Greetings Summoners, Riot, and all members of the League of Legends community! I come to you with a new champion concept! Although Champions such as Kayle Kayle and Garen Garen fight for justice using their power, very few rely on the gods and goddeses of Valoran for strength. Today, I introduce you to a man whose power comes from The One, an ancient God of Creation.

All will hear His Will...

Or burn in His Holy Fire.

Julius: The Preacher of Salvation

Biography:

One night, in the streets of Demacia…

A young page bursts into an unknown cathedral at the brink of midnight. His clothes are tattered, trying to escape the knives of Noxian Assassins.

As he desperately slammed the sanctuary doors, he whirled around to check his surroundings. The room glowed with pristine light and filled the dark crevasses with warmth.

The boy shivered as he walked down the shining tabernacle, as he carried in his hands a sack of gold coins to feed his family. It was all he had left; his family was slowly dying.

As he trudged up the steps towards the majestic statue in the middle, he collapsed out of pain and exhaustion. He sobbed as he knelt down on the floor, hoping for a vestige of redemption.

“My child, why does ye doubt your soul?”

The boy shrieked in fear as he turned around. A mysterious priest, clad in the purest white of robes, slowly strode over to him, offering a hand to the trembling child.

The boy stumbled back towards the base of the statue. “Please, messir, don’t hurt me! I didn’t steal from here, I swear!”

The priest knelt down and gently swiped the purse from the boy’s trembling hands. “Yet, thou has committed to taking that which is not his. So, it matters not if you stole from here. You are a thief, either way.

The boy collapsed in sobs. “I-I’m so l-lost…My mother and father have the plague, my sister’s blind, and my older brother has lost an arm…I can’t pay the doctors, and they won’t help me…”

The room was filled with a chilling silence. The burning embers of the candle floated to the ground like leaves from a tree.

“The Noxians…They don’t deserve our money! All they do is take and steal! And, what does the Demacian government do about this? NOTHING!”

The boy burst into tears as he tucked his head into his knees. The priest gently lifted the boys head, and bought it up to his hooded gaze.

“Come, my son. There is no need for fear. For, all wounds heal over time, as it is His Will.”

“His…W-Will?”

The priest stood up. The sniffling boy looked up at the priest with desperate eyes.

“Dry your tears, young one, and listen well. On a midsummer’s eve, lay a baby boy, born to a simple family living in a prosperous forest far away from the city. They lived simple lives, inside a small cottage, and they were content with what they had.”

The boy remained silent, yet his ragged breathing echoed within the resounding halls of the temple. “However, evil came towards the little boy and thine family, and behold, the boy watched in sorrow as his mother and father was burned in the house he had so cherished.”

“My family used to live in a cottage once…We were so happy there…” The boy hiccupped.

“For three days and nights, the boy tried his best to live in the forest. But, he could not adapt to the world that he was born in, for when his parents died, he lost the will to live.”

The boy did his best to focus, but the tears kept coming down his face.

“A few years later, the boy grew into a young adult, and here he sat, on the streets of Demacia, begging for food and coin.”

“I guess I’m kinda like that boy…” The boy murmured…

“But, worry not, young one, for after another three days, the young boy came upon the sight of one of His Followers: A Priest.”

The boy swiped away his tears, and felt comfort in the priest’s words.

“The priest took in the boy in his service, and thus, the boy began to rediscover his purpose. And, through his rediscovery, he learned His Will.”

“I don’t understand…Who is He?”

The priest knelt down and caressed the boy’s cheek lightly.

“He is the One: the true creator of all beings on this Earth. He knows no hate, only love and guidance. And, His Will gives strength to those who believe…”

The boy sniffled as a few more tears fell down his face. “I want my family to be ok…We didn’t do anything wrong…”

The priest gently wiped away some of the boy’s tears.

“Young one, fret not. Through His Will, your sins are forgiven. Do not worry, for it is my duty to spread His Message and heal all of his Children he has placed on this troubled Earth.”

The boy grasped the priest’s hand with a tight grip. His young face was now streaming with tears. “How? How can one being stand up against many?”

The priest held the child in his arms and chuckled. In an instant, the child felt his sorrow fade away and his tears dry up. As the priest let go, the boy felt his hair ruffled by the priest’s hand.

“As my story goes, the boy did train with his brotherhood. Until one day, those that would raise up arms against our beliefs stood at our entrance. The priest’s faith in His Will waned at the sight of their massive army. Yet, one boy stood alone, in front of the entrance of His Sanctuary.”

“Oh, no…D-Did t-they….k-k-kill….-“

“Ah, young one, you need not be so afraid. As the enemy charged at the young priest, he rose his arms in the air. He gazed up at the sky, his belief in His Will so stronger than all of the other priests, and he called out to Him to smite down His Enemies. And, in a blinding flash, the young man was the only one in front of the temple. The enemy was defeated, and it was his belief that saved His Children.”

The boy gazed in awe at the priest as he rose up. “With just….one shout?”

The priest turned his head to the boy. “Nay, it was not his shout that drove the enemy away. It was his belief in His Will that saved his brethren. As he stood up against those who would bring ruin to others. He stood alone when no other would do so. Only a true believer in His Will would be blessed by His Holy Spirit.”

The boy trembled as he stood up, and the priest swiftly helped the boy to sit on the base of the statue.

“Behold, my child, I bring onto you a message from Him. Although His World is imperfect, and there are times our faith in His Plan wanes, always remember His Love gives us hope where it is needed. He gave you your family, He gave you your home, and He gave you to me to protect you from the evils that plague this Earth.”

The boy couldn’t believe his eyes. His little body began to shake with joy and happiness as he looked up at the priest.

The priest gently placed the boy’s money in his hands, and he folded them over the purse. “Thus, He says onto you, use this money to do goodwill onto your family, and when you come home, all members of your family will be well.”

The boy stood up nervously. He nervously uttered to the priest, “Kind s-sir, what happened to the boy?”

As the priest got up and started walking away, he stopped and turned around. “Why, young one. You look upon the same boy today.”

The priest slowly strode to the entrance to the temple. However, before he could exit, the boy knelt down and held up the purse in front of him. “P-Please, sir, I want to believe! I can n-never thank you enough for your kindness! This i-is rightfully yours! Please, teach me how to believe in His Will!”

The priest let out a cheerful chuckle, as he knelt down and placed his hands on the boy’s shoulders. The boy dropped the purse on the ground, and bombarded him with a tight hug. “Ah, my child, do not be quick to make rash decisions in his name. To do fully understand His Will, you must learn from my experience. Will you do that?”

“I will.”

“Will you give up your earthly possessions and follow Him?”

“I will.”

‘Will you stand against the forces of the darkness, even when you stand alone?”

“I will.”

“And, no matter what happens, even until the end, will you preach the teachings of His Will until the end?”

“I will!”

The priest gently put the boy down on the ground. He then removed his hood, revealing a young face, pure and kind, who smiled down upon the boy.

“Then, come with me, my young one. For, I, Julius, welcome all those who believe the power of His Will.”

Champion Reveal

Come hither, ye Summoners of Light and Justice! Behold the man who hath the fury and strength of the being they call The One! He fights not with weapons of destruction, nor magical powers of utter chaos! Nay, within this man, lies the holy energies that are deprived from the impermeable teachings of His Will! For thine wrath is so powerful, thou enemies will cower in fear and run back into the darkness hence they came from. Heed his words, carefully, Summoners! Julius, The Preacher of Salvation, shouts his holy gospel upon the forces of Darkness, Chaos, and Death on the Fields of Justice!

Julius is a ranged DPS mage who uses the power of His Will, derived from the divine being called The One, to bathe his foes in holy fire and scorching catharsis. He is the Prime Holy Patriarch of Demacia, who is dedicated to spreading The Will of The One to all corners of Valoran. However, with the Sands of Shurima blowing in, the servants of the Shadow Isles darkening the streets, and the brutal Noxus slowly approaching for world domination , Julius has no fear, as he stands against any evil force that dares impede the words of The One. Utilizing a variety of crowd control abilities coupled with an awesome, transcending ultimate, Julius is a must have for teams that require a champion with good CC effects. His downside, however, is that in replacement of his high crowd control effects, is his very high mana expenditure, as he will need to control his mana costs very efficiently during battle.

Gameplay Examples

For Julius, mana is a key priority in his features. Mage Champions, such as Swain or Ryse, have low mana-costing spells that allow the champion to use these spells more efficiently. However, in the case of Julius, with his hard-hitting spells, comes at a very high mana cost. Julius is a high-risk, high-reward champion that effectively pays off on every precise spell cast on his opponents. By implementing higher mana costs early game with a scanty mana gaining passive, players are forced to time their spells at the right moment for the maximum level of damage. However, Julius’s abilities are easy to pick up at after a few tries, so, Summoners can get used to the duration and power of his abilities.

While laning, Julius tends to build up mana while staying behind his minion wave. Try to last hit minions frequently to regain mana and increase your mana capacity. Using spells at early levels will leave your mana bar empty and unable to fight against aggressive opponents. At Level 3 or Level 4, Summoners can try to be more aggressive in lane by harassing opponents with Cry of Condemnation. The slow can effectively hinder enemy champion’s escapes, and the spell can deal tons of damage to minions, making last hitting more easily. Be careful when facing champions with shields or barriers, such as Yasuo or Morgana. Hitting a Yasuo behind his Wind Wall with a basic attack only wastes mana, so try not to him to conserve mana. Instead, wait until the barrier dissipates, then continue harassing the opponent.

When going in for the kill, follow these simple instructions. Use Arbiter of Agony to stun the champion and prevent him from escaping. Try to impale them at the point impact of the cross to deal extra damage. This move is also great for escapes as well. Activate Shield of Salvation to safeguard against any surprise ganks. Be sure to ward in the two bushes for more vision. Then, while the champion is stunned, use Cry of Condemnation and your basic attacks to finish for the kill. If caught between ganks, use Shield of Salvation to cancel out the Crowd Control Effects of the Jungler and stun the ganking Champions with Arbiter of Agony.

One essential Item to Julius is the Buff of The Ancient Golem! The Ancient Golem effectively increases Mana Regeneration for Julius to use his spells more frequently. If chance permits, always ask your Jungler for a permission to use the Blue Buff. If they are willing to give it over, your mana will quickly regenerate over time. If your jungler is still in need of buffs, it is always a viable option to stack up on Mana Charms, which increase mana regeneration. However, upgrade out of those charms to a Chalice of Harmony for better mana regeneration. Upgrade the Chalice to an Athene’s Unholy Grail as soon as possible.

In teamfights, Julius is a nightmare for teams that are grouped in. Arbiter of Agony’s range has enough space to stun three champions for a short period of time. To initiate a fight, always cast Arbiter of Agony on the most important target, such as the ADC. Julius’s ultimate, The Revelation of Reckoning, is viable for most of his team fights. Not only does it provide extra movement speed and health regeneration for champions located close to Julius, the splash damage of Julius’s basic attacks can hit all opponents of the enemy team if they are grouped too close. Try to stay between your teammates for protection and make sure to hit as many champions as possible for the maximum effect.

Doom Bots Mode

Infused with the divine power of The One, Julius can be seen as a God to all champions. In Doom Mode, Julius’s passive is not only untargetable, he simply regains mana by hitting minions and all of his attacks deal splash damage. Julius’s Shield of Salvation can now be cast on any champion within a 4750 Range, and the shield blocks enemy spells as well. The Cry of Condemnation is amplified, now dealing stun instead of slows. However, it is further increased through the Arbiter of Agony, where if a Cry of Condemnation passes through an Arbiter of Agony, the projectile splits into three smaller projectiles, dealing magic damage and stun. This useful trick can be used by both allied and enemy Juliuses, in order to make the laning experience fairer when doing a mirror match. Luckily, Julius’s Revelation of Reckoning received no change, but Julius’s size during the ultimate has increased 200%.

Champion Actions:

Taunts:

Julius closes his Bible of The Will, and lets out a vibration of holy energy from his body, signaling his holy power The One bestowed upon him.

Joke:

Julius takes out a feathered pen, opens towards an empty verse, and begins to chronicle the origins of Summoner’s Rift and Valoran in his Bible of The Will.

Dance:

Julius dances in similar fashion to the opening act of the Broadway Play, “The Book of Mormon”, written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Julius whistles the opening act’s tune (Hello!) while jigs on to the opening act.

Recall:

Julius points across towards his audience, and motions around them, signaling to believe in The Will of The One. After a few moments of preaching, he closes his Bible and raises his right hand in the air, up towards The One.

Death:

Julius drops his Bible, and is suddenly lifted up in the air. The energies of The One leave him, and his body arches upward as it releases the final vestiges of holy energy. After that, Julius simply drops to the ground, dead.

Respawn:

Julius rematerializes in holy light, as his Bible descends from the heavens. He catches it with both hands, before taking it in his left hand, and opening towards a fresh verse.

Wow, I am blown away by the effort put into this!

With all the religious references though I don't think this could get into the League, but I want you to know I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Only real balance concern of mine is that the mana gained through The Words of his Will might be a bit high (1950), but otherwise everything looks good.

I really liked the story. Very well written. :)

As for the kit, I feel like your making some abilities a bit overly complex (like the passive for example and it's interaction with walls). Also, I'm not sure what kind of niche he is supposed to fill.

The religious references are kind of too heavy for this to make into League.

Nevertheless, cool abilities! And good ammount of work put into it.

I have to ask though! Did you do the art yourself? It's super cool

Hey, I've been looking at this concept for awhile and I just wanted to say something. I love the move-set you got on this champ, I do feel as if the "E" should be like a magical cross that maybe knocks up and slows enemies around you. On the flip side I come from a family of a firm believers of Jesus so I'm not sure how I feel about putting a story about what I believe to be real in a game. But if it's God's will, I'd love to play this champ!

Been awhile since I came back to this thread, but this is one of the best concpets I've seen by a fan so I just want people to read. I feel like some of the moves could be tweaked though. Let me know if you want my insight!
