[December MCCC] Hunter, Vigil against the Chaos
Hunter is property of jordyn taylor fischer. However, this contest entry is in testament to her as a friend.
Lore: They say that the world as it is today is going down the drain. I think it's just going in a different direction. Me? I just wanna guide it back on track.
All I remember is what happened earlier today on my way to the meeting point. I was hearing about many who were gathering against the chaos to make a final offensive. I just wanted to do a job that I took up when all hell broke loose at the time. I've been hunting creatures of chaos for quite some time. So much so, I forgot how long I've been doing it.
My feet crinkle the grey ashen dirt below me while on my way to the mountains of Targon. Big place, big mountain, but still protected by the Iron Solari. Stalwart, tride, true, and really bigoted with the sun I guess. But all I feel about it is the thin atmosphere and the breeze against my mane. The hike up was the least of my worries before I saw what else was following me below.
The sun clouded by the skies alone made it difficult to make out the shadowed figures. However, with how they appear, the misshapen masses of ichor and flesh looked reminiscent of voidlings. I feel like they were hoping to be the welcome party to the meet-up. Well, I feel welcomed already.
The howling screech from each voidlings maw like orofice was like hearing nails on the scratching post of life ringing in my long fuzzy ears. Sounds like my kind of jam. I spring with hard velocity from my sturdy bent legs, and pile drive into one group without even thinking. Course my footwork kicks in bouncing back and forth like a rave.
Each clawing tear of motion from my nails rake through glopping skin and carapace, feeling the inches of alien flesh and bone snap and tear with each swipe. I manage to hop out of the mass before backing off for a breather. Course, they didn't look like they were done with our dance number yet.
I manage to move away around some rocky formations of granite and stone, pushing my back into the heavy formations, and managing to topple over some rock in an avalanche on a few of those suckers. Course things don't go my way much after until two of them cling to my back like ticks.
Big mistake
My body tenses up and my muscles toughen, grabbing the buggy things like tissue paper with each scrape of my claws. My teeth gnawing and mashing a few pathetic heads to a pulp with popping bone marrow echoing in my ears. One last Roar after and my body looked like it lit up like the moon with enough vibrant colors to blind those assholes. Course that moment of blindness would be the worst for them.
I'll save the gorey details for you and just say that I managed to come out of my high after a while. My body was soaked in various hues of bloody void blue and purple. More color for my pelt I say. Course, thinking I would blend in with their colors was a bad idea. But at least it makes me a target instead of others.
Long as I do my job, then no one complains. But I think the real party is about to begin at the top of the mountain. My last thought would be wondering who's bringing their A-game along with me. So bring it on I say, cause my job is being 'the thing that bumps back in the night'.
