I have a solution for Syndra being a balance nightmare - only number shift AND more fun to play kit!
Deep breath-
#Burst mage -> Control/DPS mage
Sounds like a bullshit, right? Well no if you learn the details!
What if we cut her ultimate's damage, BUT also reduced the cooldown by half?
What does that do?
I'm glad you asked! Let me explain: We would take the targeted burst that is unfun to play against and toxic away, while adding WAY more flow to her and WAY more options! I say, let's make her ultimate to be a part of her DPS with like 20 seconds CD at 40% CDR. That allows her to use a new combo: Q -> Q -> R first to place like 5 Spheres on the ground (making the cooldown shorter will open her to use it on frontline if needed) and then E for a sweet AoE stun capable of CCing the whole enemy team if she is possitioned correctly. That will massively compensate for the loss of damage on it, because she won't be able to R to point and click delete someone.
Now that's not enough to make her a proper Control mage, here I present you additional changes:
- Make Spheres last longer, but instantly disappear when Syndra wanders too far (let's say Orianna's ball or even lower for comparison). Make her dangerous in the zone where she stacked her Spheres, but weaker when she's without them - counterplay to her would be then to drag teamfight away from her Spheres and force her to abandon some/most of them. It will rise Syndra's skillcap to the level her mains like it: the actual Sphere management.
- Reduce W's cooldown a bit and make it's slow 30% at all levels, if proven broken, reduce damage a bit aswell. This allows her to have relatively constant slow that is a common mechanic for Control/DPS mages.
- Make her E's stun duration to scale
1.5-> 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 s. With these changes she'd probably become little bit stronger lane bully and this change is to ease the life of her opponent a bit (it's actually similar treatment Zyra's E has).
I can imagine many people not liking this, but I just needed to drop it here and make at least someone actually think about it. Enjoy <3
Edit: I'm well aware of "Control mages" not being a thing, hence the "/DPS", but I felt like the name fits alot better (and still feels alot better than the new classification).
