Griffin Champion Idea
I came up with the idea (not like many of you out there haven't thought the same) about a Griffin/Gryphon champion. Now, I don't like to try to come up with all of the little details behind these ideas, I shall leave that to the wonderful ppl of Riot.
Anyways, I did some research on just the basic stories and lore behind griffins and so this is just my attempt to tie all of these attributes I learned about into one. The attached link is what gave me the majority of my inspirations and, if my idea is liked enough, it could be used to help the developers with their on inspirations on the champion.
Essentially I wanted this champions background to be how he/she and their mated pair were once guardians of [Riot insert w/e name here. For the sake of it I'll just call it The Temple]. So this Temple here supposed to be a house of knowledge and deep inside lies riches that this griffin pair have collected of the decades they have been mated. Well, humans always sought out this Temple for both its knowledge and treasures and once day just like any other, a group of men approached to take those riches. Being the guardian's of a Temple this sacred, they can't just let anyone pass, so there is a test. They required a game of riddles, for it was the only game that was ever fun enough to play with humans (I don't imagine a game of chase or tag being to hard for a griffin), and it's the easiest way for them to determine if one has the capacity to handle the knowledge inside (lets face it some riddles are easy and some are really really hard as you have to force your brain to think in a certain way to be able to answer those kinds of questions and not everyone is able to do that just off the hat). So as this game continued between the griffin pair and the leaders of the human group, as the riddles got harder and harder as the game got more and more exciting for the pair, they failed to notice the trap being set all around them. Once the trap is sprung, the pair fights for their lives, but one of them just doesn't make it and the Temple get's raided and destroyed. All the knowledge they lived to protect now gone. Their life partner now dead, never to come back.
So I actually wanted Sivir to be one of the raiders of this Temple because I wanted that to fuel a hatred within this Champion for the League. This hatred of Sivir and the League of Legends would be what drives him/her to join (griffins are known to have only one partner in their life time, if that partner dies, they will not search for a new one)., so that they can win the title and destroy the League. But whatever way they want to connect it is up to the developers
ABILITIES IDEAS Once again, I am not going to try to come up with the details of the abilities, as I only have idea's for what would be good abilities.
At the start of every game, much like with Kalista's oath-sworn, you will need to bind yourself to ONE ally champion for the duration of the game. Since Griffin's don't ever choose a second mate, giving you the option to switch who your bonded too doesn't make sense to me. So this will be a very heavy team based champion, but if you and your allies really worked together there are many ways to make use of this champion and many ways I'm sure to counter it.
Auto Attacks So most ppl would probably see griffin's as being melee with those claws and that beak, however according to lore griffin's were supposedly able to control the elements of water and lightning, so I thought that making the auto's small little water bullets he/she would shoot out of their beak. This way you can show that griffin's have these powers without having to make a major move around it.
Passive--Don't Get Caught Very similar to dragons, griffins love their gold A LOT, but it's kinda hard to make an abilities around taking gold without it being exactly like TF's passive and without making the game super broken. So essentially this ability idea is along the lines of: Whenever one of your abilities hit's and enemy champion, it causes them to drop loot (gold) that ANYONE. You share some of this loot you have picked up with an ally champion. (This needs to refresh every 30sec or w/e for this next reason), in the midst of battle, if an enemy champion kills you, they take the loot that you have picked up. If he/she doesn't share his/her loot before the refresh, he/she keeps all the loot for themselves. At first I wanted this to only be able to work with the ally you bonded yourself too, but it's a team game, and sometimes your adc is not the one that needs the gold (assuming this champion would be used as a supp), but the top laner or jg could use it. So you could take the picking system for Kindred's passive and use that as a way to determine who you share your loot with to help with that decision making.
ANOTHER PASSIVE IDEA (keeping the greedy concept still) Similar to Bard's passive with collecting the scrolls, small little pockets of 'dropped gold/gems' would appear at random across the map. At random, the pockets would contain 5/10/20/50/100 gold for anyone to pick up (the 5/10/20 would be common while the 50 and 100 gold being rare). A kind of fun passive for him/her would be universal, for both your allies and enemy's to take advantage of.
Ability--On My Way Passive--gains x/y/z movement speed when running toward bound ally champion. Active--Leaping forward a small distance, he/she swipes at nearby enemies doing damage. We don't really NEEEEEEED another flying champion, a leap or jump should work just fine I think.
Ability--Don't Dare Passive--As his/her health decreases, his/her armor and magic resistance increases by x/y/z% Active--When targeting an allied champion, formes a shield of water that protects you or your ally for X% AD/AP. When targeting an enemy champion, sends a static jolt that roots and silences (because electricity) for x/y/z seconds and dealing x/y/z damage.
Ability--Not This Time (should be the ulty) Active- can only be activated when bonded ally's health drops below [enter percentage]. Wishing to protect his/her bonded ally, he/she places him/herself in front of their bonded ally and releases a force of water and lighting from his/her beak dealing damage and slowing enemies caught in the blast and your ally gains x/y/z AD/AP and x/y/z Armor/Magic Resistance. All for for x/y/z seconds. This is a combination of Braum's Sand Behind Me and Vel'Koz/Lux/Miss Fortune ultys.
This is what I have come up with so far. Like I said, I don't bother dealing with the details but a champion like this would be really fun to play I think. Oh and one more small detail, this champion must ALWAYS speak in riddles. Everything he/she say's must be a riddle. It's just part of the essence of the champion to always be consistently testing the knowledge of everyone around him/her. Anyways, lemme know what you guys think.
