My take on a Wukong update

Did riot just use my idea lol Hey guys, I never post here but I decided to start because I get these random ideas of how certain Champs can be updated. I noticed a lot of people talking about how Wukong needs a tune-up, and I agree. So here's some minor changes I would make to the monkey king.

Passive: Ancient Staff (name WIP) After Wukong uses an ability his next auto-attack has bonus range, reduces the enemies armor by a %, and deals a portion of their health as magic damage.

Q: Spinning Leap (WIP) Wukong spins his staff in a forward direction, dealing damage in an aoe cone like shape. Afterwards Wukong can leap in a targeted direction the cursor points to (can be used over walls). The spin can be canceled early.

W: basically put his old passive into his w as a new passive and increase with leveling up ability.

I feel like his E and R are fine where they are.

So tell me what you guys think, good or bad, are you a Wukong main? Let me know, I'll keep posting more when I get more ideas.

Not really a main Wukong, nor have I played him much recently, but I've hit M7 on him. Here are my impressions:

  • Passive: The bonus AA range on his current Q is meant to harass the enemy out of their AA range or to finish a combo on a running target. As such, I don't see the point of giving him bonus range AFTER an ability, since his offensive abilities get him more or less on melee range. Also, enemy HP based damage doesn't really suit him, as his main target aren't tanks. Instead, why not give him +25 range and AoE on all his skills and a bit of flat, level-scaling bonus AD, stacking up to 5 times. That'll requiere him to charge up before going all in for maximum effectiveness while giving the enemies some chance to counter.
  • Q: Giving a viable assassin extra mobility is most likely a bad idea, as it'd make him easier to play, stronger, and harder to counter. However, if you move his Q into his Passive, Q has to be changed somehow.
  • W: Giving an ability you max last some lategame power doesn't affect how skills are upgraded and gives his some free lategame power. Doubt it's a good idea.
  • R: With the Passive I mentioned, R range should be changed to the current 250? to whatever his AA range is (200~300). Note: minimum ult range is 200 because R cast would add a stack to his passive, so AA range = 175+25

Do think the name needs to change on the passive. his staff isn't really ancient in the lore and (until informed otherwise by new lore) It was made by Doran, being hailed as his "greatest creation". Though seeing as Galio is now one of his creations, I'd have to assume it's been downgraded to "the greatest weapon he's ever created". Also I don't think it would be worth having it deal magic damage, even if it scaled. Wukong currently does not build anything with AP and is really a problem with how his current W is set up, even to the point Rioters would like to change how the damage works for that ability.

As for his W it wouldn't be so bad if his current passive was a secondary passive, but even the current version is really rough around the edges. The idea of "gaining armor and mr for each near by enemy" is restricting as it requires a full enemy team to get the full effect from it, which will require your entire team as well so you don't get blown up with the entire enemy team focusing on you. It's why I think Irelia's old passive got reworked to only stack for 3 enemies and why item 3193 gets it's max bonus for 3+ enemies. having to wait for the enemy team to group up is something that is very uncontrollable for you and forces you to have to wait for a full team fight. Rather, it would be best to go the way of item 3193 and having it max at 3 enemies. That way the bottom amount can be a tad higher helping out for 1v1 a bit more and make him a bit more resistant against ganks without giving him more power in a full 5v5 team fight then he already has.

Overall I do think these are some good ideas, the Q would be nice as something other then an empowered AA and the new passive does make use of the whole "extending staff" idea more then his current kit does.
