Volatov is intended as a top lane bruiser/assassin or a jungler. His play style revolves around invalidating the enemy teams front line by ignoring a percentage of their defenses and applying consistent DoT while also potentially being able to assassinate the back-line. As he is the king of poisons he will either have great synergy with other poison wielding champions or he will make a nice counter pick to DoT heavy teams. He is also a melee champion who has moderate range on is abilities allowing him to easily juggle both offensive and defensive game play mechanics.

Passive: Poison Master

  • Deadly Neurotoxin Volatov's basic attacks and abilities apply a rare poison to his enemies that allow him to ignore 7% of their total Armor and Magic Resist for 5 seconds stacking up to 3 times. Every third basic attack on an enemy afflicted with Deadly Neurotoxin will refresh the duration.

  • When Volatov applies 3 stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin on a target they deal 15% less damage and receive 25% less health from effects healing for 5 seconds. Additionally, Volatov's abilities will have bonus interactions against enemies with max stacks.

  • Volatov has a high resistance to poisons which allows him to take 25% less damage from DoT effects. (This does not affect damage from Ignite.)

Q: Venomous Chains – Mana: 30/37/44/51/58 | CD: 11/10/9/8/7 seconds | Range: 950

  • ACTIVE: Volatov tosses out a chained hook in a straight line that will hook into the ground at the end of it's range for 10 seconds dealing 25/35/45/55/70 (+30% AD) physical damage to surrounding enemies on impact. If Volatov hits an enemy, the hook will latch onto that target dealing an additional 50/60/70/80/100 (+70% AD) physical damage over 3 seconds and apply an additional stack of Deadly Neurotoxin. (This ability does hit minions for those that aren't sure.)

  • Volatov can left click on an active Venomous Chain to pull himself to it as long as he is within casting range. If he pulls himself to a hooked enemy champion his next basic attack against that enemy will inflict a debuff that will deal 6/7/8/9/10% of their maximum health as bonus magic damage over 3 seconds.

  • If Volatov pulls himself to an enemy hit by Venomous chains with max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin they will be slowed by 15% for 2 seconds

  • Volatov stores a chained hook every 17 seconds up to a maximum of 2.

W: Poisoned Blades – Mana: 60/66/72/78/84 | CD: 7 seconds

  • Passive: Volatov's basic attacks and abilities apply poison on hit that deals 10/20/30/40/50 (+15% AP) damage over 5 seconds.

  • ACTIVE: Volatov coats his hooks in a deadly poison that evaporates when he hits with his next basic attack or ability, poisoning them and applying a stack Deadly Neurotoxin to all enemies within 200-radius.

  • If this active hits a target with max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin they become contagious, spreading poison to nearby any other enemies within 300-radius for 2 seconds. (Does not apply passive to those nearby enemies. That would be broken. :P)

E: Cynical Strike – Mana: 75/90/105/120/135 | CD: 16/14/12/10/8 seconds | Range: 1000

  • ACTIVE: Volatov dashes to a target enemy afflicted with Deadly Neurotoxin and strikes them with his hooks dealing 80/120/180/240/300 (+100% AD) immediate physical damage and (+30% AP) magic damage over 3 seconds.

  • If Volatov dashes to a target with max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin he will heal himself for 10/11/12/13/14 (+current level) % of his total health over 5 seconds and can activate the ability again (within 5 seconds) to dash back to his original location.

R: Pyro-Toxin – Mana: 75/95/125 | CD: 140/130/120 seconds | Range: 1200

  • ACTIVE: Volatov tosses out a bottle of flammable toxins at a targeted location that explodes on impact dealing 300/400/500 (+20% AP) magic damage poisoning and applying a stack of Deadly Neurotoxin to all enemies within 500-radius.

  • If Pyro-Toxin would hit any poisoned enemies it will deal an additional 20% of combined AP and AD magic damage and ignite those enemies for 4 seconds and apply max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin.

  • If Pyro-toxin hits an enemy already afflicted with max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin they become immobilized for 1 second and become ignited for an additional seconds. (The ignite replaces that of the previous effect and does not stack. Again, that would be broken. lol)

WIP- Not finished yet!

Volatov is the menacing head of one of Noxus's more notorious noble families. He is the father of Cassiopeia, who found her body transformed after betraying Sivir at the ruin's of Shurima. Upon discovering Cassiopeia's transformation, Volatov became obsessed with her power over poison that had seemingly overnight surpassed his own. She quickly became his favourite daughter and would study her very closely in the hopes that he could understand what made her poison so different from his own. Eventually forcibly stealing some of her venom for his research.

Angered by her father's betrayal, Cassiopeia killed him in his sleep however she was surprised to be greeted by him the next morning as he bore the most sinister of smiles and his body transformed. He had performed a forbidden arcane ritual that few knew existed in an effort to infuse himself with Cassiopeia's power. He thanked her for killing him as it was the final step to completing an essential part to his ritual and thus allowing him to ascend to his rightful place as the Poison King.

After betraying his own daughter for the sake of his own ambitions, he began scouting all of Runeterra for as many different kinds of poison as he could find in an effort to one day ascend as a god of poisons. His ambition, hot as fire, eventually led him to create two of the most deadly poisons known to all of Runeterra. One that would render the world defenseless from his impending onslaught, and the other would ignite into flames should it ever mix with any other poison.

Out of fear that Volatov may one day reach his end goal of completed ascension he has been eternally imprisoned in the League of Legends.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------Patch Notes----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patch 1.0 - Removed true damage DoT from Rending Chains and adjusted the ability scaling slightly. Also made it so that he only gets the % health damage on champions and no longer neutral monsters and added scaling to it instead of just a flat 10%. Reworked passive to work based on stacks, applying less Armor and MR ignoring at 1 stacks, down from 10%, going up to a total of 21% at max stacks.

Patch 1.1 - Changed passive from Instill Weakness to Poison Master, mostly just a flavor change, however this came with the addition of his resistance to DoT and his ability to reduce the damage of enemies with max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin. (Deadly Neurotoxin originally shared the name of the original passive, Instill Weakness.)

Patch 1.2 - Reduced CD on Poisoned Blades down to 7 seconds from 10 seconds. Pyro-Toxin also now applies max stacks of Deadly Neurotoxin if it hits any units already afflicted by poison. Adjusted irregular mana scaling on abilities bringing Pyro-Toxin's maximum mana cost down to 125 from 135.

Patch 1.3 - Added bonus interactions for having max stacks of passive to each of Molatov's abilities in order to improve the theme of his kit and reward players for applying max stacks. Reworked Q and E slightly to better emulate Volatov's title as the Poison King. Q also renamed from Rending Chains to Venomous Chains for thematic purposes. Also increased the time it takes to store chains by 2 seconds

--------------------------------------------------------------------Creator's Comments-------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure how I feel on his balancing yet, but I haven't thought about it too much yet. I just came up with him while I was at work, and am admittedly even posting it from work here in the same day lol. He's not very unique mechanically either, I realize, but to me, he seems like something that would be really fun to play anyway. I want to make him as feasibly realistic as a LoL champion as possible though so I'm wide open to critique and suggestions if you have any.

Thanks for reading my bad idea. XD

I would like to review this Champion once you've fully fleshed him out. I'll give you my thoughts on each ability for now though, but you can take them lightly since you yourself said that you haven't put much thought into him.

Passive: Do your basic attacks apply this passive, or is it your abilities? Also, 10% isn't much early on, which isn't a bad thing. All % scale well into the late game. He could be a weak laner with a strong late game. My problem with this passive is that it's nothing new. Every time Riot releases a Champion, they push things to the point where you say "NO WAY!". This passive didn't make me say "NO WAY!". It's not easy to make a ground breaking Champion, but I know that everyone has the ability to do so if they give it some effort.

Q: This ability sort of confuses me. So you throw a chain. The chain can either land on the field or attach to an enemy. If it attaches to an enemy, it applies a true damage DoT. Then you can left click on a chain to pull yourself either to the spot where it landed or to the enemy it's attached to, right? Then his next basic attack against that enemy (assuming it hit an enemy and not the ground) will deal % health damage. And this ability can hold 2 charges? I feel like this ability just has too much going on. True damage. AoE physical damage. % health magic damage. You have all 3 types of damage in one ability, and that ability is also a gap closer that can be cast twice. This ability by itself is broken. And does the chain pass through minions? Also the mana scaling per level is irregular.

W: So a passive that applies a poison, and an active that applies that poison and his passive in an AoE on his next basic attack or ability. Not much to say here. The cooldown is pretty long in my opinion for such a simple skill. Also irregular mana scalings.

E: What's mixed damage? The damage scaling is also irregular.

R: Your ult's mana cost has 5 levels, but the cooldown has 3 :P

Thoughts: I don't quite understand how this Champ is supposed to play. Is he a top laner? A jungler? You need to clarify his abilities and play style. What does he do? What makes him worthy of being a League of Legends Champion? What makes him unique? Can he kill Teemo? These are the questions.

Once you've reworked him, you can post on my Champion's thread, Arna The Free Spirit. While you're there let me know what you think about her :D

So I can tell by his name, Volatov, that it's a pun on Molatov (right?) and that's where his ultimate comes from (right?). However, I still have a thematic problem with this Champion. His title is the Poison King, he uses chains, and his ultimate is a molatov. Also, in the description of his ultimate, it says that he throws out a "bottle of flammable toxin", but his kit doesn't allow him to ignite this flammable toxin, so why make it flammable? Right now I feel like his kit revolves around his Rending Chains, which has nothing to do with poison as far as I can tell? I don't know if what I'm saying is making sense. I just don't feel the thematic synergy between Volatov's abilities.
