Why I don't play leagues like I used to
Everyone likes to hate on certain champs but I feel like I have way too much resentment towards most champions in general. I'll respect most of them anyways (even if I don't like their kit) and the person playing them, however I never quite feel as much salt as when I play against some of the few champions I absolutely abhor. Usually, I'll shrug it off, but occasionally I'll come across an exceptional circumstance that I feel like I need to say something about it on behalf of everyone who hates that specific champion. This isn't Teemo level hate, playful and stuff because the community loves to bash on them, this is borderline "Permaban this champ, or a few people will dodge if they see them picked."
You can argue that the champion is weak in the meta or only has a low% win rate, or anything really. It doesn't matter when the said champion can do things almost every other champion in the game cannot play against.
In the match I linked, I faced a bunch of really oppressive champs, but one of the ones I really should have payed attention to was Akali. She was building tanky, and I shrugged it off and focused on my lane. I was really stupid for doing so because I totally forgot she can dash a minimum of three times (Even more if she manages to get assists or kills), and I didn't build MR because I thought the only real Magic Damage would be coming from Taric or maybe a Shaco box. This leads me to my main point.
So I looked it up and it's a trend that started in Korea, where Akali players would go top and build tank, and still wreck face. I had a beef with Akali before then, but that was mainly because she had a lot of sustain (Passive gives her spell vamp, Q gives her energy) and WAAAAY too many dashes. Facing a tank akali today, I learned that you can build literally one AP item on her and that would be enough to nuke a squishy champion, and allow her to trade well against tanks. Considering you can build her tanky, still do damage, and even go as far to mention she runs on energy, can go invisible, and dash 3 times, you either engage her (And deal not nearly enough damage against her when she's tanky) and get nuked down, or you run, get dashed to until you die. My entire team would CC her yet it would never be enough because she'd find a way to escape or literally outtank most of my team. I would use the active on Frost Queens, ult, flash and E and she could still dash to me 4 times.
The same problem applies to Irelia. I can't CC her down because she's got increased tenacity and will turn it around and stun me, she still deals absurd damage if she builds tanky, she can't be escaped especially if there's a minion wave she can constantly dash to, and she has crazy sustain in lane and in fights using her ult.
These are oppressive champions. You could argue that being a ranged champion with some CC "Counters" them but most times what is said to counter a champion only works in theory. Every other champion in the game has counterplay, whether you can CC them and they lose most of their power, you can build tanky and outlast them, play safe under tower, play safe two towers back, whatever the advice is, most of the time it doesn't apply to a hyper carry mobile bursty assassin sustain mage tank (I typed that jokingly, but looked back and saw how accurate that is).
At least now that I got the salt out of my system, I can say a few good things.
I am really looking forward to Aurelion Sol, and Taric's Rework. Uhh.... I don't encounter as many toxic players. Hmm... Well I can't think of much but, uhh, besides the champions (You need to pay more attention to champions with multiple dashes is all I should say, that and Yorick needs some attention too), you guys are doing great.
