Champion Concept: Zale, the Ocean Guard

Hello everyone, my name is JamesDrake9 and welcome to my first Community Champion Creation post! I have had several ideas bouncing around in my head for a few years about how to make a team of champions, with abilities designed to synergize together, similar to Xayah and Rakan, but over the whole map. However, I can't quite seem to make anything work out, except for their lore. That's where you guys come in. I know I need help, need a team, like Riot with their design teams. I will appreciate any input you guys have, from quotes, to abilities, to numbers, to concept art. I will tell you some of the ideas for the abilities that I had, so you have an idea of where I'm going. Just try to keep criticism constructive. Some generalities to keep in mind about all of these champions is that each is associated with an element, and have a familiar related to that element. I will try to keep up to date with everyone and fill this empty post up.

Now, on to the champion.

Zale is meant to be a paladin, protecting his teammates and getting in the enemy's way. As of this writing, Zale doesn't have a weapon or a familiar, but his element is water. The one thing I know Zale will have is a passive or ability that allows him to take a portion of the damage nearby allies take as his own, stopping past a certain health level so he can't kill himself, similar to Ivern's Passive Friend of the Forest. The other ability I would like is a Yasuo W: Windwall that ricocheted all projectiles 180 degrees. This would probably be around Zale's hitbox. Other abilities I had in mind was a shield that increased in amount the more enemies there were nearby or the more allies that were protected. There was a whirlpool that formed around Zale that was between the size of Shyvana's W: Burnout and Diana's E: Moonfall, that deals damage per second and drew enemies towards him so that they would be slowed if moving away from him, sped up if moving towards him and drawn to him if moving parallel to him. Different variations of this had the whirlpool giving him a shield for every enemy in it, or being deployable. There was also a geyser that knocked enemies up after a short delay. The geyser also had a healing effect and showed up in the middle of the deployable whirlpool.

Passive: Lana, the Seven Seas Turtle: Zale carries his familiar, Lana, who projects an aura around Zale in an X unit radius. The aura protects allies in the radius from taking X% of the damage they otherwise would have taken, dealing it to Zale instead.

Q: Undertow : Zale throws Lana, traveling 850 units dealing 30/ 45 50 /60/90 +40% AP in a 40 unit wide line, pushing enemy and ally units a short distance in the target direction. Lana waits at the end location. If recast or if Zale moves to far away from Lana she returns to him, applying the same effects towards Zale. Enemy channels and dashes are interrupted by Undertow but ally channels and dashes are not.

W: Reflect: Zale uses Lana like a shield in a target direction, reflecting all enemy projectiles that hit it. Skill shot projectiles travel the remainder of the distance they have left and target projectiles travel 100 units * the skill level. All reflected projectiles deal the same effects and damage to enemies. If Zale is holding Lana and Lana reflects a CC'ing skillshot the CC applies to both Zale and any enemy hit. If Lana is on her own she turns on her side so her shell is facing the target direction. Casting or recasting Q does not stop this effect. Cooldown: 12 sec.

E, Brine: Zale smashes his hammer on the ground directly in front of him dealing damage in a 400 unit radius area, simultaneously creating a 400 unit geyser at a target location for 4 secs which knocks enemies up and deals damage. If Lana is on her own the geyser spawns directly under her. If Lana is in the geyser at any time it follows her movements and cancels Reflect. All enemies knocked up by a Brine'd Lana are pulled or pushed an extra 100 units.

R: TBD: Lana strengthens her aura giving allies protected by Lana, the Seven Seas Turtle a shield that is increased in strength the more enemies are around them.

Name: Zale Title/Epithet: The Ocean Guard Element: Water Role:Tank/Top Weapon: Familiar: Lana, the Seven Seas Turtle Age:17

Lore: Zale was born and raised in Wolf Water Harbor, a section of Bilgewater that is comprised of several wrecked ships, lashed to one another and anchored to Bilgewater, creating essentially a floating island. He, like his father and mother, is a ship guard, trained with the weapon of his choosing to protect merchant ships from pirates, which meant he was usually fighting his own friends. Fully aware of his unusual talent, Zale could use his control over the sea to speed up his ship or to create waves to capsize enemies. He was so successful at guaranteeing safe passage to ships that he was given the title Ocean Guard. One day, during a normal trading stop in Demacia, a boy and a girl, both armed and about his age, ask the captain for passage on the ship, and in return, they'll work they're way. The captain agreed, signing them on as guards.

Not gonna work.

"Guard" isn't something anyone does anymore in-game. Unless it's "guarding" their killstreak.

Ok so here's my thoughts his

Q is undertow : sends forth a wave traveling 850 units dealing 30/ 45 50 /60/90 +40% AP in a 40 unit wide line dragging enemy champions towards Zale and slowing down units moving away from him, this ability can be charged by holding to increase the force of the wave dealing 10% increased damage and knocking back targets hit.

W, Aquifer: creats a 300 unit radius vortex while channeling for 3 secs shielding units inside from projectiles and regenerates a portion of their health equal to 20% of their missing health and 40% of the negated damage while dealing 30% of Zales ability power and 20% of his bonus armor as damage to enemies within 200 units of the vortex, the vortex lasts for 6 seconds, 12 sec CD.

E, Brine: crashes 1/2/3/4/5 torrents of water on a 400 unit area stunning enemies and dealing 50/70/90/120/150+ 25 % ability power and 5% of their maximum health.

R I will let you have this honor ( also come up with a passive which can be his familiar ). This concept is similar to something I would come up with myself. So these are my thoughts.

Ohh then how about special interactions with the turtle

Q if cast on Lana launches her forward dealing x %ad+% bonus armor and knocks up enemies hit

E, if cast on Lana fires the torrents in her x shaped aura depending on where Lana is facing.

So let's rename the passive to aqua line: Zale is paired to his trusty turtle Lana who follows him 20 units behind ( so she turns when he moves in straight lines like he is pulling her ), Lana can be used to block projectiles but is lost in the process respawning 20 secs after her death.

I was thinking, though, that Lana would be on Zale's back, giving him a unique silhouette, which is one of the things that designers look at, can you take a glance at this champion, or see them through sweeper and know who you're looking at.

How about this: for Q and E he throws it, and it stays where it ended (back to the start of the Q or at the target E), and then the W is around the turtle, and the passive (and therefore Ult) moves with the turtle also. And Zale can click on Lana to have her come back to him. (Not instant). Just putting out ideas.
