Yordle Trio [Champion Concept]

Hey guys, me and my friends have been working on this idea for a while (Looking at the dates, it started Feburary 8th), but now, I had a great idea for concept lore to put with it. So here it is! Hope you enjoy, and I willingly give any and all parts of this concept (Lore, character and champion concepts) for Riot to use, whatever it may be used for, if Riot decides to use any. Hell just being acknowledged would be awesome! Thanks!

Olive, recently graduated Archaeologist Scarlet, refugee from Piltover

It's been days on this expedition. Knowing my situation, I shouldn't complain, though I know I was not their first... or second pick. They needed an archaeologist, and someone with mechanical experience, and I was the cheapest they could get. Doesn't matter now, though. We aren't exactly at the desert yet but the sun still burns us. Some of the other yordles have started taking to shaving off fur to cool off. The navigator says we are a couple miles out of the desert, which is where we will be staying for now. I've reviewed some of the glyphs someone managed to scribble down wandering through here. It looks like it's from Shurima but none of it matches with what we do have of their language. What is this place supposed to be?

¿ǝɹǝɥ ƃuᴉop I ɯɐ ʇɐɥM

Ha! I can't believe it worked! The smog must make them blind, cause I swear one of them looked right at me as I jumped into one of those caravan carts. They are gonna be MAD when they find most of their food missing. .... Where are we going? I thought this was supposed to head south but we hopped on a boat, and I've been stuck for days hiding and darting between cargo. One of the Noxie's killed a Zaunite thinking they were hoarding food. I didn't mean for that to happen, but that's not my life and not my problem. I don't want to end up like that.

¿ǝɹǝɥ I ɯɐ ʎɥM

Success! Kinda. We found a site. Definitely not in the desert, and definitely not Shuriman. Although it's very small and it seems to be dedicated to a hero we have recorded in other areas before. I've been trying to transcribe as much of the glyphs and text to have it sent to Piltover, but if anything all this would bring is more story to the legend of this guy. Some of the guys here don't know about it so I'm probably going to have to play storyteller by the fire tonight. One thing bothers me though. Why is this here? If it's a memorial to a person, why so out of the way?

¿uo ƃuᴉoƃ s,ʇɐɥM ¿ʎɥʍ˙˙˙ʇɥƃᴉɹ ǝq ʇ,uɐɔ ʇI

We've arrived in some dry area. Argh! I can't stand it! I've been drinking water from their reserves and they are bound to notice me if not the dwindling water. The skies have been getting dark too. I've got the worst luck! Why did I pick this caravan to ride on? I could have just snuck to the ruins of Piltover or something and just scrapped out a life like the others. ... I miss home. I miss all of them. Why did they have to close the institute?

˙˙˙ƃuᴉɥʇʎuɐ ƃuᴉʞɐǝɹq ʇou ɯ,I ǝdoɥ I ˙ʇno ʇǝƃ oʇ ʇuɐʍ I ɟᴉ 'ʇɔɐ oʇ ǝʌɐɥ I

The storm! A storm rolled in quickly, lightning without rain, wind without pause! It's nearly destroyed our site so we took shelter in the shrine. Where did it come from? It wasn't there, not even in the distance!

That storm got bad quickly, and in the chaos they found me! GRRR! I had to run, but the wind kept carrying me away. I got slammed into a small building, I have to hide somewhere and all this dust might save me long enough for me to plan an escape. Okay, whatever's up high in the sky I promise, just don't kill me and I won't steal things I don't have to anymore, PLEASE!

¡ʇᴉ pᴉp I ¡sʞɹoʍ ʇI ¡ǝldoǝd ɹɐǝɥ uɐɔ I I heard someone talking, someone not from our group. Though not for long, a lightning bolt crashed right above us, making our ears ring and knocking bricks loose. I don't know what to do. A voice!? Someones found me! Well I'm not going to go quietly. They can be sure about that, I'll kick them back out into the storm!

!regnol elttil a tsuJ Another crash, and a large part of the roof was collapsing! It knocked the floor out and we started sliding into a cave. At first, I was filled with woe, the shrine was ruined, destroyed. Our findings meant nothing more than a few scraps of paper, probably lost in the storm. I'm worthless again. Alone in my career. But I have bigger problems, like the fact we are trapped in a cave. Jerk tried to tackle me! I dodged it but he's really trashing the place, revealing a cave below. I'm making my escape!

!uoy ees I A bright light enveloped the cave. It was so dark at first, but now I notice all the lines and glyphs here! It leads to a small room! We found something greater! As soon as I got down here, it lit up like a factory. Lights and signs everywhere. Maybe they point to a way out, yeah!

As one, the two had entered a room, and reached for a pedestal in unison. Different goals in mind, both filled with hope. Their lives flashed before each other's eyes. Scarlet saw a beautiful and and reborn Piltover, alive with technology and both yordles and humans. Olive saw a dark and desperate world where the Institute closed, where Noxus and Zaun worked to conquer a land broken by war.

In that instant, they knew who each other were, and the room filled with blinding light. A third presence made itself known. Scarlet felt dizzy as though she was suddenly moving fast. She felt joy, and to her, a voice spoke clearly. "The first thing I can see and it's a beauty like you. My luck has been the best... and knowing your past, I am sharing it with you." Olive took notice of a gauntlet on his hand, one that he had not been wearing. It glowed and he knew what it meant - they were all linked. Just as quietly he had entered the room, he left, only stopping to say "Call the academy. They will want to hear about this."

tl;dr - Olive and Scarlet find themselves at the same place at the same time in different dimensions, one in an alternative world and the other in the Valoran we know. A third person links them all together and saves Scarlet in the process.

When I initially designed this character, I had wanted them to be yordle triplets, troublemakers if anything, who were not strong enough to fight on their own but were an excellent team. However I redesigned that part of the story with what you see now.

Suggested names for Champion: ...Actually I don't know what to put. Paradox Squad? Multiverse Trio? I can't think of it at all. Suggest your own names in the comments, please!

In development, I had named each of the characters something for us to understand them better and the generally agreed on names were Tanky (Used a shield), Stabby (Scarlet - Used a sword), and Shooty (Olive - Used a slingshot). Though they did go through Blue, Red and Green as well. Now, I want to call each of them: Azure (The third voice in the story) Scarlet Olive

Azure is a large, beefy male yordle. He's a bit taller than the other two, and a bit more weight/muscle in him. His fur is a blueish tint and he wears his gauntlet on his left arm. It makes the shape of a shield when activated.

Scarlet is a female yordle with red hair and rogueish clothing. She's watchful, looking around as she moves. Her gauntlet is on her right arm. It forms a blade of light out the end of it when activated.

Olive is a smaller male yordle, with brown fur. His clothes are a bit green, and his gauntlet is on his right arm. He's connected the module part of it with a wire(Or an energy beam...or something cool) and swings it around like a yo-yo/whip.

(If someone can draw these guys it would be AWESOME, I would credit you and link your deviantart/whatever art hosting you've got.)

Now, on to the champion details!

Passive

Each one of the three has both an active and passive part to their passive. Passives increase at 1/6/11/16. Azure: Passively gains 1.5 Armor and 1.5 Magic Resist per level. When he casts his W or E, he gains a 30/50/70/90 (+15% AP) shield for 3 seconds. Cooldown: 12 Seconds Scarlet: Passively gains 1 Move Speed and 2% Attack Speed per level. She gains a 15% bonus to move speed and 30% bonus to attack speed for 4 seconds when she loses more than 15% of her max health in under two seconds. Cooldown: 45/40/35/30 Seconds Olive: He is ranged and his basic attacks deal 5 + (10% AP) bonus magic damage on hit. After casting his W or E, his next basic attack will fire two mini-bolts at enemies near his target. They deal 10 + (10% AD) (10% AP) magic damage. Cooldown: 14/13/12/10 Seconds Autoattack Range: 525

So, to further explain, these are ALMOST like mini abilities. It seems a bit much, but it makes sense with the rest of their kit. Their passive cooldowns aren't affected by CDR (Which is the same for all champs, I think), but you can still get some nice combos out.

  • Azure gets a shield on spellcast, which helps for 1v1 battles, although you have to be mindful of it's cooldown. Unlike the other characters, it's cooldown doesn't scale down.
  • Scarlet gains move speed. This can be useful for engaging an enemy or gap closing someone who's kiting you, or as an escape tool. It's lengthy cooldown means it can't be relied on too often, but Scarlet is a speedy character as it is.
  • Olive has a mini-Nashor's Tooth on his attacks, and the active is like a mini-Runaan's Hurricane. That's kinda awesome, and they should stack with their item counterparts.

-Q-

Tagteam! ** ManaCost**: 50 ** Cooldown**: 16/15/14/13/12 Description:

  • Cycles between one of three characters. Switching characters grants 2/4/6/8/10% move speed for 3 seconds. Each character has their own passive, W, and E.

This is your primary ability. You don't have to put a point in it to start with, like Azir with his soldiers, but it's your bread and butter. You can use it for a quick escape, using the bonus movespeed to get out if needed, or to switch to a different character to engage with. Be mindful of the mana cost.

They will always switch in order: Azure -> Scarlet -> Olive -> Azure (You start as Azure)

-W- Each one of the three has an ability.

Azure: Shield Toss (Name subject to change) ManaCost: 50/55/60/65/70 Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 Seconds Description: Skill Shot

  • Azure throws the core of his gauntlet and sticks to it's target for 3 seconds. If it hits an ally, they get a 75/100/125/150/175 (+75% AP) shield for 4 seconds. If it hits an enemy, it deals 50/75/100/125/150 (+30% AP) physical damage. At the end of the three seconds, or if W is pressed again, the core sends a wave out that applies a Blue mark (Refreshing Red and Green Marks) to all enemy units around the target for 10 seconds, and slows them by 30% for 2 seconds. Range: 800 // Pulse Range: 350

Scarlet: Outta my way! (Name subject to change) ManaCost: 70 Cooldown: 10 Seconds Description: Self Buff

  • For 4 Seconds, Scarlet gains 25/30/25/40/45% Move speed, can move through units, and any enemy she runs through gets knocked aside, taking 50/60/70/80/90 (+40% AD) physical damage, and she applies a Red Mark (Refreshing Blue and Green Marks) for 10 seconds.

Olive: Sweeping Strike (Name subject to change) ManaCost: 30/40/50/60/70 Cooldown: 15 Seconds Description: Cone Skill Shot

  • Olive sweeps his core infront of him, doing 20/40/60/80/100 (+ 30% AP) physical damage to all enemies, applying a Green Mark (Refreshing Blue and Red Marks) for 10 seconds, and slowing them by 30% for 2 seconds. He can recast this a second time within 2 seconds for an additional half mana cost. Range: 550

Now THIS is a start. These are all apply some CC or another (Mostly slows) and marks the target. This is where you got to manage your abilities.

  • Since you start as Azure, picking your W first is a good bet if you are going Top or Support, so that you can poke enemies or shield allies.
  • Using W as Scarlet can mean a quick getaway, or catching up to your enemies. Also, because this technically makes the target airborne, a Yasuo with fast reflexes can ult on people you knock aside. This one also has the least chances to mark enemies.
  • Lastly, Olive's W is like Sion's cleave uncharged. It does low damage, slows, and helps with waveclear. Use it to slow an escaping enemy so you can keep attacking them.

These marks are also useful in your E's, for providing different effects on consumption. Yes, this means convoluted combos.

-E-

Azure: Charge! (Name subject to change) ManaCost: 80 Cooldown: 16/15.5/15/14.5/14 Seconds Description: Dash

  • Azure charges in a direction, dealing 40/50/60/70/80 (+30% AD) (+25% AP per mark) physical to the first enemy he hits, consuming marks. For each mark the enemy had, they are stunned for 1 second (They would be stunned for 3 seconds if they had a Red, Blue, and Green Mark). Range: 600

Scarlet: Finishing Blow (Name subject to change) ManaCost: 50/60/70/80/90 Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 Seconds Description: AA Modifier

  • Scarlet's next basic attack does a bonus 10/20/30/40/50 (+25% AD) (+25% AD per mark) magic damage, consuming the marks. If the enemy had one marks, she is also refunded half the mana cost. If the enemy had two marks, the ability is also immediately off cooldown. If they had all three marks, she gets a full mana refund.

Olive: Bolo Yoyo (Name subject to change) ManaCost: 50/60/70/80/90 Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 Seconds Description: Single Target Attack

  • Olive swings his core at a target. If its a friendly unit (Minion, Pet, Champions, Clones) or structure (Tower, Ward, Zz'rot Portal), he dashes to them. If it is an enemy, he deals 20/30/40/50/60 (+25% AD) (+15% AP per mark) magic damage and roots them for 1 second, expending one mark (In order: Blue -> Red -> Green). If he expends a mark on a target, he can recast it at half cost within the next 2 seconds. Range: 550

So this is where marks come into play. It seems really unfair, but it's easier to counter than you think. Since you can see what marks you have on you, you can get out and avoid this trio till the marks wear off. And for all three marks to be applied, They have to W, then Q, W again, then Q again, and W once more, and then E. Timing this right, hitting all the attacks, with the E you want to use, takes skill. And the mana costs would be rough.

  • Azure's E is a lot like Alistar's W, Headbutt, however it doesn't knock enemies away. Marking an enemy and "Charge! ing" them gets a quick stun off which can be useful in fights. He can cast this as a getaway as well, going through walls.
  • Scarlet's E is an auto-attack modifier, which with 3 marks, can deal 200% AD (And because you casted an ability, it can proc Spell Blade from Lich Bane, Iceborn Gauntlet, and Trinity Force - Imagine 400% AD in ONE attack if you can manage to land three marks). Since it goes off cooldown with three marks, you can immediately recast it on the same opponent to do an additional 25% AD on your next attack if the first one didn't finish them off.
  • Olive's E is also a getaway tool, but requires a friendly target. He can spam this against marked enemies too to keep them from escaping an engagement. Against a marked enemy, you can technically cast this 4 times if they have three marks, considering it can be recasted if it spends a mark.

Some good combo's: Azure E through a wall, Q to Scarlet and W to get away quickly. As Olive, W to mark your opponent, E them to root them, and W again, then E again, and E one more time for some damage. Although in my opinion the ranges of these abilities should put you at risk of being AA'd by most ADC's.

-R-

Divide and Conquer! ManaCost: 100 Cooldown: 140/120/100 Description: Self Buff/Clone

  • Passive: When this ability is off cooldown, Tagteam!'s mana cost is halved.
  • Active: After disappearing for 1 second, all three characters come out for 10/15/20 seconds. Using Q, W and E to move them separately, or R to control all of them, they cannot use abilities, only basic attacks. Azure gets 50% of your current health, while Scarlet and Olive get 25% of your current health. They gain 10/15/20% move speed while far apart, and each gain 25% bonus to resistances if they are all close to each other. At the end of the duration, or when they die, each character pulses, dealing 35/70/100 (+40% AP) magic damage to nearby enemies (Stacks with other pulses if they are in range), and you take control of Azure as Scarlet and Olive disappear, with health equal to what remained of Azure's, Scarlet's and Olive's health. If Azure died, you control Scarlet, and if both Scarlet and Azure died, you control Olive. This ability is immediately disabled after two characters fall. Range of Resistance Buff: 650 // Range of Move Speed Buff: 1000 // Range of Pulse: 400

This is their Ultimate. It doesn't seem like much at first, but with three Yordle's running at you, it's a little intimidating. They each deal full AD on basic attack (And Olive's attacks still apply his passive), so they can be a threat, especially in teamfights where it quickly becomes a 7v5. Using this to escape is smart as well considering an enemy cannot catch all three unless they have someone chasing each one, and considering they gain move speed if far enough away from each other makes them difficult to catch anyways. You can also use this to attack towers, by ulting, having Azure tank tower shots and the others attack the turret.

Zillean can ult one of the three to keep them alive but Guardian Angel will only apply to the last one (Or when they come back together). I think some item passives should apply to all three, like Thornmail, Sunfire Cape, Nashor's Tooth, Ninja Tabi, etc.

How to play and build this Champion I assume with a kit like this, they would probably be fit as a support/top lane with a chance in the Jungle.

If you are playing Top Lane, start by taking your W and use it to poke the enemy and give yourself a shield. Build tanky with a little AD/Mana (Trinity, Frozen Mallet, Boots, Righteous Glory, Sunfire, Maw of Malmorthius). Use your ult in teamfights or when you need a bit of extra damage in engages. Use Azure or Olive in lane to farm against your opponent. Use Scarlet to roam. Max order: R->W->Q->E

If you are playing Support, take your W and use it to poke enemies and shield your ADC. Build Tanky with Mana/AP (Sightstone, Boots, Face of the Mountain, Warmogs, Iceborn Gauntlet, Locket of the Iron Solari) Ult to overwhelm the enemy in lane and help your ADC take towers down or to take dragon. Use Azure mostly, switching to Olive to perform the W-E-W-E-E combo to lock an enemy in place for your ADC to kill.

If you are playing Jungle, take W, and use it to help take your first camp. After getting your full combo, you should be able to W as Azure, Q to Scarlet, W the camps, and E the main creature, or clear using the W-E-W-E-E combo as Olive if you have mana or Blue Buff. Gank as Scarlet, W'ing at your enemy to CC them, switching to Olive and E-W-E-W-E-E'ing them to consume marks while you AA them. Build AD (Or AP if you want your combo to do more damage), with a little bit of tank/mana (Manamune/Archangel's Staff, Boots, Lich Bane/Trinity, Maw/Abyssal, Statik Shiv/Nashor's Tooth, Jungle Item).

This does underplay Scarlet, but shes usually used as a getaway or fast attacking melee.

Friends: Themselves Azure competes with Braum , and knows of Bard as Bard knows the power of their Gauntlet as a powerful artifact. Scarlet is a fan of Tristana , finding her very much like the rebels in her universe. She relates to Lulu , with the feeling of being from a different world. Olive envies Ezreal , due to his techmaturgical and exploration achievements. He respects Rumble for going his own way, but says "I don't really like flamethrowers."

Enemies: Azure understands and fears Aatrox . Scarlet hates Noxus with a passion, but most importantly Swain . Olive has an unnatural fear of things with many eyes, like MasterYi , Jax , Elise (Spiders have many eyes).

Alternative Skin ideas: Renegade Trio

  • They are dressed like bandits, and their abilities are more mundane. Arclight Trio
  • Their decals are white and a pale version of their color, with attacks and abilities matching the arclight theme.

Dance: First, for the dance: A loop of this where when one dances, the other two will appear in a ghostly/holographic way, and do it with whoever is out. When the ult is active, they will dance wherever they are.

Thank you for reading this! I hope that you liked it, and if you have any suggestions, please post them, I'd love to hear what you have to say.

I'm sorta new to the forums so I don't know exactly what to say, but I like it. This champ would probably require a lot of skill to use, but would be really good and effective once you completely learned them. I'm not sure about be able to control then separately, personally that seems a bit too much to be able to control 3 champs at once, but I'm sure its still possible. That's just my opinion though :P
