Spirius, Wielder of Guardians [Champion Concept]
Today I chose this fate. Tomorrow is a brand new day. - Spirius, Wielder of Guardians, joins the CCOS competition along with his two most trusted allies and guardians - Vasul, the Merciful and Emrin, the Vigilant. This unique champion brings a whole new meaning to supporting - being a Warden AND an Enchanter in one. Take a look at his lore, abilities, playstyle, statistics or quotes below!
Overview: https://i.imgur.com/y9f9tzr.png *I do not claim the art to be mine, this art is used as a overall idea of what Spirius would look like. This art is official to Vainglory's Flickr character and I do not mean to claim it as my own.
Playstyle: Spirius is a unique specialist support who harnesses the power of two godlike guardians to become a tough Warden or a supportive Enchanter. He shares most of the effects of the abilities between the two forms, but with small differences that shape up what his kit should be. For starters, invoking Vasul will make his abilities heal for more, and grant buffs like movement speed, shields and heals over time to the team, while invoking Emrin instead will provide your allies a tanky frontliner who is not scared to take a beatdown and would gladly disable the enemies and bring them hell with a plethora of slows, silences and stuns.
In the early game, Spirius can utilize all three support items with his two forms, taking either Spellthief's Edge or Ancient Coin for Vasul and Relic Shield for Emrin. The versatile build paths makes up for a very fun champion even after dozens of games, something which would particularly attract people to Spirius. His playstyle also varies, being both frontline and backline, depending on the invoked guardian.
In teamfights, Spirius, the Vigilant is an excellent engager using Chosen's Light, Eternal Flight and Celestial Intervention, while Spirius, the Merciful is adept at keeping his teammates alive, again using the same abilities, but in a different way. His primary weaknesses include vulnerability to crowd control in both forms, and excessive kiting for the Vigilant Spirius and targeting down in teamfights for the Merciful.
Lore: Once upon a time, Vasul and Emrin were two brothers of a noble family, living in ancient Bilgewater, while still under full control of the Kraken-god, Nagakabouros. While the family was forced into slavery and taxes, the brothers quicky developed a sense of selflessness, and began helping other families that were struck by the cold stares of the worshippers of the bearded lady. They were renowed as local heroes and soon, people were praying for them to come to their aid.
They were rebels, fighting for a thought-to-be lost cause. Everyday, they would look at the stars and wonder if they could achieve the unachiavable and travel the universe, together. When they were young, their mother would constantly tell them the tale of Mount Targon and the celestial wonders lying at the top. The brothers have already chosen their fates.
Climbing Mount Targon was no easy task, as it quickly took a toll on them. The chilling frostbite and freezing air quicky deteriorated their health, as they couldn't advance further. When they finally passed out, they woke up high above the sky, with a strange light shimmering above them.
"Vasul and Emrin. You have a choice. Your heroic deeds have granted you immortality. You will recieve powers beyond your imagination. You two can finally achieve what you wanted to, together. To do that, though, you must leave your human bodies behind, and become celestial spirits, protecting the universe from destruction and the catastrophies. Otherwise, you will return back to Bilgewater, and you will not remember what has happened." That was not a choice for them, as it was clearly destined for them to become something better. Something that could not only help many, but to be worshipped to, be the better gods, one which do not harm others, and inspire love and loyalty.
Waking up, they could no longer feel their limbs. They were now just pure energy, going through the cosmos. They immediately knew what they must do. Going back to Bilgewater a few years later, they encounter a civil war between the rebels and the Nagakabouros followers. With a single thought, they instantly banished the baddies into their own island. They will now no longer enslave the commonfolk - but destroying them would not make them different. Vasul and Ermin, although no longer human, still understand human language and emotions. They do not want to cause unnecessary pain.
Over the course of centuries did the brother gods create a legacy worth thousands of years. But soon, the bearded lady returned, with one particular worshipper that harnessed the power of the kraken god itself. They destroyed shrines, broke spines and dominated the peaceful, urging Vasul and Emrin to return to their homeland once again. The Nagakabouros waged war among the commoners yet again.
While the raids continued to occur throughout Runeterra, the legacy of the brother gods soon began to vanish. Few would dare to follow the path of good and many instead searched for a god which was strong and inspired strength. Vasul and Emrin did not like this change of seasons. They began invoking their power within chosen followers, making them hosts. Immense power ran through them, as they were tasked with protecting the innocent and harming any heretic that dared to vandalize any shrine - regardless of god, again.
One of the followers was different from any other. An ancient yordle seeking after food stumbled upon a lost shrine. Humans did not percieve yordles as strong or tough, as their glamour easily fooled them. But Vasul and Emrin quickly understood that the little one was special. Naming him Spirius and making him the main host of their chosen ones, they rewarded him with a magical glimmering lantern, where they can easily communicate, Spirius was soon flying through the stars. The lantern's glow was only matched by the light in his eyes, ready to obey his newfound gods and protect those in need of aid.
