Qualifying Solo-Queue Idea

TLDR: A queue (solo or multi-premade -- haven't made up my mind, but it's kinda trivial) where you choose roles AFTER you are assigned a team in champ select, and one player who selects a specific role is randomly selected to take it. The players who didn't get a role remain role-less and select from the remaining roles which one they would like to play. This repeats until all the roles are filled, and champion select progresses as normal from there.

Dear Riot,

  1. I'm just thinking of a way to have something aligning with solo queue while having the benefits of dynamic queue that you (Riot) have mentioned in the video/article recently posted. I think that I have come up with a very good idea that most people will like:

  2. You get into a new queue. I'm still torn as to the maximum amount of people allowed in a premade but let's say it's a purely solo queue, but really this could be a remake of dynamic queue as well.

  3. You DO NOT select a role, and simply click that you want to queue up. 5 people are chosen to have equal mmr for both teams, giving the most equal game possible for the moment that everyone queued. All 10 players accept the match and get put into champ select.

  4. At this point, you select your main role; I would say that you should have 7-15 seconds to choose, as this is not a hard decision. Maybe give 5 seconds for first role, 10 secs for 2nd role, and 15 secs for roles after that. (Perhaps chat may or may not be enabled so that you can write to try to convince your teammates which role you want, but if this is too toxic, then chat can be disabled at this point)

  5. Everyone who selects a single role is put into a pool, and one name is chosen. This person is assigned that role, and the rest of the players remain role-less. At this point in champ select, at least 2 roles SHOULD be decided, but really it doesn't matter if only one is decided. (In some ways your selections in previous games could have an impact on whether you get your first role, but true randomness is also a possibility)

  6. Once again the remaining roles are shown in front of you and a player chooses the role that is left that they prefer the most. Once again if/when there are conflicts, they are chosen randomly -- again if you didn't get the role you selected, you remain role-less.

  7. This same method repeats until everyone gets a role, or the final person is assigned a role.

  8. Then, champ select progresses as normal with roles assigned.

To make sure that the toxicity of the queue is reduced, I would also recommend a way that if a player is reported unanimously in a solo queue environment, that the queue is cancelled and the person reported is given a temporary queue ban. This functionality should be disabled before any champions are selected/banned as to avoid people reporting just for dodging purposes (but at the same time, this doesn't make too much sense).

Personal Appeal:

The reason that I would really like this form of champion select is that I do enjoy playing support and other roles, and I believe that I am indeed good at them. However in the current dynamic queue, I feel like if I choose an option that contains support at all, FILL or SUPPORT, I get it 95% of the time (in fact, I tried it). If I am given support randomly, or I choose it from the remaining set of roles, I would feel much more satisfied with getting the role because I selected it AND (ideally) everyone else chose roles that they watched/wished to play (the same as dynamic queue).

Personally, I feel like support is my 2nd/3rd best role, so although I would not select it in the first round of my proposed queue, I would be considering selecting it one the 2nd/3rd go around.

In dynamic queue, I am totally confined to my main role, adc. I am forced to select adc/mid every time I queue up because that gives me the highest opportunity to get my role. Even if wait times are longer, I don't care, and I just want to play adc (if I have a choice).

Argument against Dynamic Queue and the increased "Teamwork" in that queue:

I would really enjoy some form of solo queue that would match my skill against others that are not premade. What I don't think that you seem to understand is that my TEAMWORK is what distinguishes me from other players, even in a solo environment. I communicate better and convey my strategy and game knowledge in a superior way compared to other players in order to help my team win the game.

With more of a pathos appeal: It really sucks being an adc main against a trio, duo bot + jungler, when all you can do is feed -- as seems to happen frequently. This makes me feel helpless and overwhelmed, and certainly not a higher quality game for me as a solo person in the dynamic world.

Anyways, thanks for reading it this far, hope you think that my idea is valid and give me/the community some sense that you are actually listening to what we have to say about your game,

-Junky
