why is there an option to ban no champ in champ selecT?

i find a really bad feature since in low elo most players equal not banning a meta champion or a hard counter to him or a teammate as skill not just not using your brain and literally increasing the chances of loosing again. now i dont mind about him but if im part of his team why should i pay for it when he looses the lane hard bc the counter actually get picked only bc he does not take his free ban option?

Not banning a champion is a double edged sword.

On one hand, it does expand the champion pool for the match, yet at the same time, that means the pool of champs is expanded for both team.

To add to this, you can use it as a way to potentially make the enemy team show their hand first. How? Well, by banning champions you, to a small extent, reveal your lane. An example: people who ban assassins are either ADC's or a mid-laner that is countered by said person. Banning an ADC or Support typically means you're in bot lane, etc. I might be reading too much into it, but not banning can leave an enemy team guessing to your role, and could (in theory) make someone ask for their pick to be chosen from someone on the team to ensure they get who they want, but can lead to counterpicks. I always see the ban phase as a sort of mind game when it comes down to it.
