Lu Zho, the Memory of a Shattered World

Background: Once a noble fighter during Runeterra's ancient times, Lu Zho was slain during the Rune Wars long ago. Now, with the Black Mist spreading to Valoran once more, his spirit was corrupted and forced to obey, even in death. Hunting the living in an endless rampage, Lu Zho spreads the message of the Shadow Isles to those who try to resist - neverending torment, both through twisted black magic and expertise in the art of fighting.

Lore: I can see it. A glorious battle. I remember the footmen charging through the horseriders, trying to secure the breach. Whether they got trampled, or they managed to kill their enemy, it didn't matter. Not to them. For them, victory can cost everything, including their lives. And it still wouldn't matter to them. Our World Rune was safe, that was all that mattered.

I remember the sleepless nights after every battle. How we drank, sitting round a table. Everything was so simple. The memories of countless songs echo in my mind. I remember scribbling up a letter to send to my family. I could say a thousand words, yet could only write as much as one sheet of paper could let me write.

We protected the World Rune which was kept in the center of our kingdom. That's all that mattered. Keeping the powerful artifact at bay. But one day, something big happened. The scouts alarmed us of intruders breaching the gates. They were all alone, only two of them. I thought to myself, these fools dare to try to attack us all by themselves? I pity them. But boy I was so wrong...

Once I heard a powerful blast of energy exploding in the distance, I knew they were up to no good. We were dispatched immediately to defend against the invaders. They told us they claimed to want the World Rune. After we attacked them, their arcane powers started pummeling through the soldiers.

After I had seen the invaders, I shouted at them. They demanded we let go of the rune. But whether I got killed or I managed to kill them, it wouldn't matter. Not to me. For us, victory costs everything, including our lives. As a commander of the legion, I had to take up to our enemy. All that it mattered at this very moment was that what was ours was safe.

Charging at them, I felt my legs were unable to move. I was incapacitated, watching my legion getting vanquished one by one. I felt hopeless. But then it hit me, I had to do something. With the power of my will, I managed to resist the arcane prison. Once I was free, I continued my attack, striking them with my spear. That left a mark on one of them, but it wasn't enough. It certainly wasn't enough.

Then I saw it. A bright arc of arcane energy, coming closer, and closer. I don't remember what happened next. After a very long period of silence, I heard a song again. I could see again. A mist. Corpses rising from the ground. Souls twisted and corrupted. I see a darkness beneath me... It's all clear now. Now, I know the true purpose of this world. The songs, the nights, it is all gone. The memories of the past must be forgotten, for the true fate of Lu Zho lies ahead.

Gameplay: Lu Zho is a specialist focused on keeping enemies clumped together, both through deadly bursts of damage and menacing crowd control. With his large amount of AoE damage and high survivability, Lu Zho excels at getting in and out of battles effortlessly, and thrives in punishing his enemies in large fights. His Mist's Reach can be used to spread enemies apart from each other in an effort to divide and conquer them one by one. If they do manage to clump together, Lu Zho's basic abilities will punish them severely for that mistake.

The champion concept is really cool! Here are some thing I feel like I should point out though.

  1. Touch of corruption is the name of the passive on Corrupting Potion item 2033. Probabaly needs a new name as a result :(

  2. I could be crazy, but these numbers feel a smidge high on Damage. Not like out of this world abusive or anything, but this champion does make me think of a mix of Brand and Lissandra. Like, if his ult does 35% of the damage over again, he’s either going to flatten everything, or be extremely ult reliant. Though I haven’t run the numbers through a calculator. I could absolutely be insane.

I like it a lot! Reading his kit this time it felt balanced and reasonable. I liked the inclusion of higher shield for each enemy hit, giving him a team fighting identity on top of all the rest of his kit. Biggest change I like is that he is target-able during his ult now. It gives the enemies at least a little bit of hope to fight back, and it lets the Ability be stronger to compensate.

Good job! Also love the Lore! Not sure if the Person who stormed the Gates was Mordekaiser or someone else, but either way I felt like the story was engaging and the world place of the champ interesting. A ghost of the rune wars come back to haunt the world is pretty compelling.
