Edgor The Beautiful Beast
The moon was high over Runeterra, giving a bare shade over the land. The hulk of a knight was returning to his kingdom home of Demacia to inform his lord of the assassination attempt. It was a long trek that was to take weeks. Near the end of their voyage, the fighter stopped his pack in the woods. The marsh ground stuck wet to their boots as they noticed ahead a bright light, one that hid the darkness of the night. The essence changed between a plethora of gorgeous colors. Blue to pink to green to yellow, mesmerizing it's captivated audience. It was after they got close that they realized it was only a reflection of the moon overhead. What caused the reflection, however, seemed to abash the entire group.
A shiny gem lay at the bottom of the swamp water. The algae that covered it no match for the escaping rays. As the young warrior glimpsed it, it reminded him of someone whose memories dug themselves back into his head. He thought it to be quite the gift for a young maiden whom favored the light. Garen reached in to grab the gem but it's facade took him by surprise as it scurried away from him. Through the night the small army chased it as it's beacon glimmered on the trees around them. The marshes of Kaladoun were it's home, not Garen's. It knew the crevasses, the smallest little holes that it could get to to escape him. But no matter what hole it would climb into, or crevasse it would linger in, it's reflection always lured them closer.
Hours passed, the soldier determined to impress his old friend. The sun began ascending overhead, hitting them twice as bright as any time before. The creature, however bright it had been, was now pitch black. It started to grow, using the light it was absorbing and turning itself into an outrageous beast. The little shell had become much larger and thicker; it's legs grew to the size of Garen himself! The men finally decided it best to continue their journey, until the creature charged at one of them, pinning him to a wall. The Might of Demacia lifted his great-sword over his head and swung down with a fury that shrunk the beast down as it lost its energy, only for it to regain it back again. Finally, the beast charged towards the knight, pushing him back only slightly as they collided. His feet, digging into the ground.
The monster looked at Garen with sharp eyes as they stood against each other. "Leave my home, child." It spoke, in a shaky, raspy voice. "Edgor doesn't want you here." Suddenly it's shell began to shine again, and it's size began to fade. The glowing crab inched it's way back in the direction they had found it, the men leaving the beast and continuing on.
Passive: -Glimmering Beauty/Fierce Rage ------ When in Glimmer form, Edgor charms any champion within a short range for a very-short-period-of-time and deals magic damage. This effect can only happen once every average-period-of-time per target. ------ When in Crustacean form, Edgor charges his basic attacks, lunging an extra few steps per hit and dealing slight bonus physical damage.
Q: -Frightened/Tighten Grip ------ When in Glimmer form, his Q has a passive effect which gives him bonus movement speed when moving away from champions and makes him immune to slows. ------ When in Crustacean form, Edgor can grab hold of a target champion at melee range, dealing physical damage and stunning them for a short-period-of-time, as Edgor is also stunned.
W: -Hide/Harden ------ When in Glimmer form, this ability will cause Edgor to burrow below the ground for a short-period-of-time, making him untargetable but his passive still affects enemies. ------ When in Crustacean form, Edgor's shell hardens to absorb the next three causes of damage or lasts for several seconds.
E: -Very Shiny/Shell Slap ------ When in Glimmer form, Edgor blinds any target within a medium-aoe, dealing magic damage around him. ------ When in Crustacean form, Edgor spins his shell in a circle, dealing aoe physical damage around him.
R: -I Dig It/Leave Me Be! (Starts at level 1, taking your first skill point) ------ When in Glimmer form, Edgor Lunges extra far at a champion, activating his q and putting him into Crustacean form. While in Crustacean form Edgor gains maximum health and slight health regen over time. ------ When in Crustacean form, Edgor can cast this spell on a champion to travel to it (triggering his passive regardless of cooldowns) and dig in the opposite direction of it, escaping and creating a marshland-terrain that slows enemies that walk over it. This ability switches Edgor back into Glimmer form on use.
Laning:
Top Lane: Edgor would be a very efficient champion top lane, as his Crustacean mode gives him the sustain he would need to take down most roles up top. Just lunge in with your passive and slap them with your shell. If they go in too deep and are targetted by minions, or a tower, just tighten your grip on them for a little bit, or maybe go for that beautiful charm. All in all he has enough sustain to survive against the big bruisers.
Middle Lane: Edgor might not be the best for middle lane, as most mid-laners have quite a bit of poke. While his Harden ability could take some of it, and his extra regen might help, he can only take so much harass. The best strategy when you're in the middle would be a protobelt, so you can get that extra boost forward before utilizing your lunge. As well, Edgor can harass every now and then by getting his charm off and/or using his ultimate escape.
Support: This champion has quite a few aspects that can make him support-esque. He holds the crowd control, the tankiness and sustain, and is just as annoying as Leona or Soraka. Hold the target down while your adc does the trick, or charm them for the same result. Lots of potential in bot lane!
Jungle: Needless to say, most bruiser top laners can jungle pretty well. He has the sustain and the gap closers to make him good at soloing the camps, and ganking the lanes.
Summary: Overall this champion could be a nice change to league, as he is quite complicated but also quite not. Not a lot of complex champions get noticed in this forum but I hope my fun little lore segment helped with that. I appreciate those who took the time to read this and of course am willing to make changes as good ideas are presented.
P.S. Anyone who wants to make a concept art of a... well... basically a big shiny trilobyte-crab, feel free. I could post it up here and give you props (of course). Thanks again!
