Swain's not getting his Dragon Master skin in 2016 now...

After 3+ years of people watching and waiting for it, the Dragon Master skin won't be coming in 2016 now. As a very casual, un-ranked, somewhat decent Swain main, this obviously makes me a bit let down, but life goes on. item 3070

I just wanted someone, however, to answer a simple question: why hasn't Swain gotten any love? I won't point fingers at certain champions (cough Annie Ekko Teemo cough), but there seems to be a lot of "playing favorites" going on in the skin department. Some have plenty of skins, yet they get more, but people have been silently waiting for the Master Tactician to get some love for quite a long while. I just hope that we won't have to wait even LONGER for something to happen. And I understand that, in a very business-like way, it's all about supply-and-demand, and "even if you guys knew of a skin that's on the drawing board, you couldn't let us know about it because reasons," but please...

Can someone explain this little [rather blurry] picture? It's from the Sion teaser way back when. It's obviously Swain, but he looks a little different and his cane is now a rather tall staff. Hmmm...

Swain is one of those who is begging for some kind of partial upgrade. they wont do anything aesthetic for him until they have problems fixed for him. Similar to the DT trist skin, they shelved it until the vu was completed.

because they didn't have to redo any animations for the skins. They were only required to reskin the pillars. His animations were never changed. Tristana's entire kit was reskinned and that is what they have said they were thinking of doing to swain.

They said that his animations are a tad rigid and his kit's a little rusty, but that they weren't going to do a large rework or anything extreme. Not saying it wouldn't be tedious or anything, but I dunno. 3+ years is a long time to sit back and then suddenly decide that he's rigid and his kit's wonky, and then potentially also nerf that W of his. Fingers are still crossed though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Riot just has a vendetta against dragons, hence all the dragon slayer skins and Ao Shin being effectively shelved indefinitely.

Well,Swain isn't alone here. Cassiopeia,Sion & Kennen have been waiting years for a new skin.Hell,Sion had to wait for his VU & is still waiting after a year. And before anyone says anything:Yorick Urgot &Taric are schedule for a VU.Poppy VU should be going live in the next few days.I'm not counting them. Anyway,there's probably a few other champs not scheduled for a VU who have been waiting years for a new skin that I forgot.

Nope, he's sadly not alone in the "department of neglected skins." But I don't know if Cassio and Kennen have had to wait over 3 years like Swain! I haven't checked, myself.

And hell, all of Poppy's skin splash arts are getting redone too, and we still have old Sion's crappy art for his skins!

Trist still has her old ones too. To be fair, they look closer to the current model than Poppy's, but it still seems weird. A lot of them are 'meh' quality at best.

Well,Cassio's last skin was released early 2013 I believe & Kenny's last skin was released in 2011.So they have been waiting for a while.

At this point I think a hope for this skin is really dim. I only expect that he would get his VU and Gameplay updates next year.

It would be very disappointed If they are making a new skin which is not DM for him but better than nothing.

I'm sorry, but I despise that skin. Not as much as Subterranean Nautilus though. XD

I've only been playing League for a year now, so I haven't heard about that concept till now!

The thing that bugged me was that there WAS Riot support for the DM Swain skin. There was even a super fan working at Riot HQ supporting the idea! And I haven't really heard people being like "OMG NEW SWAIN SKIN PLZ" like some of the other people with their mains.

The Grand General of Noxus needs love too. :'(

I used to play a lot of Swain, but put off getting Tyrant since I had hopes that Dragon Master was coming eventually. Now that I don't play him as much, I don't consider buying it worth the RP, regardless of how cool it looks.

...I don't understand. It's canon. As far as I can remember it's the only skin that is explicitly canon. It has unique green spell effects. It's fantastic.

I mean, if you don't play that much Swain anymore, then yeah. Probably not worth it. But c'mon... gotta admit, it's pretty magnificent.

Get Tyrant! It's a bit costly, but seeing as how they went to the efforts of getting rid of his limp and making a skin that, like KoM said, was canon, it's awesome!

Maybe! It'd be difficult to make Swain's model turn into a dragon, as well as having special particles. I think that's why people want it to be a legendary or ultimate skin. You can't just half-ass being a freaking DRAGON!

One thing that has been bugging me for a while now: A few updates ago, Riot added a set of centered splashes to the game files in preparation for the new Champion Select system they are currently testing. Amongst the many splash arts were a small number of new ones, most prominently (and awesomely) a brand new one for Swain. Since then, however, they haven't so much as mentioned it again.

What makes me curious is, if they have a completed splash from which to make a centered version, what is stopping them from releasing it? More specifically, are they simply waiting for the new system to be fully in place first, or is there something more to it? And if it happens to be tying in with something else they have planned for him, what could it be?

At any rate, here's hoping something good is headed our way for the Master Tactician and his fine feathered friend, and sooner rather than later! Swain

Well, in lore Swain is the emperor of Noxus following a storyline in the old Journal of Justice where he and LeBlanc staged a coup. So maybe they are just biding their time until they can do for him what they did for Miss Fortune and Gangplank and build a whole event around it.

Azir is the emperor of Shurima, Swain is the Grand General of Noxus. Nitpicky, yes. But still.

I don't see a Noxus event happening any time soon. If anything, it'll be set in another smaller city-state, like Piltover.
