Lin Shao - The Wandering Pilgrim (Full FIghter Concept and Lore)
Lin Shao The Wandering Pilgrim
Lore: Lin never forgot what it was like to be a child. The simple curiosity, undeniable in its pursuit and never ending. The invincibility, always strong in resolve and capable of taking everything on. The carefree nature of just about everything, not concerned with any worldly problems. No, she never forgot; the world just found a way for her to grow up before her time. It started as any other tragedy does: with destruction.
May was everything Lin wanted in a sister: strong, fearless, loyal, and completely compassionate. Lin has never needed to worry while May was around. Her qualities made the world just seem brighter, and in that brightness she just seemed to shine as well. Unfortunately, the world seemed to notice this too. At the age of eighteen, May enlisted in the Ionian defence to help protect the nation from Noxus. The war was spreading out of control, she said, and Ionia wouldn't be ignored forever.
Lin, however, just wanted to live life in peace. The monks allowed her into the ranks at twelve, and there she resolved to help within Ionia while her sister protected the outside. It seemed like the right thing to do, living a different life in pursuit of different goals. She wasn't a warrior like May, nor as headstrong and fearless, so living for other people in serenity seemed more like her. Or so she thought.
Then, right as she predicted, the war was on the shores of Ionia. The days, weeks, months that followed were not just bad, but utter chaos. Lin stayed on the backlines, helping the injured and sick as best as she could. She never doubted for a moment that May would be okay, that she would defend them all and make it back home. By the end of the war, after what seemed like an endless amount of time, many laid dead and countless more laid injured. It took weeks after the fighting had ended to stabilise the injured and pay proper respects to the dead.
She just never imagined she would be doing it for May.
Lin wasn't the same after that. Some part of her knew that, deep in the recesses of her mind, but the more vocal voice in her mind paid that part of her no heed. The monks lessons did not train enough. Helping the injured was no longer rewarding. Seeing the villagers no longer brought joy. It was as if the life she knew before was just a lie, just a story for kids at bedtime or some dream from so long ago. Now that she had woken up, it seemed pointless - all of it.
She was fourteen when she left the village. Not a word to anyone, not even the monks she had long since stopped worshipping and now look at with distaste. It felt and seemed as if her order had done nothing substantial during the war, nothing at all. How useless they all seemed, even herself. So she left, without so much as a whisper. She left on a pilgrimage to unknowingly find herself again.
By the time she returned, six years had past. Now Lin Shao, a woman and warrior grown, returned to her land to see for herself what had become of it. Evidence of war still scarred the land, but the people seemed to have recovered. Many have started their plantations again, shop owners trading goods as it was before. Nothing much changed in this fair village it seemed, even despite the war. The hate that left the town with her all those years ago was long since gone, and despite everything that had happened here; Lin smiled. This was always home.
A month passed by, and already she felt the itch: to get out and explore. Often her minds drifted to thoughts of revenge, especially over the years of solitude she endured, but never had she acted upon it once. Nor did she feel any desire to now, but she did want to see how the war had affected the rest of the world outside Ionia. Leaving on the nearest vessel she set out, ready to face the new world she had never seen, and prepared to face the full force of the unknown once again.
Abilities:
Passive Ability: Way of the Open Hand Ability One (Q): Rabbit Stance: Quivering Palm Ability Two (W): Ox Stance: Eternal Fortitude Ability Three (E): Crane Stance: Equilibrium Disruption Ultimate Ability (R): Serpent Stance: Seven-Sided Strike
Passive Ability - Way of the Open Hand
Passive: Lin Shao's serpent technique specialises in a 3-hit combo. On the third strike, Lin Shao deals 10 x Champion Level, plus 3% of the target's missing health as bonus attack damage on top of the normal attack damage. On every third hit, any of Lin Shao's abilities that are on cool down are reduced by 0.5 seconds (1 second when attacking an enemy champion). After using a basic ability, the first strike becomes an instant third hit and Lin Shao passively enters a stance until she uses another ability that affects her 3-hit combo in these ways:
Rabbit Stance: Quivering Palm - The damage from Way of the Open Hand increases to 15 x Champion Level, plus 4.0/4.75/5.5/6.25/7.0% of the target's missing health as physical damage, and every third hit increases her movement speed by 20% that decays over 1.5 seconds.
Ox Stance: Eternal Fortitude: Every third hit now increases Lin Shao's armour and magic resist by 6/8/10/12/14, stacking up to three times. The amount of stacks affect how strong Ox Stance: Eternal Fortitude's active becomes. The stacks will not be removed until Lin Shao's stance has been changed or the active of Ox Stance: Eternal Fortitude has been used.
Crane Stance: Equilibrium Disruption: Every third hit increases your attack speed by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20%, stacking up to three times. The amount of stacks affect how strong Crane Stance: Equilibrium Disruption's active becomes. The stacks will not be removed until the active of Crane Stance: Equilibrium Disruption has been used. If Lin Shao changes stance out of Crane Stance, the bonus attack speed will decay over 2.5 seconds.
Ability One (Q) - Rabbit Stance: Quivering Palm
Passive: As seen above in Way of the Open Hand.
Active: Lin Shao enters her Rabbit Stance and dashes forward in a line, interacting with the first enemy champion or wall struck. When dashing forward, all minions and small monsters take 60/105/150/195/240 (+0.6 Attack Damage) physical damage as Lin Shao strikes through them and knocks them aside slightly. The first enemy champion struck instantly gets struck three times over 0.3 seconds, causing the target to take 80/130/180/230/280 (+0.8 Attack Damage). This ability also proc's the third strike effect of Way of the Open Hand with the effect of the last stance used before Rabbit Stance: Quivering Palm. Lin Shao also applies Quiver to the target enemy champion for 5 seconds, causing all physical damage that strikes the target to echo out and strike all of their allies within 350 radius of the target for 35/45/55/65/75% of it's original damage.
If Lin Shao strikes a wall with this ability, she bounces off the wall and jumps up to 500 range away from it, gaining an adrenaline rush that increases her movement speed by 23/26/29/32/35% upon executing the movement for 3 seconds.
Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds.
Ability Two (W) - Ox Stance: Eternal Fortitude
Passive: As seen above in Way of the Open Hand.
Active: Lin Shao enters her Ox Stance and fortifies himself, creating a shield for 2.5 seconds that absorbs 30/60/90/120/150 (+0.2 Attack Damage, 2% Maximum Health) damage. If the shield shatters before that time Lin Shao forces her energy outwards, slowing enemies around her by 20/25/30/35/40 movement speed for 1 second.
The strength of the shield increases by 15/25/35/45/55 (+0.1 Attack Damage, 1% Maximum Health) and increases the shield's duration by 0.5 seconds per stack in the ability's passive, up to a maximum of 75/135/195/255/315 (+0.5 Attack Damage, 5% Maximum Health) shield that lasts up to 4 seconds. After the shield ends, by whatever means, the passive stacks from Ox Stance: Eternal Fortitude resets.
Cooldown: 14/12/10/8/6 seconds after the shield breaks.
Ability Three (E) - Crane Stance: Equilibrium Disruption
Passive: As seen above in Way of the Open Hand.
Active: Lin Shao enters her Crane Stance before striking forward, causing Ki-empowered energy to shoot forward in a cone and deal 40/80/120/160/200 (+0.3 Attack Damage, +0.3 Ability Power) physical damage to all enemies struck. All enemies hit that are currently channelling an ability also have that interrupted.
The strength of the energy wave increases by 15/20/25/30/35 (+0.15 Attack Damage, +0.15 Ability Power) physical damage, and silences all enemies hit for 0.5 seconds, up to a maximum of 85/140/195/250/305 (+0.75 Attack Damage, +0.75 Ability Power) physical damage and silencing enemies for 1.5 seconds.
Cooldown: 18/16/14/12/10 seconds.
Ultimate Ability (R) - Serpent Stance: Seven Sided Strike
Passive: This stance utilises all three stances at once for 6/7/8 seconds. Activating another ability in this time will use the active without changing the stance. At end of the passive, Lin Shao will slip into the stance equal to the last ability used.
Active: Lin Shao targets an enemy champion within 300 range, causing her to dash forward and strike a target six times over 0.75 seconds, stunning them for the duration. After finding the weakness in the target's armour, Lin Shao strikes into the target with her palm with Ki energy, causing the target to explode with volatile Ki energy. The target enemy champion takes 100/150/200 (+0.6 Attack Damage, +0.6 Ability Power) physical damage, increasing up to 200/300/400 (+1.2 Attack Damage, +1.2 Ability Power) physical damage depending on the target's missing health. If Lin Shao is interrupted by crowd control that prevents her from attacking while she is stunning a target, Serpent Stance: Seven Sided Strike fails and the cooldown is reduced to 30 seconds.
Cooldown: 120/100/80 seconds.
Creator's Notes:
- The name Lin Shao was a play on words from Xiaolin, the name of the only Chinese monks that utilised combat with their lifestyle. This compliments her kit and lore as a wandering Ionian monk.
- Lin Shao's abilities are all developed around two concepts: Her passive (The three-hit combo), and her monk-like background.
- A couple of concept ideas came from comments on my previous page found here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/inamnTqE-fighter-champion-concept-what-do-you-think?comment=000000000000
