chance.
Caroline’s Q is good for trades due to the stun and for playing mind games with the opponent. Caroline’s W, is a useful skill for long ranged wavwclear or a poke. And during trades, it can help you set up your skills, and or block incoming damage, during the short activation time. This is Caroline’s dedensive ability. And it is all about timing, how many stacks the opponent have, and do you need the heal now? Must use it wisely, and this in Conjunction with her E, will allow her to disengage quite safely from fights, and save her dodge counter cooldown. Caroline’s E is a simple ability that does damage and disengages from a fight. Caroline is a champion that focuses on a lot of flexibility and Maneuverbility as her core focus and basis. ! She will force your opponent to think, and you as well.
And Late Game for Caroline is quite hard. During team fights, it is quite easy for your Dodges to be activated in rapid succession, and if you aren’t prepared, it could doom everything. A good way to try and get into a team fight using your dodge is, dodge near them and into them! If they manage to CC you during the brief interval between each dodge, than use W, to try and block incoming damage, and than if they are around you. Activate e, to knock them away, and apply Psychic Will, and than quickly activate R, next. To help your team assist you be drawing them all in one direction and stunning them since they were marked by Psychic Will Previously. Use your ranged piercing autos to help during team fights! You can get massive damage late game by doing that!
Playing Against Caroline- Waste her dodges. That’s it. Caroline has no movement ability other than those 3 dashes. Once al 3 dashes are wasted, the cooldown will be 30 seconds at all ranks till 16, and when it’s at 16, it will be 15, which is easy to remember. Ask for help from your jungler to keep her dash counter down. Though ganking her will be hard due to the tools she has to disengage and move around with. Once those are wasted, she is quite easy prey, but you must be careful, for she can turn and outplay it quite easily if you allow her to get close. Caroline cannot directly get close to you either. She has no DASHES. She only DODGES. She cannot move if you do not give her the preemptive. In the mid laneC champions like Lux and Orianna will have an easy time keeping her Passive always on cooldown. Caroline will dodge EVERYTHING, if it is a skill shot within her dodge radius. Example, Lux’s barrier will activate her dodge even though it does not deal damage. And if you can predict what direction she’ll dodge in, you could maybe even combo out of it, but the time in between each dodge is quite brief. You have to act fast if you want to. Champions with no skill shots are easy to punish her as well. Irelia’s Multiple activation of her reset Q’s May take up all her dodges in an instant, as well as Riven’s Q. But you must be aware! If the Caroline player is good and notices you trying to waste her dodges, she may activate her Q, to try and outplay you. And her Q has a resource indicator as well. If you act fast, you may be able to drain it quickly. Since the cooldown is long early game and the resource is small. And also keep track of how much Psychic Will is on you. Once Caroline is Level 6, that is when things get dangerous. You may not want to throw skillshots even though you know she’s walking in a straight line to you, but you mustn’t allow her to get close. If Caroline is close enough, she may not even need her dodges to get you, and can draw you in with her Ult, and do a quick ULT, Q, stun combo for lots of damage. And if you try to counter it during that time, than she may dodge. But you must also remember! During the time that Caroline is using her abilities, she CANNOT dodge at all. But be aware of her W, must bait it out, since she can negate your burst if you act too quickly. But if you time it right, and Caroline is CCed, than it won’t matter. Since the damage reduction is very brief.
