Nice painting, though I'm not much of a painter myself, but the balance and theme to me seems off.

From what I can understand, it's a painting of karthus striking fear on the inhabitants of bildgewater yet why is the picture so bright? To me it honestly looks like the people holding the candles in the background are like saviours just the way it was colored. I suck at balancing contrast whenever I decide to draw, but I would somehow (if only I was good enough) make the background have more shadows to strike an eerie theme rather than bright blue and white that's almost blinding.

Nevertheless good work, if I ever tried painting that I'd be stuck days trying to get the nice tone for shades and days trying to get a nice body figure, cause if there's ever even the slightest amount of pain that goes over the lines, I would continually try to cover it up until it looks nice XD

Well, Karthus believes what he preaches is good for others. It could be intentional to show the contrast between how Karthus perceives his message (bright background with sorta angel-looking figure in the background) and how others see it (they run away screaming in terror). If that was the intention of the OP, I have to say I quite like it ^^

BIG THANK YOU. That's exactly my intention behind this painting. Karthus actually inspired my lifestyle and I must say I'm having much fun living (or should I say "unliving"? Lol) by these principles and it's way easier for me to deal with inevitability of death and deaths of others because when you actually start understanding it as a good thing, life becomes so much easier. So back to the painting, the bright figures are actually Karthus' choir and people who understood what he meant by purity of death and joined him (so would I). Never hunger, never tire, never fear. Only joy.

I must say I fucked up one thing which is looked at at any art school and that is if the object fits into the format - which it doesn't, Karthus' staff continues behind the painting's border :/
