I have an idea to fix Master Yi!
Sorry for the wall of text!
Okay, so I'm not an expert on any of this stuff but I have an idea to help fix Master Yi. It's basically a rework idea.
Alright so I absolutely LOVE the idea that Master Yi is some kind of old, wise bladesman that spends his days meditating until it's required of him to fight, and when he does, he unleashes a flurry of strikes to cut down those that threaten him and his way of life. So, I incorporated that into my changes.
P- I might get a little bit of controversy for this, but this remains completely unchanged. It's honestly fine how it is, however it does allow him to abuse on-hit items, except with this rework he'll be doing that a bit less. Maybe (Just MAYBE) increase the requirement to 4-Double instead of 3-Double, however this might mess up his jungle clearing so I'm not sure if it's that good of an idea.
P2- This is a second passive idea if the first one isn't received well - Every 1.5-.75 seconds, (reduced by attack speed), Yi gains a stack of "Focused Stance." At 3/4 stacks, his next auto attack will strike twice. The second strike will critically hit for 150% damage.
Q- Still deals damage to up to 6 targets, still deals alright damage. HOWEVER, now it is on a charge system, with a maximum of 2 charges. Auto attacks reduce the remaining charge time by up to 65%. Yi will no longer be untargetable while he is in Q.
W- Yi meditates for 5 seconds, healing him and granting increased resistances for the duration. If the full duration goes through, (.75 second grace period towards the end), then Yi will automatically have Focused Stance fully stacked for the next two auto attacks. (He gets to passive twice)
E- Toggled/switched ability, similar to Jayce and Nidalee ultimates. Option 1 - Master Yi gains bonus AD (+small bonus AD ratio) Option 2 - Master Yi gains flat bonus armor penetration. (Something like 5-25% based on E rank)
R- Master Yi focuses and channels for 1.5 seconds, focusing all of his Wuju Style experience into this one moment. During this time, he cannot be disabled, nor can he move or attack. At the end of the channel, he gains 25/35/50% increased movement speed and 50/75/100% increased attack speed for 7 seconds. His movement speed can be slowed by up to 50% of the bonus, (so 25/37.5/50%) and his attack speed can be slowed without restriction. His "Focused Stance" passive also reduces it's stack time to .25 seconds. At the end of the duration, he loses his "Focused Stance" passive until he leaves combat for 5 seconds.
So basically this transforms Master Yi from an extended-fight , on-hit hypercarry to more of a skirmisher. It also kind of removes his abuse of on-hit items (finally), and is now more reliant on actually looking for the right time to strike. His new E also makes it so that he's not an absolute f*cking nightmare for everybody, instead opting to focus more on either squishies or tanks. The E would only increase AD by a small amount, maybe a maximum of around 40-50, so as to make sure he's not entirely overbearing.
I'm not entirely sure how it feels gameplay wise, but I feel like his lore would need a bit of retouching for this to make sense. So, I made a small TL;DR of his "new" lore.
TL;DR: Master Yi is trying to preserve his way of life and teach others about it, so that they may join him in meditation. He comes from a long line of Wuju bladesmen, and intends to keep that line going for as long as possible. He only fights when it is absolutely required of him, as he believes in a violence-is-only-SOMETIMES-the-answer lifestyle, while still preferring not to fight.
Give me some of that good brutally honest feedback down below.
