@Riot, @Fans, Let's all stop arguing and Rebuild Lore TOGETHER!

Let's face it, guys. Arguing isn't going to get us anywhere.

I've seen the great content that both sides have posted throughout the Forums and all in the Boards! Riot can do the same too, with all these reworks and all. But, does it really make sense when we start to demand at their doorstep, and asking for what we want! I know Riot has a lot to deliver over the years, and believe me, how I desperately wish for Lore to be rebuilt from the ground up. Both sides can learn from this transaction, and it wouldn't hurt to give credit where it actually is needed.

Here's what I see today with Lore.

On one side, we have the Riot employees, who are consistently at work, and trying to meet the demands of the customer. Not just for Lore too as well! They also have other updates to be cranking out, such as the PBE, where most of the reworks are put up for testing, and we, The Players, give our personal feedback on the content being provided. With a huge number of priorities on their hands, Lore is something they sometimes have to sacrifice to make the game better for the players. Don't get me wrong, lore is an important aspect of the game. It is just that Riot is prioritizing for their main issues they have to address, and sometimes, they have to make decisions that might not work well for us players, but it would also help make playing the game a whole lot better.

But, is that a good enough excuse for us?

Not necessarily. I've had my fair share of time on the Boards and Forums, and I've seen stellar content about specific champion concepts, lore reworks, and new content created by a wide variety of players that deserve to be in the League of Legends (Flintfall, The Neverworld, Yousosmart, to name a few.) However, at such a long time ago, Riot promised the players to deliver us a fully, innovative, fully-constructed lore that would tie the all of the Champions and the Factions in Runeterra together, to create a living, interactive story that connects us with the Game. But, Riot responded by just tearing down the Institute of War, and making the League of Legends simply a name, rather than a real place. No greater harm could come to Lore by tearing down the place that it was revolved around. To me, I thought it was just a foolish move on their part, and there could have been more to be done to prevent it.

Yet, this doesn't mean this: Lore is Dead.

Lore is NOT dead. It still lives today, even though we still see it as an incomplete web of intricate detail with no proper cohesion to tie it all together. We see it in the Boards, where people post new ideas to champion concepts and lore reworks. We see it in the game itself, where biographies of the champions still give us a bit of detail about the character we play as. We all have our own mistakes; but, we must strive to overcome it. Even though this "Lore retcon" is going on, this doesn't give us the chance to just boycott Lore entirely. We have to nurture it; let our creative ideas flow through our veins and onto the Boards and other sources of social media, where both Riot and other Players can take a look at the content we both created?

So, what do we do to fix it?

Keep posting lore ideas and making new concepts to old lores. Give feedback on changes Riot is making. If you think the time is now to make a bold statement, let your voice be heard. Come up with suggestions that can help assist Riot employees with making the Lore better. I'm not promising you they will look, but, other players will see your idea, and make your voice louder for all people to hear. As for Riot, LISTEN TO YOUR FANS. I know you're all busy and everything, but even one small look can make a idea become the greatest thing that has happened on League of Legends! Don't be afraid to voice your input, upvotes and downvotes don't matter! They all tell you something that gives an impact on this community.

Remember, we can do this if we work together. And, together, we can accomplish anything!

Give feedback on changes Riot is making.

We've been doing this. We never stopped.

If you think the time is now to make a bold statement, let your voice be heard.

The bold statements have been made pretty much weekly here?

What exactly is the message of this thread? Community, continue like you've been doing, Riot, start communicating? Or is it that we should just accept the retcon and work along with Riot? Is it perhaps that we should try to contain the damage the retcon is causing?

Personally, with Riots current attitude of retconning happily along for their own reasons and not bothering to argue with/listen to the community, retconning anything and everything *they *dislike, I'd vote for abandoning the lore. Perhaps leave it to the side for pretty stand-alone comics and animations. My favorite champion already got deleted entirely, why should I still care? Why should I get a new favourite character and let Riot hurt me again by retconning that one too? But I seem to be part of a minority here, many others seem to be entirely fine with the possiblity of Riot having deleted their favorite character for a new one and announcing it tomorrow.

Edit: I might sound a bit harsh here, sorry about that. I'm actually wondering the point the OP is trying to make. Next to that I thought I should add my own feeling about lore, as to why I am not just moving on past the retcon.

No.

I know I sound like a dick, but tbh they don't care about our opinion so... yeah

Good on you for trying though. You're the kind of person I wish worked in the lore team

Someone else made a similar thread, but still good words, sir.

I want to agree with you, I really do. I'm generally fond of optimism and trusting the creators of a product to do good by their fans. But Riot's lore team is one of the few exceptions to that. They give us years of silence and then break it with a statement of 'everything you ever did to make up for our lack of lore is now wrong.'

I want to believe. But I can't.

I'm always suprised about people caring about lore in a MOBA. Seems to me like it would be like playing CoD for the amazing thrill of the campaign.

RIto's "lore" team fucking hates the community and only negatively changes the lore from their own discretion and does nothing with it. Sooner or later some random ass champion is going to come out and now every older champion and their grandma is somehow connected to it via no reason or lore changes. Rito's lore team doesn't care so why should i.

The problem is that Riot could care less about what we think of the lore. (Kind of like how they could care less about what we think of a certain poison mage, or a blind monk.)
