"Dreams are but a fragile look into the soul." - Penelope

Nightmares and dreams in the world of the living offer escapes and traps. Love and hate. Life and death. Mortals know not truly what dreams are made of, other than visions of the past, the present, and sometimes the future. It is within these dreams live the entity that came before the creation of Nocturne. A being that no one knew about...until now.

Her discovery came in the twilight hours of the night in a small village. Everyone laid sound asleep. Even the animals, that would lie awake far later than their masters, breathed in the silent calmness of sleep. It was as a wave of narcolepsy hit the village entirely. It was then that a lone soul appeared in the lunar gaze. A young woman with pure white hair, highlighted by black streaks and strange flowers began drifting silently through the empty streets. Her porcelain skin shown brilliantly off the windows, as a hue of glittery silver decorated the flesh like sweat on an athlete. Draped in what could only be described as a ritual gown, the woman glided across the cobblestone roads and into the center of the village.

Suddenly she was in a villagers home. An image of a young boy reflected in her eyes. She caressed the youth's hair lovingly, as though remembering an old love from long ago. He began to stir and she became motionless. The boy looked at young woman hovering before him and blinked rapidly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes he looked at her again, but she was no longer a woman. She had become a young girl, the same age as the boy in appearance only. He stared at her in awe.

"Do I know you?" The boy asked silently.

The young girl shook her head, but began to smile innocently.

"No, but I know you."

"How?" The boy asked puzzled?

"I know everyone, because I have been with everyone. Everyone in the whole world." She said with the smile still adoring her face.

"That's not possible. No way you have met everyone in the world." He said with a confused look on his face.

"Oh but I have. In their dreams." The young white haired girl said with a pause, "My name is Penelope. What's yours?"

"Their dreams?" He said ignoring the question. The boy was too shocked about the girl still smiling at him in the pale moonlight.

"Dreams are but a look into one soul, isn't it? I love to see what people dream, because it holds what they held dear in the past, what they are dealing with in the present, and what may come in a premonition of the future."

"I'm not sure I understand..." The boy said scrunching up his eyebrows in confusion once more.

"That's okay. I'll see you again in another dream. Soon you'll understand, they'll all understand." Penelope said beginning to float away from him as the hue grows around her body.

"Who's them? Come back!"

The pale spirit appeared before the boy again, right in his face, this time in her original form.

"Rest child. Dream of happy things. For a nightmare is coming." Penelope shoved what looked like a glowing needle into the young boy's head and with that the child was out once again. He awoke to no memory of the woman who came in the middle of the night. All that was left to commemorate the meeting, was a strange flower laying on the foot of his bed.

Overview:

Penelope is an AP assassin who's primary goals are to infiltrate the enemy team and causes nightmares for all of them. She uses dreams to both protect herself and obliterate her opponents by hopping into their minds causing a variety of different play options.

Penelope is best suited for a solo lane with potential jungling abilities.

Abilities:

Passive: Daydreamer Penelope passively collects the dreams of allies and enemies alike. Each time she kills an enemy champion, Penelope collects their dream giving her 10 (x .35 of the enemies respawn time) as bonus magic damage on all her abilities for the next .5 / 1 / 1.5 minutes.

Multiple kills do not stack the amount of damage but do refresh the timer of Daydreamer.

** Q: Night Terror Needles**

Penelope throws a needle in a line that infects the mind of the first target struck with a horrible living nightmare, dealing 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+ 90% AP) magic damage, applying a stackable 25% slow and a stack of Night Terror for the next 3 seconds, which if stacked three times, fears the enemy for .5 / .75 / 1.00 / 1.25 / 1.5 seconds.

Penelope can wield 3 Night Terror Needles at once and if channeled by holding down the key, she can throw all 3 at once. Night Terror Needles recharge after 2 seconds.

Cooldown: 6 seconds total at all ranks, 2 seconds per each needle. Needle Stack Cooldown: 1.5 seconds Range: 650 Mana Cost: 35 at all ranks

**W: Narcolepsy / Insomnia **

Passive: If Penelope's stands still for more than 4 seconds, she recovers 20 health (+10% of her maximum mana) per second. (The visual would show her starting to nod off while remaining in place while she heals).

Active: Penelope strikes a target with a needle to the brain on her next auto attack, dealing 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 ( + 65% AP) magic damage causing them to suffer rapidly increasing Insomnia for the next 3 seconds. During this time period all damage sustained on the target is increased by 10% / 20% / 30% / 40% / 50%

Cooldown: 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 seconds Mana Cost : 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70

E: Lucid Dreams

Active: Penelope jumps into a target's mind for up to 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 seconds leaving her untargetable. Penelope is able to jump one more time to another target from the orignal host.

Upon reactivation or after the amount of time expires, Penelope leaps out of the target dealing aoe magic splash damage for 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 / 210 (+ 100% AP) at the epicenter and 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 ( + 60% AP) on the outer fringes to all enemies.

Each time Penelope hops out of an allied champion with Lucid Dreams, she gains a shield for 10 ( x .25 of the time the champion has spent alive) for the next 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 seconds.

Penelope can Lucid Dream into minions, jungle camps, allied champions, Dragon, and Baron Nashor.

(Bonus Information) Once Penelope is inside an ally or a neutral monster, all effects done to whatever she inhabits, say Syndra W throw, will be applied only to the host in the form of damage. This also means that Penelope can jump into an enemy minion and be thrown around with the host without any damage done until the host dies.

Cooldown: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 seconds Epicensecondsge: 250 Outer Fringe Range: 450 Lucid Dreams Leap Range: 700 Mana Cost: 60 at all ranks

** R: Sleep Paralysis / Waking Bomb **

Passive: Penelope permanently gains 5 / 10 / 15 bonus mana every minute she is alive.

Active: While inside an enemy host, Penelope places a strange flower onto their head, putting them to sleep and causing the host to suffer Sleep Paralysis, which roots them in place for .5 seconds. Penelope then explodes out with Waking Bomb on the Sleep Paralyzed enemy champion dealing 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 70% AP) to the host and all surrounding enemies.

Cooldown: 125 / 95 / 75 seconds Waking Bomb Radius: 750 Mana Cost: 0

Playstyles:

Laning - While in lane Penelope's main focus would be to land as many stacks of Night Terror on her opponent as possible until they low enough to go all in with her E and W combo. The combo would probably be something like E - W - Q - Q - Q. Meaning jumping into a minion with Lucid Dreams only to jump right back out onto the enemy champion. She then hits Insomnia which boosts the damage the enemy will suffer for the next 4 seconds as Night Terror Needles burst down the unfortunate soul. If Sleep Paralysis is available, its almost an assured way to burst down the target in lane. Go in with Lucid Dreams, apply Sleep Paralysis and Insomnia, explode out with Waking Bomb and smash Night Terror Needles into the poor soul and leave them in a heap. However, Penelope's high cooldowns leave her vulnerable to ganks , so if she is baited into all in her opponent she either has follow through and hope to get out with another lucid dream or wait for Narcolepsy to try her favor once more.

Jungling - Penelope I believe could be pretty adept at jungling, taking her Q first and getting an easy stun on her first camp and then moving to her next camp (which most likely would be blue if starting Gromp) take w and easily clear the big buffs out of the way. Her ability to jump into lane with Lucid Dreams with her opponent could set up some serious plays if they aren't on vigilant watch. For example Penelope jumps onto a Zed mid while he is in river. He shadows into lane with her in his mind and she hops out, getting initial burst and poking the victim down with Night Terrors.

Does her ults passive have a stacking limit of some kind, or is it just infinite?

Pretty crazy, but an interesting idea overall. I'll just give some initial reactions:

  • Daydreamer is pretty ridiculous. The shield she gets from hopping into allies can be ridiculously huge as well as the damage that she gets from killing an enemy. 300 extra damage on all of her damaging abilities from 1 kill is a bit overkill (especially for 5 minutes). I'd suggest lowering the duration of the bonus damage to 10 seconds + their respawn timer or something, moving the shield to her E itself and fiddling with the ratios (reducing time ratio and adding AP ratio, perhaps).
  • Her Night Terror Needles have a 240% AP ratio at level 1. That's stupid strong.
  • W's passive is just... eh. It's an overpowered version of Aatrox's passive that takes a longer time to revive her. I'd suggest removing this entirely (especially since it has no cooldown) or at least adding some new mechanics. Is she untargetable during this time or not?
  • Is Penelope untargetable during Lucid Dreams? You never said. Aside from that, this is her coolest ability by far and the thing that makes her most unique. Focus on this for any new changes.
  • Depending on the radius of her ultimate, it might just be stupidly broken. That and why does an assassin have an overpowered Morgana/Galio ultimate with a built in Zilean bomb? This ability is overloaded as hell and should be thought over again.
  • You didn't say what her role in teamfights was in the Gameplay section. Can she splitpush? Have you thought of whether she can be an alternative duo botlaner? (good poke, high safety thanks to E)
  • Specify the range on each of her abilities.

Keep on working to improve :D Reviewer, away!summoner 4

after the recent changes she seems pretty solid aside from a few minor things

  • What are her base stats (or at least her range)?
  • What are stacks of Night Terror? How long do they last? The spell has a 9 second cooldown, how is she going to have more than one stack on someone?
  • What does her W passive do? I'm under the impression that it heals, but it doesn't say.
  • The damage amplification on her W seems really high (60%) for amplifying all damage.
  • The shield she gains on her E can run out before she targetable.
  • Is the mana she gains from her ult's passive permanent?
