Ivern should be part of the Kinkou order
He isn't a ninja but he DOES live in Ionia and keep the balance in that forest

The Kinkou order is a shadow government formed by Ionians in order to protect their own ideals of balance.
Ivern's part of something much older and dare I say much bigger than that. He's no secret agent serving a shadowy triad in the name of some human ideal of balance, he is a literal force of nature, albeit a benevolent one.
That and last I checked the Kinkou can only have three operatives in its Triumvirate at any given time, and all those slots are already taken.
