[CHAMPION CONCEPT] Laglyr, the Hateful Hag

What’s this? Orx has resurfaced?! Well sure why not. What’s the use of a manic episode if it doesn’t include unwarranted internet posts! I’ve had this concept rattling about for a while, and I’ve the whim to put it down for the keks, and the lulz, and even a little for the chortles.

Name Laglyr

Title the Hateful Hag (alternatives include “the Hateful”, “the Yordle-Eater”, and “the Ancient Grudge”)

Classifications Mage, Support (Melee)

Ratings Damage 4/5 Toughness 1/5 Control 5/5 Mobility 1/5 Utility 2/5

Lore I used to do a Long of It and Short of It section here but since I don’t know how to make collapsible text boxes I’ve decided to reduce clutter and post only the Short of It Depending on the region, yordles are either an uncommon oddity or the stuff of fairy tales. The diminutive race has perfected its glamours to better hide in plain sight, and even where they’re known they maintain an air of mystery because of it. They can have many enemies. Some seek to wring out their innate magic. Others mean to harness their innate brilliance to their own ends. None have the unbridled hatred for them that Laglyr does. The bogeyman of yordle bedtime stories, Laglyr is to many the stuff of fairy tales. To an unlucky few who venture off alone, she is the reason they are never seen again.

The oldest yordle legends seem to run parallel to those of Mount Targon, and one in particular makes mention of one of the Targonian Aspects seeking human form and accidentally choosing a glamoured yordle for its vessel. The yordle’s innate magic rejected the presence and it was forced into a dreadful in-between state, having failed incarnation and yet having already left behind its celestial origin. So perversed, it could not return from whence it came, and failed to successfully find a vessel in human form. Bodiless, it stalked its original yordle target, who was a mage of some renown. Reading his tomes over his shoulder, practicing his spells behind his back, it learned to use the magic of the material realm, and by fueling it with its celestial power was able to override the yordle’s innate magic and hijack its body, twisting it in the process. An alien unwelcome in its new vessel, it was shortly driven mad by being confined to the yordle’s physiology, vastly different from the human one it had been prepared to seize. The yordle’s characteristic amicability and love for company was twisted into pure, raging hatred for everything yordle. It is referred to by the rarely-used old yordle word for “hag”: Laglyr.

Some say she has stalked Valoran all these many years, periodically snatching away isolated yordles and gobbling them up, adding their mass to her own to replace that which time erodes. Some say she has since learned to see through glamours, and favors the taste of yordles who go out on their own into human society. Some scoff at such silly stories and laugh it off before giving dark alleys a decidedly wider berth than before.

Appearance Laglyr stands twice as tall as an average yordle, and is emaciated and long-limbed. Her flesh is orange-red, with a slimy appearance. Her hands are uneven: her left has spindly claws as long as her arm, the right is bloated and missing two of its fingers. Much of the rest of her body is hidden under a heavy but ragged black-blue robe of a material similar to burlap. It heavily hangs over her face, obscuring it but held up by a long, bony, beak-like nose, under which a grimacing mouth of crooked, needle-like teeth is visible over a narrow chin. Ratty black hair hangs down out of the hood’s base. Laglyr is hunched nearly double on herself, the hump of her back rising higher than her head. The robe tapers away into rags at the base, but Laglyr’s feet aren’t visible and she seems to float above the ground. Laglyr speaks with a harsh, gravelly crone’s voice.

Abilities Passive: Where Only Heroes Dare Laglyr’s form reduces all but the strongest wills to wobble-kneed floundering. Enemy minions and non-epic monsters within 700 units of Laglyr become intimidated by her, glowing a sickly yellow and dealing 10% reduced damage for as long as they remain within range. In addition, the first time Laglyr applies hard crowd control to an enemy champion they additionally become Horrified, reducing damage they deal by 15% for 2 seconds after the inflicting crowd control effect wears off. After Laglyr Horrifies an enemy, she cannot do so again for 30 seconds, unaffected by cooldown reduction. =Enemies can see Laglyr’s passive affecting minions and monsters, even if they can’t see Laglyr. =Enemy super minions are not affected by Laglyr’s passive. =When Laglyr’s Horrify effect is off cooldown, the hunch on her back glows red. =While a champion is Horrified, its model’s colors become less saturated and its shadow grows extremely dark. When graphics settings omit shadows, a dark shadow is present on an affected champion anyway until the effect wears off. =Horrify does not begin ticking down its two-second duration until the champion is freed from the crowd control that Laglyr applied it with. Additional crowd control layered overtop does not delay its duration timer, unless that crowd control is the same kind that applied it and is applied before the initial effect wears off. Cleanse effects that remove the initial effect early also remove Horrify. =The cooldown for Horrify’s application begins when Laglyr applies the appropriate crowd control effect, not when Horrify wears off and not when Horrify actually starts its duration timer. =If there are multiple Laglyrs on the same team, their passives on minions and monsters do not stack, and if a Horrified champion is hit by Horrify again it refreshes the duration.

Ability One: Profane Outburst Laglyr singles out an enemy champion and cries a hideous threat at them, Stunning them if they’re close enough to hear it. Laglyr selects an enemy champion within 500 range and begins channeling for 2/1.75/1.5/1.25/1 seconds. If the target is still within 500 range when the channel completes, it is Stunned for 0.25/0.5/0.75/1/1.25 seconds. If the target is out of range when the channel completes, Laglyr is refunded Profane Outburst’s mana cost but the ability goes on full cooldown. Cost of 25/30/35/40/45 Mana. Cooldown of 15/14/13/12/10 seconds. =Profane Outburst is neither a projectile nor a tether. =Profane Outburst’s Stun can hit a target in range even if it is Untargetable or Laglyr does not have Sight of it. =Laglyr always finishes the channel of Profane Outburst unless hit with CC that interrupts channels. Laglyr will continue to channel even when the target leaves range. If the target reenters range it can still be hit. =Laglyr can only cancel the channel of Profane Outburst by starting another channel or using a summoner spell. =Laglyr can move, use item actives, and auto attack while channeling Profane Outburst. =The targeted champion can see a radius around Laglyr while she channels against them, unless they don’t have sight of Laglyr. If a target doesn’t have sight of Laglyr, being hit by the Stun grants them Sight of her for the duration of it.

Ability Two: Chase Down Laglyr’s claw courses with magic power. She can activate this ability to dash in a direction and then sprint towards an enemy champion, prioritizing those under hard crowd control. Passive: Laglyr’s auto attacks deal 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% of her total ability power as magic damage. Active: Laglyr dashes 200 units in a target direction and then locks onto an enemy champion within 300 units, prioritizing those under hard crowd control, and autopaths towards them for 1 second, ending early if she enters her auto attack range against it. After Laglyr dashes, she Ghosts and gains 20% (plus 5% per 20 bonus ability power) movement speed decaying over 3 seconds. Cost of 25/24/23/22/20 Mana. Cooldown of 10/8/7/6/5 seconds. =Laglyr chooses the closest enemy champion under hard crowd control in range as the target. If there are no such targets, she chooses the closest enemy champion. If there are still no such targets, she chooses no target and does not autopath. =When Laglyr is choosing a target, she does not consider Untargetable or Stasis to be hard crowd control. =Laglyr can only choose champions she has vision of as targets. =Laglyr might select a target through terrain, and will accordingly try to autopath around it. =Laglyr autopaths for the first second of the movespeed buff, the other two have free movement. =Laglyr can use nonchanneling summoner spells and activate items while autopathing. Laglyr stops autopathinng early if hit with hard crowd control, if the target dies, or if she begins channeling Teleport.

Ability Three: Strike, Strike, Skreigh Laglyr empowers her next three attacks, ending with a terrible screech that Fears opponents. If she uses Chase Down while empowered, she skips to the third attack. Laglyr’s next two attacks deal an additional 10/20/25/28/30 + (30% bonus ability power) magic damage each. The third attack deals 10/20/25/28/30 + (50% bonus ability power) magic damage and Fears enemy units within 200 units of Laglyr for 1 second. Laglyr is healed for 20% of the damage dealt by the third attack after reductions. Cost of 25/24/23/21/20 Mana. Cooldown of 5 seconds. If Laglyr uses Chase Down while her attacks are empowered by Strike, Strike, Skreigh, her next auto attack gains the effect of the third attack and her attacks stop being empowered when she uses it. =When Laglyr uses Strike, Strike, Skreigh, her claw glows red and she gains two stacks of Strike, which are consumed when she auto attacks, regardless of if the attack hits. After consuming two stacks of Strike, she gains Skreigh, which is spent when she makes her next auto attack, regardless of if the attack hits. If Laglyr uses Chase Down while she has Strike stacks, she loses them all and gains Skreigh. Strike and Skreigh last for 2 seconds each (each Strike stack has a different duration). If any Strike stack or Skreigh time out, the ability goes on cooldown and Strike and Skreigh are lost. Otherwise, the ability goes on cooldown when Skreigh is spent. =Laglyr’s empowered damage stacks with the passive part of Chase Down. =Laglyr’s claw glows red for the first two attacks. Her head glows red as well when she’s ready to Skreigh. =Damage dealt to shields is factored into the healing Laglyr gains from the Skreigh attack.

Ultimate: Gobble Up Laglyr snatches an enemy champion away to another plane and tries to eat them. After a delay, she and the target return and Fear surrounding enemies. Laglyr screams, becoming Unstoppable and dashing at 5500 movespeed towards an enemy champion within 900 range. Upon reaching it, she and the target Vanish for 3 seconds. During this time, a circle with a radius of 300 units appears at the point of Vanishing and follows Laglyr’s cursor at 150 movespeed. After three seconds, Laglyr and her target reappear at the center of this circle, Fearing enemies within it for 1/1.5/2 seconds and dealing 100/175/250 + (30% bonus ability power) + (70% bonus attack damage) to the target. Cost of 100/125/150 Mana. Cooldown of 60/50/40 seconds. =Laglyr’s dash towards her target cannot be stopped. It will always hit the target unless the target is in Stasis when she reaches it, is dead when she reaches it, or has recalled or Teleported more than 1000 units away. In such cases, Laglyr reaches the point her target was at and stops, and half of the cooldown of Gobble Up is refunded. =If the target is Untargettable or Unstoppable when Laglyr reaches it, she hits them anyway, overriding Unstoppable. If the target is Untargetable through means of a death passive, Laglyr treats them as dead on arrival. =Laglyr can be killed during the dash. =The Vanish effect of Gobble Up cannot be Cleansed and is unaffected by Tenacity. =Buff and debuff timers, regen, and cooldowns are paused for Laglyr and her target while Vanished. =Neither Laglyr nor her target can buffer abilities or movement commands while Vanished. The targeting circle for the return follows Laglyr’s player’s cursor and is visible to all parties. =If Laglyr hits a target that is channeling, the channel is broken upon returning. In the specific case of Anivia in her passive, the channel resumes from where it was before being hit. =The return does not Fear the original target, but Horrify will affect the original target through the application of Vanish. =Laglyr’s screech when activating Gobble Up is audible globally.

Quotes Selection “I can already taste them ...” Banned “I grow hungry. I grow hateful.” Movement =hovers forward unsteadily, sniffing at the air “I smell life. I hate it.” “I have grown ... fond of the taste.” “I rot. I must feed.” “Curse this hideous form.” “Curse this backwards plane!” “ sniffingAttacking =swipes with clawed hand, crits by grasping with the claw and then yanking backward “I hate you!” “Curse every one of you shambling mounds!” “Fresh flesh ...” “ snarlproccing Horrify “Rrrraaaaaaargh!” “Kreeeeeyaaaaah!” “You’re next!” Profane Outburst finishing channel “I’ll gut you like a struggling fish!” “Your children come next!” “I’ll use your skull as a bowl for your innards!” “I’ll peel you like a rotting grapefruit!” “I’ll make you watch as I chew off your fingers!” “I’ll hang you on a hook and drain out your fluids!” “You’ll feel my tongue in your lungs!” “Your skin will make a fine sack!” “They’ll find nothing but your scalp!” “You’ll feel my teeth behind your eyes!” “You’ll feel my fingers in your stomach!” Chase Downcackling ” “ hooting laughter ” “Come here!” “I’ll get you!” Strike, Strike “Rip, rip, shred!” “I’ll nick your bones!” Skreigh “Aaaaaaaach!” “Reeeeeeeee!” “Yaraaataaaaa!” “I HATE YOU!” Gobble Up on cast “Aaaahahahaha!” “Heeheeheeheehee!” “You’re mine!” Gobble Up while Vanishedwet crunchingGobble Up return “Tastes like FEAR!” “Now I just want MORE!” “HaaaaaRAAAGH!” Champion Kill “You’re lucky I don’t eat corpses.” “Waste of good meat.” Death =Laglyr claws at her head while her other arm falls off. She fitfully grabs her head and tears it off, ripping the hood of the robe with it, and drops it. She swipes at the air a few more times before collapsing in a heap. “ shrieking ” “Do you know how hard it is to find another body?!” “That’s it! YOU’RE next!”

Joke =Laglyr stretches her clawed hand and then opens her mouth skyward. She reaches her claw in to her her elbow and pulls out randomly a live frog, a Teemo mushroom, or a yordle ear. She chatters her teeth, dangling the object, and then throws it over her shoulder. “Hmmm ... hrrrgh ... rrrgh ... Ha! Had a frog in my throat!” “Hmmm ... huhuuu ... ragh? Ah, that’s not an edible mushroom, is it?” “Hmmm ... raragh ... rurrrah ... ah! Now that was a salty meal, let me tell you.”

Taunt =Laglyr leans forward, gaping her mouth, grabbing her lower jaw with her swollen hand and pulling it further open, swatting her head with her claw. “ screech ” “ cackling ” “ gurgling cough ” =taunting yordle “Hungryyyyyyyyyy!” “Feeeeeeeeeeeed!”

Dance =Laglyr drifts toward the ground. She grabs the front of her robe with both hands and lifts, revealing unusually shapely humanoid legs. She then begins performing a fast and energetic cancan, waving her head about with her mouth lolling open. “ singing the tune of the cancan section of Orphée aux enfers

Laugh =Laglyr holds her arms bent in a raptorial pose and throws her head backwards, laughing loudly. “Heeheeheeheeheeheehee!” “Aaaaahahahahahaha!” “Hoooooheeheeheehee!”

Strengths and Weaknesses Laglyr has a place as a midlaner thanks to her ability to waveclear with Strike, Strike, Skreigh and her kill pressure, especially with jungle assistance. However, she has few escapes, so she demands jungler attention to protect her from ganks in return, which may draw the game to play around the middle, to the detriment of losing lanes.

She can also function as a support, using her Profane Outburst to dissuade aggressive opponents from skirmishing and using her passive to help ensure lane priority. In such a role, however, she loses out on a lot of her damage and can only bring cc to fights.

Laglyr has to get up close and personal, but building damage means losing survivability. In many respects, she can be considered an assassin but with the purpose of cc instead of scoring a kill. This can put her in an awkward spot, and can make her difficult to play. She doesn’t have much in the way of combos, making her more reliant on auto attacks than the usual Mage. However, at any grade of disadvantage, her ult remains a useful and powerful tool, forcing a Zhonya’s when triggered or else removing a threat from the teamfight for a huge 3 seconds.

Skin Ideas =Arclight Laglyr Laglyr’s flesh is pure white, with golden claws and teeth and blue robes. Two downward blue horns jut from beneath the hood. Particle effects utilize light and feathers. When dancing, Laglyr’s feet have golden shoes.

=Nightmare Laglyr Laglyr’s robe is replaced for black, matted hair and her flesh is yellowed. Her head is a circular maw of teeth with a bone spike sticking out of the center. A pair of uneven antlers grow out around where the head meets the hair. Particle effects are a deep shade of liquid red. When dancing, her legs end in hands.

=Sour Apple Laglyr Laglyr’s robe is a dark blue and made of something like normal cloth, with reddish swirls at the sleeves and around the base. Her flesh is green, and her nose is fatter and less bony, and the mouth under it is small and lacking teeth. White hair hangs out of under the hood. Laglyr’s swollen hand is gone, and the arm ends in a shiny green apple. Her claws are striped like peppermint. When dancing, Laglyr’s legs are green and end in pointy red shoes. Different voice lines describing things tasting sour or sweet.

Issues =Numbers might be off. Never was my strong suit. =Pretty unattractive. There’s a reason they made Urgot less ugly. =Might not be waifu material. This is perhaps the most glaring issue.

Neat concept, but just a suggestion:

Can you space things out a bit more... by either

simply skipping lines or even through bold/italic.

These make reading much easier.

Extremly nice concept though, I haven't finished reading, but after that I'll give my most objective opionion.
