Cyan, Scrivener of Light
**Lore **
Born to a family trying to pick up the ruins of the war, Cyan was never a child of particular note. His parents both lost people closest to them. They showered him with unbound nurture and love, hoping he'd fill the void left in their hearts. Though Cyan was never the brightest or strongest or the most clever, he never disappointed them. Like all the other kids in Ionia, he learned that the world teetered on a scale, and in all things, balance must be attained.
Curiosity was the one thing that set him apart. He thirsted for knowledge and sought solutions to questions unasked. Everyday after lessons, he would hideaway in his village's library, the Kutphuna, until night fell and his worried parents called him in. Fascinated by all the wonderful books, like shards of truth of the world, he read and consumed everything. Like a story or like a game, each constructed another truth. Once he could read it all, it would be as if the world were locked in confines of his imagination. He would journal all of his most interesting finds in his personal diary to take with him everywhere.
Eventually, Cyan came across stories of Viktor and Heimerdinger and Ziggs - inventors who found their way. They inspired him to create his own trinkets. He locked himself away in the basement of Kutphuna and toiled away at all his failures. It was merely a hobby, one at which he wasn't very good. His lessons at school would sometimes spark inspiration, but it wasn't until he started practicing Ionian magic that he had his first breakthrough. He would adhere to his most rudimentary principal. Balance.
Breakthrough after breakthrough, he developed toys and trinkets. But soon another truth of the world would reveal itself: it is as cruel as the people that make it up. After hearing about recent Noxian attacks in surrounding villages, Cyan began developing defense and surveillance technology. He wanted to be able to warn his family if danger were to come their way. Then he had his biggest idea yet: he would build an eye in the sky. A system so sophisticated, it could peer at the entire continent like a god. The towers and drones he had created would send energy to the apparatus to keep it in orbit - and a little bit of his own peculiar lightning magic. He built it in secret - sending parts and energy to it with his network of scattered drones.
When the day finally came, Cyan was more than prepared. The project was a success. The Skyline Scryer detected a march on their lands long before the Noxians reached the village. The people looked on in amazement as Cyan set up his beacons around the borders. Drones buzzed like an agitated hive, hundreds of them swirling in circuit. It appeared everything was going according to plan. He had more than enough force to compete with the advancing army. All he needed was a single zap of his magic to boot everything up. However, while the system repelled the army, along with Ionian troops on the ground, Cyan retreated to his base of operations in haste. He made a critical error in oversight. All the activity was sending a massive amount of energy to the Scryer, immeasurably more than it was built to handle! In a frenzy, Cyan did all he could to divert the energy. In a last ditch effort, he did the last thing he wanted to do - he turned the Scryer's gaze toward the enemy. The land is forever scarred where there used to be beautiful trees and lakes of serene grace. Not even a trace of blood is left of that battle. When the Scryer finally exhausted all of its energy, the contraption fell to earth, destroying the Kutphuna and all its treasured knowledge with it.
Fearing his failure and the punishment of the Storm, Cyan fled, taking with him all his technology.
He decided to travel, visit as many libraries as he possibly can. Where ever his travels took him, he exacted balance, hoping that the Eye would see him and withhold judgement.
Eventually, he perfected his Scryer and renamed it the Scrivener, for from the heavens, he would write destiny into the very land itself.
Cyan is a manager mage who focuses on balancing his defensiveness with offense. He's my take on the Heimer/Zyra archetype. His Power Beacons are the source of most of his damage, both on summon and turret shots. Therefore, placement and timing of Arclight is important to activating and firing multiple Power Beacons, as well as using Arclight field to snare and the Power Beacon's moment of invulnerability to pull of a good ult. He functions as a support and potentially root multiple people as well as give his lane partner a movement speed buff if Cyan plays it right. He can also deal poke damage once he can safely autoattack and direct turrets shots more efficiently.
Passive: **Retrocharge ** When an ability hits a target, charges a percent of Skyline. At 100%, can expend all charge to activate Skyline Scrivener. Range and % ap scaling on autoattacks increase with more Retrocharge.
0 - (10/25/30/40%) AP scaling at 0-100% Skyline at lv 0/6/11/16. 30s CD
0 - 650 range at 0- 100% Skyline
Q: **Power Beacon ** Summon a light beacon in an area, dealing damage. Powers down and becomes destructible after five seconds or two turret shots. Turret shots prioritize targets Cyan has autoattacked. Disappears after thirty seconds.
Cost: 35 mana Cooldown: 12/10/8/7/6 Summon Damage: Turret Damage: Field Max: 2/3/4/5/6
W: **Arclight ** Target an enemy or a Power Beacon. If an enemy, deal damage and stun for .25 seconds. If a Power Beacon, dispatch a field of electricity for five seconds that adds 15% ability power to allies and 20% movement speed. Deals DoT. Power Beacon will fire a turret shot at the nearest enemy in Arclight. Energizes inactive Power Beacons that are in Arclight's field.
Cost: 100 Cooldown: 25/23/20/18/15 Damage (spread over the duration if aoe):
E: Scout Scavenger Send a roaming drone out that reveals a small area for only Cyan. Can only Roam a certain distance within Power Beacons and Cyan himself, extended while on Arclight. Recast E to control it; otherwise, it sentries. If it finds an enemy, it will attempt to attach itself, revealing them for 5 seconds, then exploding. Roots and detonates in an aoe immediately if the enemy is in Arclight. Destructible after .5 seconds.
Cost: 60 and 1 Scout Cooldown: 23/18/15 Damage: Field Max: 1/2/3
R: Skyline Scrivener Call down a powerful laser on a Power Beacon or Cyan. Deals extreme aoe damage. If Arclight is active on the spawn target, Recast to move it slowly in a direction. (is technically available at level 1) A short channel before the laser spawns. Does not charge Skyline.
Cost: 100 Skyline and 300 Cooldown: 0 Damage: 200/250/325 + .9ap dps for 5 seconds, updating every .25s
Cyan is an Ionian Inventor mage who channels the power of the stars as the power source for his creations. Hates: Camille, Vi, Jinx, Jayce. Admires: Heimerdinger, Viktor, Zigg, Caitlyn.
A few quotes. Also, read in Mithos' voice from Tales of Symphonia.
When ulting: "I'm, as they say, firing my laser. Watch out."
When ult collides with Lux's: "Don't cross the streams!" "We're crossing streams! ....Let's observe this phenomenon."
When lux ult misses. <cheekily> "....You missed."
When a light elemental Lux is battling and Cyan ults: "Ray! .......I don't know why I said that, not sure what came over me."
When Summoning a Power Beacon: "Let's shed some light on this conundrum."
Taunt: "You are cloaked in darkness. Let me illuminate you." "Magic. Science. Balance. Don't ask how it works."
