Lore:

The Beginning: Esben grew up poor in the city of Bilgewater, the son of a merchant who was forced to give his profits (Which happened to be a hefty sum of money.) to Gangplank annually under the threat of force. Due to this Esben had to spend nearly all of his time as a child working just to make ends meet. He didn't understand why people like Gangplank took things away from hardworking people under the guise of “protection.” To Esben, he knew this town was more than capable of defending itself if he just left it alone and allowed them to produce what they needed. After a while, Esben comes of age, gets married, and continues his father's business. Things are relatively peaceful for Esben. However, in a twist of events that takes place during the Bilgewater Event, he gets separated from his wife and father while they were trying to leave the city together. He searches frantically for them. However, when he finally finds them, they are dead. Furious with grief, he tries to figure out who is responsible. After searching the scene meticulously, he finds several bullets. He is able to trace these bullets back to the owner of the gun. However, what he finds surprises him. The bullets he found are unique to the pistols of MissFortune. Whether or not she did it intentionally is besides the fact to Esben. It's still her fault. The supposed savior of Bilgewater, the good guy, had killed his father and wife. And with this, Esben realized something.

When powerful figures like these fight, the people who are hurt the most are the innocents. Those who didn't want to fight. Those who did nothing to deserve being pushed back and fourth by both sides, both of whom see them as means to an end. Heads or tails, both sides are still on the same coin. That was enough for Esben. He had made up his mind. He was done watching figures who had no respect for others get their way. He was going to level the playing field.

Past:

This began Esben's preparation. With his business destroyed, he moved to the outskirts of Demacia. He began to work as a bodyguard, training himself in combat and generating some money to make ends meet. He often found himself working as a farmer, due to this village having most of their food confiscated by military ambassadors from Demacia. After a few months of doing this, he traveled to Zaun and purchased expensive books under the table pertaining to Military Strategy and Guerrilla Warfare. Using the knowledge he gained from these books, he organized the overthrow and assassination of the Demacian embassies. He then gave the village knowledge of how to defend themselves from threats in the future, and moved on. With his first successful overthrow, the began liberating other small villages throughout Runeterra. He gained favor among those who were stolen from, and he was despised by those in power. He came to the villages at night, meeting with the common folk to plan the overthrow of their leaders. He was able to remove those in power, and prevent anyone from rising to power again.

Now:

After several years, Esben is ready to take the next step. He is now planning to take on MissFortune, and Gangplank. In order to bring peace to Bilgewater, he will need to kill them both, and prevent anyone from taking their place again. And he was going to do it his way, without magic, without questionable technology, and without exploiting others.

Appearance: Will add soon!

It looks like an interesting kit, especially with the ambush aspect which is one of the more attractive parts of being a jungler. Lore wise it is an interesting idea that this is just a normal guy who's armed and skilled and doesn't have magic, high-end hextech. Overall, I think it's a great champion concept and I wonder what idea you'll have next. Otherwise, there isn't really much that I could say as I can't really suggest or advise anything to make it more balance as that was never something I was good with.

Alright. I tried to refocus his kit to fit his thematic theme over the weekend. Let me know what you think of the new kit. I also expanded upon the lore. It's in a new post, the link is here: Esben, The Leveler

Sry for the long delay. Without further ado let's get going:

Lore: Already mentioned this, but it seems really out of place in a world like Runeterra to question authorities, since the threat of death and war is much more prevelant and there isn't much of an alternative as someone will step up to power eventually. He also seems awfully competent for someone that used to be a normal merchant till some time ago.

P: The dash effect reminds me of Iverns Q (move into AA range) combined with Rengars passive. The additional range gives him an obnoxious range early game (tied with Jinx max Q and only surpassed by Kogs max W and Twitchs R), but has a really long CD which doesn't seem fitting on a combat orientated passive. The fact that it changes his AS to a static amount ruins an AS build, which seems odd and could be remedied by an AS increase.

Q: Good poking tool with the %current health damage, but the dash interruption sounds problematic to programm and very easily mistimed (dashes only last short durations) so a silence or grounded effect seems more feasible.

W: The active sounds alright (a bit like Ivern W), but the downside seems out of place considering how easy you can toggle this ability completly negating it.

E: Sounds better than Galios W, which doesn't seem right. Although Galio has to charge his ability it has the same duration with more range and an instant release. The minion interaction is interesting, but currently too powerfull with it's damage negation and long duration.

R: Ally is 1001 units away -> 3.5 seconds stun (not even Morgs root is that long). Since an Ultimate should be a defining moment for a champion a bash with a rifle seems really anticlimactic.

Overall: The overall thematic ties together much nicer, but the E and R seem somewhat out of place. He seems to have too much CC for a Diver/Marksmen, especially the taunt seems more like a tank ability. Overall much better, but could use some tweaks here and there. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
